I walked in and recieved zero greeting. The lady behind the desk just looked at me and looked back down at the register in distaste. I wanted to purchase bath items and was looking at the shelves when a Caucasian family walked in and the lady behind the register immediately walked out from behind the counter top and greeted them vivaciously, proceeded to say items in the store were all homemade & showed sale items & clothing. Asked them if they had any questions, Please don't hesitate to ask. Still she ignored me. Another white couple walked in & she was ecstatic and her customer service was amazing. Still she ignored me. So I'm assuming based off how I look, tattoos & colored, I wasn't good enough for the customer service end of things. Please don't judge a book by it's cover. I own a successful business myself here in San Jose and although I may look a bit rough around the edges I promise I can afford some bath salts. Step it up on the service here. It was disgusting being treated like I wasn't worthy despite the reaction the other customers recieved. I treat everyone just the same that walks through my doors of my business & more so I work with many troubled youth & families that undergo mountains of experience with discrimination here in the bay area. Do better.

This used to be one of my favorite places to shop pre pandemic. Popped in there recently and was horrified at the customer service. I’m not sure if there is new ownership or new management. But regardless, no excuse. The staff was unfriendly, unhelpful, rude and seemed out out that I was in the store trying to make a purchase.

I never expected to be stereotyped in a small women-owned business considering I’ve shopped there before. I’m not one to get riled up easily, but little did my cousin and I know our once pleasant Saturday shopping spree would turn into us getting verbally insulted and profiled by one of their employees; whose name truth be told I didn’t care to learn. Considering we’re two women of color in our 20s on one of the busiest and most diverse shopping strips in San Jose, I would recommend you train your employees to be more welcoming and less judgemental of your clientele. Especially considering that some of the makers’ goods you sell are made by women of color, it may be time to reconsider the type of women you’re hiring to work in your store. The excuses made by this employee were inexcusable and you lost the business of a fellow maker and artist.

I went to Maker's Market on a whim a few days ago with my brother's girlfriend aka one of the most awesome women I know. We were browsing for a gift for my brother to celebrate his graduation from his apprenticeship program, but instead got caught up trying on all the amazing jewelry this store has to offer with the assistance of the lovely Claire. I manage a fine jewelry store and let me tell you, if I thought there was any chance I could have stolen Claire away I would have because she was fantastic! We had so much fun with her. She was so knowledgeable about all the designers and pieces and was never pushy with us. As we were about to leave empty handed, a beautiful knife in the front display case caught our eyes. My brother is an avid knife collector and this particular piece not only had a Damascus steel blade, but the handle was made from fossilized mammoth tusk. We decided he needed it and split the cost. When we gave it to him last night I swear his eyes bugged out of his head. I was so happy to be giving him something so truly unique! As for Claire, I reached out to the owners to sing her praises and was just informed that the day after our visit she was promoted to store manager! I couldn't be happier for her and wish her a ton of success. I will definitely be back, hopefully to get something for myself!

Great selection of unique items. I had a question about an item and a promotional discount they we're offering before I was going to drive all the way down. I called quite a few times during business hours to ask my question but no one ever answerd. I finally sent an email and did get a response. The gentleman at the store aplogized and took care of me. I think he was a manager. The price points are a little high but to be expected.

Not a trustable store! Check how much they actually charge you, price tag after sale was $12 and after backed home I understood she charged me for $29! Not a big lost but it is disgusting to see such a behavior.

I ordered the Wood Serving Board for my mom's birthday and she absolutely loved it. The product arrived in the nick of time and was an elegant addition to my mother's kitchen, which made for the perfect gift. Even the packaging was awesome! The fact that all of the products are made in the USA was just icing on the cake. If you are looking for an awesome gift idea, I'd definitely recommend Makers Market.
