Abigail Hotel

Hotel β€’ Extended stay hotel

😠 Stayed here for a month at it was not better than a 3 star hostel, you just pay so much more than a hostel. I'm don't know how they did it but they also erased all of their reviews who gave them less than 3 stars. I'm really very upset with management and the quality of this place.

It's an okay place to put up in. The location is the best attribute for this place, in terms of connectivity. It's a 5 min walk from the civic center Bart station and very close to market street as well. The drawbacks would be safety at night, since it's bang in the middle of the tenderloin area. Apart from that, the maintenance isn't that great. The "continental breakfast" is an eyewash.

Rooms are clean, reception people are super friendly. Breakfast is included and good, and the there's a pool table downstairs. Only downside so far is the street light that shines light into our room at night - which the blinds do not block out completely.

It's a good place to life and meet people from different countries. It's clean, simple and comfortable. In the area there are many homeless but the hotel is so close of the public transportation. The price is really good comparative with the zone (if you chose to share you room)

Although the suite itself is not bad, but the area around the resident(Tenderlion) is very terrible. So many homeless people are there and streets smell awful. I booked 4 weeks and cancelled when I still had 3 weeks, because I was followed by homeless and felt dangerous. However, even I still have 3 weeks booking, there is NO ANY MONEY BACK, NO REFUNDS.

I live just two doors down from the "Old" Abigail Hotel , as it has seen a few changes, when Covid-19 struck, the Abigail had to close its doors, but then it saw new life as Recovering COVID-19 patients could leave the Hospital, most were still under Quarantine, so, it became a Covid Recovery house, then as Covid cases became fewer, the Abigail is now a residential apartment bldg, although apartment may be a stretch for a single room, it has shed its Covid history and is now home to more than a few people i know.

The guy sitting in the lobby is really kind. There is breakfast every morning for free as well as a community kitchen that closes at 11pm everynight. Laundry is available on site as well (paid using quarters you can get at the front desk). It is decently well maintained but aging can be seen here and there.

In short: the hostel is great. Staff is very friendly, breakfast is decent (there are muffins!), there's free Wi-Fi, there's a pool table,.. Also another thing to notice is the place where the hostel is, is okay for being in the tenderloin. (A few blocks further there are lots of homeless though)

It’s wild to me to see so many 4 star reviews. Yes, you get what you pay for…a 2 star hostel experience. Visiting SF? Only stay here if you’re desperate to save money.
