Cool tour. The tour guides were amazing. I highly recommend taking the extra tour after taking the first tour, it made the overall experience that much better. Gift shop to shooting range, axe throwing to house tour, this site holds a lot of adventure to be had. Warning: I and my guests experienced paranormal activity while in the house. My experience was not nearly as bad as my guests but be aware, paranormal experiences are possible and my not be suitable for all people.

I love this place. It's been twenty plus years since I've been over here so I thought I should check it out again. It's amazing how much you forget over the years. It's just a neat old quirky house. The story behind it really does enhance the experience. We only did the house tour because it was raining. Like I already said, I loved it. The guide was great and there was plenty to see. Would recommend. Not a lot of pics because I was too busy looking with my eyes.

This house has been on my bucket list for years and it did not disappoint. Full of mystery, twists, turns, and crazy architecture. It was fun to get a history lesson about Sarah Winchester and her life. The stairs are easy to climb, and the tour was kid friendly, too! Check out the gardens afterwards, the whole place is beautiful.

We toured on our weekend getaway. What an AWESOME experience! Very unique! Just wish there was a little more time in between rooms; not only for pictures but to allow the available presence(s) to come through more. Faces are within paintings/pictures in pictures. Definitely does not sell short of the energy in that building! Beautiful architecture! Captivating! Now, we just need a midnight tour or sleepover! ☺️

Loved this place. The house and grounds are beyond stunning. Parking was easier than I expected and the tour guides were fun. I enjoyed learning about the history. We did both tours and felt the price for the explore more tour was not a great value, but the $ you pay helps fund the restorations needed so I'm okay with that. Also we arrived basically one minute before our scheduled tour and they were very accommodating and offered to change our time before I could even ask.

We enjoyed the Winchester Mystery Mansion tour at the beginning of November. The house is amazing and so much fun to explore. The architecture is very unique and the history is very intriguing. I would highly recommend the extended tour as well to get the full experience. We were able to see much more of the house, including the attic and basement. Don't forget to walk around the exterior grounds and gardens to see the magnificent displays of beauty.

My first time visiting Winchester Mystery Mansion. Decided to make it a day trip with cousins. Bought tickets online and when you purchase 1 tour, the second tour is given at a discount. It was a fun experience. Our first tour was The Mansion Tour and our guide was Jim. He was very funny and excellent with the kids during the tour. Our second tour was Walking With The Spirits Tour and our guide was Katy. This was a more behind the scenes tour in areas where you can tell had more damage, possibly from earthquake. She was a great guide as well. The entire estate was very nice to walk through, including the garden. Lots of tents with trinkets to buy, tarot card readers, crystals, clothing, soaps you name it. A nice surprise that they sold food, snacks, desserts, soft drinks, liquor and gift shop was amazing. Before you enter the tour, you get a group picture. You must experience this at least once. All the staff was friendly, including nice gentlemen at the snack bar.

A must-see experience for every fan of the eccentric or unusual or even Victorian architecture. It's difficult to convey my feelings about the Winchester Mystery House. I'm not a believer in spooks or spirits, so the exact reason why my memory of the house has lingered at the front of my consciousness for weeks after my visit is peculiar to put it mildly. My initial impression was simply how overwhelming the maintenance of the house must be on an ongoing basis. We paid for the 10:50 am "Guided Mansion Tour" on a Saturday. Tickets were $41.99 each. Our tour guide was Marissa, a lovely young lady wearing a period costume. She was professional, enthusiastic about the property (she referred to the Winchester House as a "home" throughout the tour), and a delightful host. We heard some of the other tour guides that overlapped ours due to the layout of the house, and I am pleased that we were lucky to be assigned Marissa for our tour. She was great! Highly recommended!!!

They were running a little behind when we arrived and the tour was around 85min at a fairly fast pace. Much of the furniture is not original but they did a great job finding pieces that looked like the original time period for what she liked. Lots of varying types of stair ways from tall skinny stairs to my my favorite short deep stairs. Many of the stairwells though weren't very wide, so if you are a bigger person like myself it'll feel a bit squishy in areas. Or if you are mobility restricted this is NOT the tour for you since you do go up and down many stairs throughout the tour. Thankfully those areas you were allowed to touch walls since many of the rooms have original textured walls and they requested you not touch them. Photos are allowed and water was provided half way through, which was nice because it got very hot. They asked no flash photography, video, or food and to treat it like you would a museum.

Beautiful home and tour! I loved all the history around the home. I highly suggest both home tours, the regular and beyond tours. Both tour guides were very knowledgeable and confident, I believe that always makes the tour better. The grounds were really well taken care of and the house itself is really left in the state it was when Sara passed away. You will spend about two hours here and parking is free.

In March we took the House tour and loved it. We came back in July to take the Walk With Spirits Tour. We had a blast! We love the tours here. Staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. The house is amazing, great for those into history and spirits. We bought our tickets online prior, which made it so easy, no wait at all. Highly recommend all of the tours they offer here.

The overall experience was good. I feel like the price is high for entry but again it's California and everything is pricey. At the end of the day the tour itself is an hour with a guide and you have access to the gardens and outside after as well. So at the end of the day it does make it worth it. There are lots of cool places outside to take good photos as well. Even if you know nothing about the history it is definitely worth the visit if you are in the area.

I absolutely love the house. It's cute, quirky, and inspiring. However the tickets were way overpriced, considering it wasn't even the whole house and the inside was incredibly hot (I get that AC is quite impossible but feel like some of the money on the ticket could be spent on more and better fans), and that the tour is quite short for the price (the turnaround rate is high, which again I get, but I wish we had more time to check out every room, instead of being rushed by the next tour.) Worth visiting and it was super fun, but get ready to spend.

We absolutely loved this house! Our tour guide Olivia Maldonado went above and beyond for our tour. We loved the architecture, history, "haunted" part and everything else. Olivia let us rest when my Make-a-Wish kiddo needed a break and we got to use ghost hunting tools in the house. We got to hear the history behind doors that lead to nowhere, the stairs that lead to nowhere, the number 13 throughout the house and so many more fun tidbits. Their gift shop is huge and super well priced. Olivia made the tour so enjoyable! 100% worth your time to go and enjoy as there's something for everyone.

Historical aspects that were beautiful to see. Great tour guide with a sense of humor. We went in August so it was hot but we still enjoyed the tour. Lots of walking, lots of stairs, some original items, but most things were brought in to recreate the home dynamic. We definitely want to go back and see the other tour options.

We were in San Jose for a concert and found the Winchester Mystery House while searching for things to do during the day, and I'm glad we did. The one hour tour was great, and our tour guide gave us some great history while injecting a lot of humor as well. It was a really good time, and we enjoyed learning about and seeing the house. All of the different features meant to confuse the ghosts were fun to see. (They were set up for a Halloween event, so some of my photos have those items in there that normally aren't set up.)

This is an amazing attraction for everyone who likes architecture, history, or interesting stories. Our guide, Evelyn, made the tour very enjoyable. Don't miss the cool gift so when you visit.

Have gone twice now! Once during Halloween there was a nighttime tour special and everyone was dressed up it was awesome and spooky. We got fresh hot apple cider at the end because it was a bit chilly. Also have gone during a regular daytime tour. It is always a pleasure and the employees are very nice. Staff provides a bit a theatrical flare which is great for kids and adults. It's a great place to take visiting relatives. I plan on returning for another tour!

A definite must see! My friend and I traveled to California this spring and she wanted to share with me the story of Sarah Winchester and her home and her family and history and so much more! A smart but eccentric lady, she had ideas and saw them through! She was strong willed! I don't want to spoil your visit but I will say that while in her room, I felt things that I have never felt before!

The tour guides are amazing, the main tour is awesome, but the plus more package made it more in depth. This building is beautiful and haunting all at the same time. Definitely bring comfortable shoes because there are alot of stairs and lots of walking. Must see.

I found out when I got there that on holidays they don't accept Groupon purchases, so I had to purchase tickets at the door. Other than that it was a great time. I remember going there when I was younger so now glad I was able to bring my kids. The story is very interesting, the house was very beautiful, the garden was nice to walk around in.

I had a great experience. I just can't describe this amazing tour. I would do it again. Our tour guide was great. He had a lot of information. He was very well organized. On presenting his tour. With detailed information. On another note: As you walk through the mystery house. You can feel the energy. Some rooms more than others. I would do this again. On the night 🌙 tour.

Such a quirky building, only made more impressive when you really think about how it wasn't a tourist attraction but a real house that involved real people. Mansion tour was great, with a knowledgeable guide (Jennifer) and good pacing. I do wish there was more time to stop and peek around, but that was my only regret. Garden tour was very neat, especially the audio parts. It was slightly frustrating to see signs and locations blocked off but clearly meant for visitors (painters shop), but overall a fascinating experience overall

The Winchester Mystery House tour is amazing and so completely worth visiting! Our guide, Kai, was knowledgeable, captivating, and friendly. He shared facts, not fiction, while sharing the story of Sara Winchester's life. The house is a piece of fascinating, historic architecture, full of interesting tales and visuals. I would totally take this tour again, it was so fascinating I am sure I missed things because I was so enthralled! The gardens are beautiful and so peaceful to stroll through. We went on the regular tour but will definitely go back for the Candlelight tour! Oh! And the Menagerie of Oddities & Curiosities Market that was taking place was super rad with local artisans and artists, can't wait to go back!

Great place to visit. Please remember....its a very old home so no air-conditioned tour. Super easy to walk. Very interesting story Just takes a few hours if you decide to look around. Kid friendly and senior. There are stairs to climb so be aware if you have walking issue.

What a unique experience! This house is definitely a sight to see… so many cool, interesting features and surprises you get to see during your guided tour. The house is also located near a beautiful outdoor shopping area and restaurants. Perfect to check out the house and head over to eat and shop.

It’s a must if your visiting the area, plan ahead and reserve 3 hours or more when you come here. It’s history is crazy and unbelievable, the house is beautiful and mysterious, take the tour and really look for details around the house ask questions, I promise you will enjoy everything from the tour. They also have a lantern tour late night which is scary and fun, but reserve your place it dose get full.

Have never been here before so I will review everything I did individually…. Oct 6- Unhinged experience VIP 930pm This is a fun experience for kids, but pricey and in my opinion not worth the price. Oct 7- spirit tour 150pm Fun and informative. Vic was a great host with a lot of stories and experience (I believe he has been there since 2018) Answered any and all questions- great host! A+ Oct 8- mansion tour Also fun and informative! Victoria was our host this day. It was only her second day and you would have never known it! She was wonderful. Answered all questions and was so much fun. Everyone truly enjoyed her, I feel she has a long time employment here (maybe even into the afterlife 🤣) I bundled the last 2 tours which made it a great deal. Also, these 2 tours take you to different parts and rooms of the house so I highly recommend doing both! I really loved all the stained glass in the house.

What a fun experience. The house is lovingly maintained and the grounds are exquisite especially the garden. It was fun to walk around after the tour. The tour guide was informative if not rehearsed but I guess that's to be expected after saying the same thing all day every day. Kind of funny to see this house and grounds smack in the middle of the city with condos and offices around but also loved the old photos of what the area looked like when it was originally purchased. Gift shop was well stocked with everything you could imagine. Fascinating story of Sarah Winchester.

Guided tours are neat. Regular tour is about an hour long. You are welcomed to a self-guided tour of the garden afterwards. The inside of the house can get stuffy wearing a mask in close quarters with other folks, although they do have fans along the way. I felt it was a fair value for the $43.00 per adult. They have different tours too. The docent was knowledge and entertaining.

Definitely a must see in San Jose, I attended a walk with the spirits tour. It lasted around 1 hour, or guide Katy was kind and very informative. The tour takes you through a lot of the house and there’s tight spots where you have to duck and wear a hard hat. So if you have mobility issues it could be a little challenging. Theres also stairs to climb. But overall a great tour. My group had a lot of fun!

For 13 years I've been waiting for this tour and it was worth every penny. The tour guide was fantastic, the gardens were easy to navigate and the gift shop was pretty alright. The gift shop was a tad expensive but if you want memorabilia it was perfect. I love this place and I hope to return another time.

It was interesting, the house was a novelty and a fun piece of history. Sarah, our guide, was nice and very knowledgeable. My other thoughts: the tour ran about 90 minutes, which was a little long for me at the end, though the most elaborate rooms are at the end so it ends on a high note. The price is very high, totalling $90 for the two of us. I've been to a lot of historic monuments, palaces, castles, etc. and that's the highest price I've ever seen. I don't think it's worth it-as a comparison, the Tower of London or Westminster Abbey is almost half the price. Interesting, but priced too high. Tickets sell out so you might want to reserve online.

I loved this place. So much history with hint of mystery. I was not expecting it to be surrounded by shopping centers or a mall. However, they do a good job at making you forget your are in the middle of this bustling city while you are touring the house and gardens. The house and its quirks are intriguing and thought provoking. Highly recommend.

We made a detour on our camping trip on our way home from the Coast of California and visited the Winchester Mystery House. You must do this tour! You'll be telling friends forever that they should go too! After we had a really great lunch in town at an upscale Mexican Restaurant just a 5 min. Walk from there. Great day!

Always wanted to stop and visit here. It is definitely worth the stop. We did the mansion tour with Gene who was a delight, and the Explore More tour with Tyler who was personal and knowledgeable. Its a very interesting story and the atmosphere to go with it. The Explore More tour is a worthwhile add on. You get to hear about the door to nowhere and the room with no doors. Benefits of seeing the tour and support the mansion that you don't get to experience in the main your.

We loved it. The house is amazing and our tour guide Tyler was very knowledgeable. I do have to say that she was rude very sarcastic with her "use comment senses". Not a deal breaker since she did answers all our question and stay behind to answer more. We loved the place and will be back to do the rest of the house soon.

I've been here a few times, most recently for their Halloween Unhinged event. Year-round, I recommend checking out their tours and gardens. They regularly host events. All spooky stuff aside, it's a beautiful estate with fascinating architecture.

  • 3/5 Sarah G. 8 months ago on Google
This place sounded really interesting on the website, so we made a long trip out to see it. Sadly although mildly interesting, they seemed to make a big deal about the number 13 everywhere as if this was spooky or something and it got a bit boring as we didn't seem to learn much else. 13 windows in a room with 13 panes of glass or floor boards or something. I would say it is worth seeing if you are next door, but not worth travelling miles to see. There are much better things to see in SF.

Cool tourist attraction & something you should see at least once if you’re a local. Great photo opportunities & beautiful gardens, however, it is rather overpriced and tours have no element of spookiness as I thought.

This place was on my bucket list. Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic, you are not allowed to go into the house, but man the outside is fantastic. Lots of picture options. The staff are friendly and brave in my opinion, as well as informative and helpful. Each one can regale you with few experiences of their own. Great tour, beautiful home. Ghost hunters must see, and even a must see for the non-believers. My favorite place was the gardens surrounding the Winchester house. Sitting there in the dark with the sounds of water fountains and crickets. Heaven. So going back when they open again for another tour.

Was here on Sunday and just loved the house. This place has been on my wish list ever since I have heard about it. It is def a must see for anyone in the area. Our tour guide Justin was great. Told a great story and was nice to me taking photos and made sure to keep the cabinet open so I can take a picture of what was inside of it. Ive been reviewing my photos and not sure if I caught something or not. I only wish the tour wasnt an hour and we had more time in the rooms but I understand why. The grounds are beautiful to walk around and really enjoyed taking my time outside looking around. If I am ever in the area I would take the tour again.

A cool Victorian Mansion in San Jose. The area seems to be up and coming with a new outlet mall across the street. The tour is interesting with the basic one taking you into 110 rooms out of 160. However, places as small as a vestibule and/or closet are considered rooms. Ironically the grandest areas of the Mansion are more or less rooms that the tour passes by. Is it haunted? My tour guide seemed to say that she has had a few paranormal situations within it.

  • 5/5 Crystal B. 4 years ago on Google
Highly recommend! Our tour guide, Tyler was great! So many windows and rooms. It had a lot of pretty views. We bought our tickets via groupon and got tickets via the cashier at the gift shop. Garden area was beautiful to walk around, too! My husband took all the photos, so I only have the few I took to post here.

Interesting place to visit. Well worth the experience and expect lots of walking. Interesting history of the Winchesters. The extended tour is also worth it. You get to go behind the scenes visiting the basement, attic and secret areas of the house. A room where your voice surrounds you, small room at the very high point of the home. You will have to wear a safety construction type helmet in certain parts of the extended tour. So to unfinished rooms with low pipes and ceilings. You do visit the creepier part of the home in the extended tour.

This place was magickal. So easy to get lost while walking through it. It truly is a mystery house with all the wonder and strangeness you'd expect. It's beautiful inside and out, it's history is so unique and I loved every second of it. One of the best historical houses I've ever visited and I will definitely go back again next time and every time I visit San Fran.

I went to the Winchester Mystery House looking for a creepy haunting experience, but what I got was so much better. The house has such a warm and inviting vibe I seriously never wanted to leave. In addition, the staff was wonderful, especially our Mansion Tour guide Victoria. She was knowledgeable, funny, informative, and spoke clearly so she was easy to understand. You can tell all the staff really respect Sarah Winchester and the beautiful house. It’s a must visit for anyone interested in the paranormal, or just lovers of architecture and stunning stained glass.

Me and my girlfriend came to this place when we were in San Jose for the weekend. I came into this tour knowing absolutely nothing about the house or the story behind it. We did the general tour and it was a great experience. The tour guide was great and kept the tour entertaining. The gift shop was filled with plenty of merchandise too. I think this is a must-see stop if you are ever in the area.

I've done this to her before many many years ago, so it was nice to come back and see the place again. I had my spouse with me, and he loves ghosts and mystery, so this was a must to see during our San Jose visit. I understand running the tour can be challenging. y You have a historic house, and you want to keep it quiet and intimate, but based on the sheer number of visitors that want to see this place, it could be hard to find that perfect balance of accommodation versus preservation. I'm happy to say that they pull it off very well. Despite it being a major tourist attraction in the city, the tours feel small, intimate, and not crowded or hurried. Our tour guides were great. There is an optional See-More tour, which is nice but not a necessity. You see enough of the house to get a true feel for it just on the primary tour, and the additional hour or so that the See-More tour takes could be a little bit tiring for some since you are on your feet quite a bit. Overall, a must-see when you're in the area especially for those intrigued by mystery and the spiritual.

been here twice and loved both times. you have to go at certain times if you want extra tours or special occasion tours lets say halloween or something like that. otherwise it's the same (reg) tour, or (extra) tour. same rooms. same tour. there is much more of the house that needs to be explored. self tours would be awesome. of course ppl will be ppl. but it can be repetitive and after a few visits it can lose it's aura . still a great place. cool rooms, nice giftshop , games and food.

LOVE this house and wish I lived nearby so I could tour it more often. It's been on my bucket list since I learned about the house back in the 80's and I was finally able to see it in 2019. I enjoyed the tour so much that I wished I could start all over as soon as it was finished. I also did the "see more" tour and that was also awesome. I loved being in the attic area and all the back areas that aren't part of the usual tour. I live in Vancouver, Canada, and will return to this wonderful house some day.

This house has to be haunted for sure. I'm not sure if the employees were playing a trick on us or not but I swear I followed a shadow around the hallway corner and it disappeared as soon as I rounded the corner. It gave me the heebie jeebies.

I love Winchester Mystery House. Growing up I loved coming here and as an adult too. I enjoyed the tour of the house. Hopefully I will come back for another tour some day when it re-opens again. I just love the house. Hopefully some day I can be able to spend the night at Winchester Mystery House some day and get the feel of the spirits that live there. God bless the employees who take care of the house.

Loved this place! The grounds are immaculate and the entire place is very well kept. The tour was informative and interesting. Spent 1 1/2 hours there but could have easily spent more time. The gift shop has a lot of fun items and some grab & go food. I highly recommend this place.

Though my family and I didn't get to see the inside of the house (due to covid), we had a lot of fun looking around the garden.

We did the self-guided tour of the gardens. Jim, one of the workers, stopped on his way around the garden to greet us, and he went out of his way to teach us new things about the Winchester House history. He was very friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. Thanks!

The tour guides were professional and every place was well taken care of. The craftsmanship of that house is phenomenal so it was wonderful to see but it left an unease in me because it felt like the whole venture was exploiting a woman's mental health problems and loneliness.

Was so excited to come here. No where on the website nor at the entrance do they tell you the house is not opened. Not acceptable. I suggest waiting until they fully open. Worst and quickest experience.
