Very pricey! I had hash-browns, gravy and 1 egg with toast. Paid 11.95!!! What the hell I’m traveling and on a budget thought I would save money the guy rude and not I even helpful as sometimes places would say what is more affordable to order, in top of that They serve frozen hash browns, I thought they would have homemade fresh hash browns and that’s why so much money! I wouldn’t recommend or even come back! Unless u like frozen food go for it!! This was my meal before I even touched it! I would like my money back!!

Hamburger, please. Hold the chunk of hair... I have been going to Frank Dog for the past 20+ years and it is what you would expect from a small college town: good food, priced well and in an old building. Today I met my family there for lunch and my oldest child (who is a little OCD about eating out), pulled a big chuck of hair out of his mouth after taking a bite from his hamburger. Not only did it ruin a $50 family lunch, but there is no way my son is going to eat at places like this again. I took the chunk of hair and showed it to the manager. I didn't ask for a refund as that would not have improved the situation, or for store credit because I will not be eating there anymore. None of their employees were wearing gloves or hairnets so I can see how it could easily happen. We won't be visiting this place again. Just gross.....

Classic and gourmet hot dogs. Really great options. Fries are crispy and seasoned well.

Underwhelming experience. Service was lacking. When I arrived, two employees were bickering about a high drama situation. Food was lackluster. The chili was less than stellar.

What a HUGE disappointment. $16 for a chilli dog, fries and a cup of water. The chilli dog was a sorry looking little gray sausage and a soggy bun floating in a pool of chilli and beans (with tomatoes) that had very little flavor. Apparently they are unaware that hot dog chilli is different than just chilli and beans you pour into a bowl. The fries were undercooked and the ketchup is clearly some cheap off-brand. The water was good and cold though. The service staff spent part of the time yelling at each other in the kitchen or behind the counter making it hard to actually hold a conversation. If Franks is famous for their hotdogs, maybe their reputation was made many years ago.

We were really excited and had high hopes for this place but we definitely weren’t impressed. Even my boys who will eat just about ANYTHING weren’t too thrilled. We placed a to go order, and after traveling all day we were pretty hungry, but none of us ended up even finishing our food. The meat on the burger was extremely dry and the cheese was rubbery. The deep fried hot dogs weren’t deep fried at all, and my moms hot dog had the weirdest grayish green hue to it that we began debating if it was even okay to eat. The fried zucchini and mozerella sticks were pretty sad, and we didn’t end up with a single napkin, ranch, ketchup packet or anything else for our huge order. Maybe it’s better if you eat in? Not to happy that we just spent $99 dollars for food that sucked. On the bright side the breakfast burrito was big and okayish.

I’ve heard a lot about this place and finally had the opportunity to give it a try. I’m hoping my experience was a one time thing, so I may give it another try. The best thing about my visit was the mozzarella sticks which were brought to us after the rest of our food because they were still cooking. The bacon dog I got was cold as was the bun it came in. My wife enjoyed her mushroom chicken sandwich. The fries were good, but got cold fast. I’m giving 3 stars instead of 2 because of the mozzarella sticks and the fact my wife liked her mushroom chicken sandwich.

Woah, what happened to Franks? I used to love this place…My wife and I took our son to eat here for his first time on Saturday, her and I hadn’t been here for years. My bacon cheeseburger was pretty good besides the SUPER crunchy bacon. The tomatoes, THE TOMATOES! on my wife’s Chicago dog and my sons cheeseburger were cut so horribly it was laughable! They were like an inch thick and just looked gross. My son got a chocolate milk, he’s 4, and the look on his face when he took a drink only to find it WARM could’ve broken the coldest of hearts. I wish I took a picture of those tomatoes though… The cooks obviously DGAF they’re back there laughing and talking constantly

Worlds largest breakfast burrito. I was thinking of grabbing this and eating it while I drive down the coast... my mistake, this guy needs two hands! It was amazing, I could have been full with half as much and it's not cheap, $11.50 with taxes but you will not be hungry all day. Be sure to grab some extra pico from the condiment area... so good!

Meh. I ordered the Chicago Dog…it was COVERED in celery salt so much that I had to wipe it off with a napkin, what a mess. Bun to dog ratio wasn’t good, they claim big weenies are best, but looks like size didn’t matter that much! The fries are like freezer bag French fries that taste just like hospital or school fries. Service was good, fun atmosphere and nice employees.

Many ways to make hotdogs and Frank's knows them all. Very tasty. Good size portions. Noisy inside but a fun atmosphere. You order at the counter but food is delivered to your table.

Dogs were all tasty really liked the franks dog in middle the Pic little heavy on the mayo and mustard but I would not have it any other way. Have not eaten the polish yet but looks and smells delicious bottom in Pic and La dog was very tasty also heavy on sauce but still delicious just mess to eat.

Great food in a very nostalgic red and white booth environment that is reminiscent of the classic American diner. They don’t sell combo meals here so you must order everything individually. A lunch with a hot dog, fries, and drink will set you back $18-$20+ a tip. I indulge here occasionally as it is a very peaceful atmosphere to dine in away from the office during a busy work day.

If I could give a half star, I’d give the place 3 1/2 stars. The hot dogs were average and the bacon on it was dry. The french fries were awfully bland no matter what me and my friend tried to put on them.

A favorite of locals and out of towners. Hot dogs and hamburgers are the staple here. The chili is top notch and very flavorful. A great spot to eat.

Cashier was extremely rude. Visiting the slo area and he did not make my arrival welcoming. Breakfast burrito was missing an item compared to my buddy’s that had the exact order.

BLT was awesome, crisp thick bacon, all good. My Cheeseburger? Eh, rather boring and the bun didn't hold up at all-got soggy before halfway thru, I was patching the bread together to hold the patty and fillings but ended up giving up, as I wiped the mess off my lap and seat. The staff were very friendly, animated, interacted and weren't robots behind a counter. I may go back and just eat there, well see.

WHAT! This place makes “the best” green chili verde burrito! Big chunks of tender flavorful pork, seasoned with a wonderful spiced chili verde sauce, egg, onions, peppers! Big enough to share, but I was going to share this big burrito but I saved 1/2 for my lunch the next day, happy I decided not to share! Maybe next time or not!
