Stayed two nights. Staff and management are super friendly and kind. I like the key system they have set up. The rooms are small but cozy. Only thing we found that was lacking in the room was a mini fridge/microwave. You're not near enough late night food options (except a Popeye's a few blocks north that is weirdly open til midnight on Thursdays), so having some late night snacks will take some planning. Parking, like most of SF, is going to be a hassle, but this area is particularly annoying as every street (sometimes block) has a different parking sign. The spaces in front of the hotel (300 block)

Booked this hotel via Airbnb 5 weeks in advance, and when we arrived it turned out the room that was assigned to us was unserviceable and not cleaned. The front desk was unable to assign us another room or find us alternate accommodation and Airbnb only suggested we reach out to other listings, which was impossible at 9pm at night. The receptionist apologized but kept saying it wouldn't have happened if we had booked through their website, which was not helpful... Later learned from the front desk that the room had been unserviceable for 4 days already but the hotel never bothered to inform us or to make alternate arrangements for us. Incredibly disappointed in this hotel's management, for giving an unserviceable room to guests, and for not taking any action to remedy the situation at all.

I’m all for supporting small businesses but unfortunately I had a hard time falling asleep knowing that my hotel room wasn’t cleaned properly. The first thing I noticed is that my toilet wasn’t cleaned from the last guest, there were a couple hairs on the seat and remaining excrement in the toilet itself. I also noticed there were a few hairs on the pillows from a previous guest as well. The walls in the building are also very thin so I could hear all conversations in the room around me. I never leave bad reviews and I understand it’s an older building but I couldn’t sleep comfortably knowing these details. Aside from the cleanliness, The hotel has a very friendly staff and great location.

Overhead light in the room would not stop turning on randomly when trying to go to bed. Front desk said “there is nothing we can do”. Pretty challenging as far as sleeping goes, but other than that it is a pretty good hotel. Nice art on the walls.

The hotel is very conveniently located, so that you can walk to many cool neighborhoods. It's walking distance to Haight Ashbury, Castor or The Painted Ladies. The service was basic but good. The building is very old, it has no elevator, and to reach the rooms you climb wooden stairs that creek, which gives it a charming, authentic appeal. The entire place is very clean and smells amazing. The rooms are micro- rooms, though. The space is so small that the sink is in the bedroom instead of the bathroom. The view we had was the one of the wall of the building next door, but we didn't expect a view anyway. All in all, for a couple of nights in SF, you will have a good location, a clean room and a comfy bed. If you are looking for a fancy hotel, with the lobby, restaurant, gym, spa etc... - this is not your place.

Place is pretty neat in a neat area. Unfortunately, we spent literally all night long listening to blaring music from somewhere in the hotel. I would stay again if this wasn’t a regular thing but without it being managed the night we were here, I don’t think that’ll be a thing. Clean and probably the best beds I’ve slept in during my stay so far.

TINY tiny rooms! Definitely not a deal breaker for us, but we thought there was so much more they could do to optimize the space in the rooms. For example, they could have put a dresser in the closet or had literally any other bed frame so we could put our suitcases under the bed (it was just a big solid block). Even some shelving would have been nice. There was nowhere for us to put away our folded clothes, so it was kind of difficult to exist there for a full 5 days. The bathroom was huge though so it felt like a ton of wasted space. The front desk person, Ashley, was really lovely to talk to though! She told us about the history of the building and recommended a couple of things to do in the area.

This hotel was great! After an unfortunate vehicle break-in the night before (not near the hotel), the staff was extremely helpful with extending our check-out time in the morning so we could deal with swapping out our rental. They also let us park our second car in the loading zone to keep an eye on it. While costing them nothing, this was a huge help and relief of additional stress for us. In addition, the hotel was cute, clean, and quiet. Should we come back to SF, we will definitely be staying here!

Comfortable. The location is quite nice for a low-key stay that is still accessible to interesting parts of the city. The high ceilings and natural light made everything very homey. Furnishings are pleasant, but lived in and the queen room was a bed and a bathroom. Expect the four seasons and be sad, expect an unassuming and maintained mid-century hotel and be happy.

Cozy spot with friendly folks at the front desk. Room was humid, and it desperately needed black out shades.

Lovely place for a couple to stay near Haight. Delicious coffee just steps away in the morning. Nice garden for a drink in the evening. Be sure to look around at the art in the room and hallways.

Really pleased with our experience here! The hotel was quiet and clean, and our room was exactly as described. It was tiny, but we didn't mind because we knew it would be, and it was a great deal! My only complaint is that I wish there had been more functional storage in the room, so we could get our bags out of the way and not have to climb over them to get around the room. The closet was too small for some of our luggage.

The location is great if you want something near a lot of different non-downtown attractions. There is tons of food in the area as well. You're spoiled for choices. The hotel is nice and I was happy with my room. I just wouldn't call this a 4 star hotel. It's more a 3 star hotel for me. Perfect for a place to sleep and explore the area but not a spot I'd linger in my room beyond needing to sleep.

We had a great stay at The Metro Hotel. The hotel itself is lovely; well curated with gorgeous art, comfortable and well appointed rooms, and it even smells great! The location was excellent, surrounded by great bars and restaurants and several transportation options. The best part, by far, was the service. The whole staff was very friendly and made sure we were comfortable. Big shout out to Ashley, who not only gave us excellent dining recommendations, but also set us out to see the best sights. I’d absolutely stay here again, if solely for her hospitality.

Loved the vibes and decor. Slightly small room but typical for a big city. Quiet inside and outside of the hotel. Next to good bars and restaurants.

Charming little boutique hotel, the art, the colors, it’s a great experience. The backyard area was cute and pleasant and very relaxing. The location is a 10 minute walk to Alamo park or 30 to the ferry building. Each room has unique art on the wall with a clean restroom. 24 hour concierge was everything for me. I will be staying here again!

While this place is very small it is a nice boutique european style hotel in the heart of everything. I used my sleep machine which helped since you can hear the hallway coming and going. I would definitely stay again. Nicely designed and clean. Staff are friendly. Tons to eat and shopping on the same block.
