REVIEW
OF
HOTEL
RESTAURANT:
We
ate
a
number
of
dishes
in
"La
Cocina,"
Hotel
Amomoxtli's
restaurant.
Overall,
we
were
disappointed.
FOOD
FLAVOR:
While
the
food
was
prepared
with
clearly
fresh
ingredients,
every
dish
seemed
to
be
missing
a
little
"something"
(flavor,
namely).
The
guacamole
looked
interesting,
with
grasshoppers
in
it,
but
the
flavor
was
bland
-
it
needed
onion
or
chili
or
something.
Ditto
for
the
ceviche.
The
accompanying
tostadas
made
on
site
were
also
hard
as
a
rock
and
inedible.
The
ensalada
was
fresh,
but
the
dressing
was
just
plain
olive
oil,
so
far
as
we
could
tell.
The
huachinango
fish
(the
most
expensive
item
on
the
menu
by
far)
was
a
little
dry
and
WAY
too
salty.
It
came
with
rice,
undercooked
plantains,
and
a
gorgeous
side
salad.
Everything
was
made
with
fresh
ingredients
and
the
tortillas
are
made
right
on
site.
None
of
the
dishes
came
with
serving
spoons,
so
we
used
our
personal
forks
in
shared
dishes,
which
was
a
little
uncomfortable.
MUSIC:
The
too-loud
KennyG
style
soft
jazz
music
(featuring
corny
covers
of
songs
by
Elton
John,
the
Beatles,
etc)
was
playing
on
repeat,
so
we
heard
the
same
songs
over
and
over
again.
SERVICE:
Nobody
came
to
refill
our
drinks,
ask
if
were
enjoying
our
meal,
or
otherwise
make
us
feel
attended
to.
When
we
asked
the
server
to
turn
down
the
volume,
he
said
ok,
but
then
he
didn't
do
it,
despite
there
not
being
many
other
diners
there.
DRINKS:
The
no-proof
drinks
were
DELICIOUS
-
we
had
the
naranjada,
and
some
of
the
aguas
sagradas
(including
cedar
and
sage
flavors).
ATMOSPHERE:
The
physical
atmosphere
was
beautiful
and
the
table
by
the
fan
was
much
appreciated
on
a
muggy
afternoon.
Despite
the
annoying
music,
the
place
is
visually
GORGEOUS.
OVERALL?
MEH.
All
in
all,
I'd
come
here
again
for
drinks
and
snacks
in
a
beautiful
atmosphere,
but
if
I
wanted
to
spend
some
$$$
on
a
nice
meal
I'd
go
elsewhere.
