Stopped for a quick bite. The food was super fresh and flavorful in the right ways. Honestly better than most fancy restaurants we have been going to in the last month in SF. I’d rather eat here for a fraction of the price than go to another one of those restaurants that look good but taste horrible. We literally ate this food on the sitting steps of someone’s house but we’re way happier about it. Anyway amazing lunch spot, def try the chicken bowl.

I loved my takeout meal! ❤️ I tried the organic chicken as a bowl while my hubby had the butcher kofte meatball bowl. We both loved our dish! They come with 3 different sides of sauces, one spicy, one creamy/garlicky and one creamy pink one (that was my fav!) We also had their hummus and it was yummy! Fair prices, big portions and very tasteful 🍚🍗🥗

Fresh and delicious! Ordered through Uber Eats and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavour. The Kofta Salad was a hefty portion and showed up in my takeout container as displayed and described. The lamb 🐑 meatballs 🍖 were juicy and cooked perfectly. I wished I had more! The beets 🥕 were marinated in dressing and tasted tart and savory. This was perhaps the best tasting Tabouli 🥗 I've had from a restaurant, let alone in a takeout container. Definitely coming back for more! Sorry no pics, I couldn't hold myself back from devouring everything 🤤😋. Edited Jan 2022: added a close up of the Kofta Salad. I came here after a workout looking for a healthy and quick meal in the Russian Hill area. We got the chicken salad and the kofte (meatballs) with rice. Both dishes were super delicious and come packed with veggies. The sauces were also super yummy. This spot just opened up and the owners are really nice. I def recommend if you’re looking for something delicious, quick and healthy!

Vegetarian Food Update: Could I just transport them all to Oregon? Damnnnnn. Order the Hummus, Spicy Mashed Potato, Extra pita bread and the yogurt dip with beet juice. You will thank me later. Yummmmm Walk upto Ina park. Yes, it’s uphill for 3 blocks but the view is worth it with your delicious food. I am still in bliss. It’s been a long time since I loved Hummus. This was delicious.

Got the chicken bowl and it was beyond what words can describe. It’s so hard to find such descent delicious food with a humble and casual vibe. I don’t think I ever felt happy eating food without paying $150 in San Francisco anymore. This food genuinely makes me so happy.

Man this place is as good as it's rubbery meatballs. It's not that bad, but my god the serving sizes make no sense. I finished all the meat and just had a giant bowl of chickpeas and rice left... it was so dry I couldn't finish it. The wrap was better but for $19 I've had better food at McDonald's.

Why does this place have three separate names / aliases as if it’s a fugitive on the run ? Today they added a fourth name - gastrobot; Perched at the top of Russian Hill, pilgrims climb the steep hills to get to this apparent Holy Grail of Middle Eastern food; I am perplexed as their Red Lentil Balls Rice Bowl incinerated my mouth and I had to call the fire department . Their best dish is the dips and the classic hummus but if you try asking for extra pita from them, they will demand your first born; Photos also show Beautiful houses and scenes around this place !

Food was very delicious, tasty and healthy. Great service, friendly staff. No dine in I think that sucks but overall it’s a great place to grab a bite. I’d say It’s worth the try.

The muhammara is to die for! Wish I had pita to eat it with tho. The lentil ball is worth a try to! This is the sister concept from their Saucey Greens. So you can grab both their salads AND pita and koftes! Love supporting small businesses like this. Will definitely come back!

I've ordered delivery from Sumac a handful of times over the past year and it's always excellent. I'm not a vegetarian but my favorite item is the red lentil ball salad. I don't even know how to describe the lentil balls, they're creamy in texture and topped with truly delicious crunchy onions, the ultimate comfort food. The salads are big and filling! My other favorites are the muhammara with warm pita and the banana pudding for dessert. This place is QUICK to package and send out your food. Usually the pita is still warm when it's delivered even though I'm a few miles away! I also appreciate that all their takeout containers are biodegradable but still hold up really well if you have leftovers.

Had driven by a few times and saw a consistent line of people picking up food. Finally gave it a try the other night and can’t stop thinking about it. Absolutely incredible! Chicken was so well flavored and veggies were delish. I’m plotting how to get my hands on bowls of that hummus! Can’t wait to come back

The food was amazing, healthy and fresh with excellent Mediterranean taste. Excellent attention!! You have to try the chicken bowl. The hummus and labneh are some of the best I've ever had. When I return to San Francisco, I will definitely go back to try different dishes that they have on their menu. 100% Recommended. ahhh don't forget to order the dessert baklava and delicious banana pudding!!!!

This is my new favorite restaurant. I order from here about 3x a week since I don't cook and live about two blocks away. Their chicken bowls are incredible -- you can eat one meal over a few days. Love their sauces too.

My work team (Embarcadero, 130 people) stumbled upon Sumac about 2 years ago when we started coming back to the office and having lunch to together. The food it so good, it was always one of the THE most popular choices each week. Fast forward to this month when I found out they now offered CATERING! Music to my ears as I now provide lunch for the team each Thursday. So, we tested it out last week and my team LOVED it. A few said it was the best lunch we've had:) The site was easy to use. The delivery rep came on time. They provided little signs (always helpful). And the food was amazing (chicken, beef/lamb meatballs, falafels, lentil cakes, veggies, hummus, rice, pita,...) EVERYTHING was gone. I think there was 2 pieces of baklava and a tad bit of chickpea salad left. SUCCESS! Thanks to Deniz for calling to let me know about the catering option. Thanks to Sumac for helping me look like a ROCKSTAR to my team.
