    Picked up my rental car at the Fishermanā€™s wharf an hour early at 9:30am. Was told I couldnā€™t reserve a car from (2/15) 10:30am until 5pm the following day (2/16), Iā€™d have to reserve in full 24hr increments (I travel often and usually rent a car and have never heard this before). Original price of the car when I was on Expedia was around $318, then got insurance and it was around $364. I was supposed to be returning the car in Los Angeles the following day at 5pm (2/16), but they said I could do the next day (2/17) at the same time I picked up the car at 9:30am because of the ā€œ24hr incrementā€ rule. So the following morning (2/17) I went to return the car, my bill was about $120 more than I was initially quoted from the Fishermanā€™s Wharf location, and the Los Angeles location couldnā€™t make any changes to the charges (late fees, etc.) and I had to call the location I picked up from and explain what happened. Long story short, I will never rent a car from the Fishermanā€™s Wharf location again, because clearly they donā€™t know what they are doing. The Los Angeles location saw that I was supposed to return my car the previous day at 5pm and even they were confused as to why the other location would tell me I have another full day. Thankfully we were able to resolve the issue over the phone and I paid what I was originally quoted but I cannot recommend their services.

    Absolutely terrible place, DO NOT RENT FROM THESE SCAMMERS. I was planning on leaving for a funeral on Friday morning when I realized my own car was leaking brake fluid. I took it into the shop where I was told it would take a day to fix so I needed to find a rental immediately. I called this Hertz location on Beach Street to confirm that I could reserve a car from Friday afternoon until Saturday evening when I would be returning from the funeral. They confirmed over the phone that this would work. When I arrived to pick up the car, they pretended I had never told them over the phone when I wanted to return the car. At what company does the employee not ask when a customer plans to return the car? They told me they close at noon on Saturday and were closed on Sunday as well so I would have to return it Monday. I said, well that's fine as long as I only have to pay for one day. The employee nodded so I thought that would be fine. Then she tried to hand me the receipt hoping I wouldn't notice that she had actually charged me for all 3 days. I told her this is not what I asked for or what you told me over the phone. She smirked and said there was nothing they could do and asked if I wanted to cancel the reservation instead. I was already late for the family gathering the night before a funeral and had a 7 hour drive ahead of me so I did not have time to argue with them much less find another reservation. The whole time the employees were not wearing masks, joking about getting wasted after work and joking about how my car would not be clean (one employee asked the other if the car was clean, she responded "well do you want to clean it?"). I was actually shocked by how brazenly disrespectful they were. These people are low lifes who work for a company going bankrupt so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

    I'm actually being rather generous with my rating considering my experience. As a Gold member had to wait a long time at this location. I had rented the premium sport car and the car I got was extremely basic feature-wise. You'd hope for the price you're paying you get something better. Had far better (feature-wise) cars with the basic entry level cars in other companies. Ultimately the car had mechanical problems making the use of the car a big problem in my trip. After hours of being bounced back and forth between different departments Hertz refused to provide any help or a refund because "I had paid the car in full" as if that makes any sense and casually shrugged the whole thing off by saying I'd have to wait until my rental is over and only then I can call customer service and file a dispute as if the customer service is very helpful. Again Hertz didn't lift a finger to help their overpaying customer and the horrible experience I had was mine to deal with. I'm sure as hell not hopeful it will be any different if I were to waste even more hours with their customer service now so not even gonna try the stupid dispute. Simply won't rent Hertz again and will cancel my Gold membership

    Come here if youā€™re a fan of wasting time. Booked two Teslas for our group, a week in advance. The office is staffed by just 1 person. We ended up waiting a total of an hour and half past our reservation for them to get one of the cars ready. Not only did the other come with barely any charge, it was filled with used napkins and trash. I have never seen a rental car in this condition. Unbelievably, they donā€™t even have the infrastructure to charge their own fleet, which means itā€™s up to you to spend the first few hours of your reservation waiting, finding a charger, before even starting your trip. I booked the car for a roadtrip, not to explore local supercharger stations. Not only that, but the car was filled with garbage in the console, seats and cup holders. Used baggies with unknown substances inside, used napkins with stains. Whatā€™s the point of a service charge if thereā€™s no service? Listen to the reviews, avoid this place, avoid hertz.

    Save yourself from stress and loosing money and DONā€™T RENT A CAR FROM HERTZ!!!! Horrible experience! They stole money from my credit card!!!! I email them, open claims, call! Nothing helps!!!!!!!

    I rent frequently from this office because of its proximity to where I stay in SF. I am always well taken care of there, mainly because of the service I get from Matt, who works diligently to make sure I have a good experience. The last time I was in SF I called him the day before I arrived to make sure the car I ordered was available and that I'd get it on time. Sure enough, everything was perfect when I arrived and left the office within 5 minutes without any delay. My only criticism is that they don't have a key drop, which would allow you to leave your car during off-hours. I had an early flight and took the car back the night before and had to leave it in the garage unlocked with the keys in the car, which wasn't ideal.

    Long wait time. Why canā€™t I just check in on the phone and leave? Literally have to wait to check in with one employee, a line of 5 people, and wait another 30 minutes for the car to get ready

    Hertz did not inform us of the options for paying tolls on our route. We are French and we are not used to tolls without possible payment on site. I spent a lot of time looking for information on the internet to pay online but I'm not sure it will work. I accuse Hertz of having abused tourists to be able to benefit from the fees in the event of non-payment of tolls, while we pay very dearly the fine for non-payment of tolls to which will be added the "management fees" of hertz . We will dispute this management fee because Hertz had to give us a way to manage the tolls with a subscription and they did not do it to make more money.

    Picked up an SUV 6th July for an epic road trip across to Yosemite, Death Valley, LV, Grand Canyon then drop off at LAXā€¦ car ran as good as goldā€¦ excellent stand out service from Anastasia at Fishermanā€™s Wharfā€¦ if you need the rest room before you set off there is one down the side of the parking but get the code ā€¦.

    We have rented a car from Hertz during every visit to San Francisco. Our experience has always been fantastic. Quick pickup, extremely courteous, amicable and helpful staff. Great cars and most importantly, accurate billing! Just yesterday, we had a disastrous experience with SixT (via Lyft app) and walked straight up to Hertz without a reservation. The team was extremely understanding and went above and beyond to give us a car. We are extremely thankful and grateful to your staff. I would rate 10ā­ļø!

    Absolutely shocking. We reserved a booster seat for my son, and they didn't have one so suggested we drive 2 miles away to purchase one ourselves, putting my son at risk. Totally unacceptable. Also had to wait over an hour while they cleaned my sister's car. Do not use this mob.

    They don't honor your reservations, they will give you the car they want (usually a more economical one) without any price adjustment. They will provide you with wrong information like saying that you donā€™t have to return the car fully charged (the EV model you didnā€™t ask for in the 1st place), and then after returning the car you will get hit with an additional fee on your bill covering the EV charging cost. Fun fact: you already had to charge the car in the middle of your trip (wasting time of your day to do so), meaning that the EV was already charged when returned but they still billed you for it (even tho you were told you didn't have to).

    Tried to overcharge us after we returned the vehicle - Our pickup experience was seamless and quick, which we appreciated. They were quick to answer the phones when we had questions, and also offered us free supercharging since the charging adaptor kit was not included in the vehicle. However, upon returning the vehicle we were emailed our receipt and it showed that we would be charged extra on top of what we paid (in full) when we booked. I was confused so I called to ask what the extra charges were for, and as soon as I asked this question, the representative at this location said that his manager had adjusted the amount and that weā€™d be getting a new email receipt, and we wouldnā€™t be charged extra. If I hadnā€™t called we wouldā€™ve just been overcharged for no reason but as soon as I called they immediately adjusted it. I wonder if they would have adjusted it if I hadnā€™t called. Make sure you carefully review your receipt and card charges ASAP as the location might not be honest.

    We were stressed about renting a car, as you always see negative reviews online, no matter the company. We were pleasantly surprised. The service was prompt and courteous. A good experience. We got our car in the terms indicated in our online reservation. We had a mechanical breakdown with the car on the way, but we made an easy exchange at another Hertz branch on our route. I recommend.

    DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM HERE! There is a long line outside and no one gets a car that they actually rented! They have no cars available so your reservation doesnā€™t actually mean anything! SO ANNOYING! We were supposed to be on our way from San Francisco to Los Angeles 3h ago! We have no car and we are just wasting out time here! I will never book a car in Hertz anymore!

    When we picked up the car it was great. They were fast and it was only 47 bucks total for a day. Extended a extra day because my car was not ready in the shop. Easy to do only and no 10 dollar fee. At pick up the guy that checked us out was awesome and fast! Me and my husband will rent here again.

    First of all: We had a very positive experience at this branch! After the reviews for Hertz Car Rental and this branch on Fisherman's Wharf were not consistently positive, we were prepared for an unpleasant pickup appointment and a sales pitch about insurance, etc. Luckily everything turned out completely differently and that's why I'm writing this review now. We were welcomed very friendly by Matt and our details were recorded. There was no attempt to sell us any extra services. There was no waiting time, so after less than 10 minutes we were already at our place Car could go. This didn't have a full tank (hence no 5 stars), but of course you don't have to return the car with a full tank. Overall, a positive experience that I would like to share with you :)
