Took a short trip to SLO for a concert. Booked a stay at the Apple Farm Inn. Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprise how lovely the grounds of the surrounding area were. Upon checking in, we were given fresh cookies and tickets for free wine tasting in the Apple Farm Cellar. They also offer coffee, tea and warm apple cider in the lobby after 5pm. Although the buildings seem older the interiors of the rooms were upgraded with great thoughtfulness to comfort and convenience. The the room was well situated and bed was very comfortable with crisp clean linens. Although our room was close to the street, literally right off the highway, relatively little noise could be heard from inside our room. In the morning we had breakfast at their restaurant. The coffee was great and our breakfast was delicious! We will definitely plan to stay there on our next trip! They offer great rates as well. Give Apple Farm Inn a try.

Excellent location for our needs with local charm, but not without flaws. I read reviews and was expecting a very basic inn. There are some cute touches, but the creature comforts are lacking for the pickier traveler. The bed really seems smaller than the advertised queen...I have a queen and slept on a queen the following city. The very firm tiny mattress was fine when I slept on my side - so more an issue of size not comfort. I did bring some of my own extra plush blankets to ensure I was warm enough. Pillows were subpar. The shower had extremely low or close to zero hot water pressure, but the bath tile and sink appeared to be updated in the last decade. I washed my hair in the sink with cold water. We did visit the restaurant and they seemed to be challenged with not enough qualified staff. Pancakes and eggs were good enough, but coffee was not to my liking. Lobby coffee and tea were a nice touch, with a slightly better brew in the lobby. I did get a text about free wine, but I was not able to enjoy it. A pleasant surprise was the two-person hot tub which was awesome after hiking and biking for two days...we did also get a kick out of the nightly frog serenades. Some of the car engines could be heard early but the benefit of a single story was no audible hotel door slamming or heavy-footed neighbors. Phoenix in the lobby was very friendly upon check-in.

I have to admit it has been a while since my last visit but I was disappointed by changes I found when I recently came by the other morning. The rear entrance was blocked off, meaning you had to walk around to the street side from the parking lot to get in. The majority of the large gift shop had been changed out for a bar. What was left of the gift shop had very few local products which I always thought was nice to support the community. The pastries that were there were very good but it seemed to be as much variety as any Starbucks. All in all what was there was nice I just wish there was more of it.

I have stayed at the Apple Farm many times and have always had a wonderful experience. After my most recent stay we will never be coming back! Not only has the Apple Farm gotten rid of everything that makes this hotel charming and a unique "wine country hotel". They have stripped most of the normal amenities, including properly cleaning of the hotel rooms. During our recent stay we checked-in to find our top sheet was grossly stained. When calling to ask for a replacement I was met with the response "I don't know if we have any clean ones to give you because all of our rooms are booked", what hotel does not have a back stock of clean comforters. In addition, our shower was covered in black hair and after walking around barefoot in the room for two minutes our feet were black (clearly the room was not properly cleaned). We asked the front desk if we could have the room cleaned and their response was "maybe, our cleaning staff is very busy so they may not have time to get to it". They were completely rude and uncaring (which was the attitude of most staff we talked to). When returning to our room later that afternoon the room was NOT cleaned. We checked with the front desk staff again and they made up a lie that we turned the housekeeping staff away when they came to clean our room, which was impossible because we had been gone all day. We immediately checked out of the hotel and stayed at the lovely La Quinta just down the street (where you can find kind front desk staff and clean hotel rooms). To make the situation worse, the night manager told us that due to our trouble there would be no charge for our stay which was not the case. The hotel charged our card for the full amount of our stay anyway. Thank goodness for good credit card companies that know fraud when they see it and can dispute charges. If I could give zero stars I would. The entire experience at the hotel was gross and unacceptable. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

We have come here for years, stayed at least 10-15 times and always enjoyed our stay. I don't know if its a new owner or manager or what, but this is a whole different hotel. It genuinely saddens us that the hotel has gone so far downhill. It used to be so well kept and beautiful, and certainly the rooms were cleaned between stays. Staff were always extremely friendly and helpful. I don't know what happened to cause such an extreme change, but you can tell even the staff don't want to be there anymore. The room was filthy, and was clearly not cleaned since the previous guests. The sheets had brown stains, the floor was covered in sand and leaves and there was long black hair all over the shower. We asked several times to have the room cleaned but were rudely told they were short staffed and might not get to it. On the afternoon of the second day when we again asked to have the room cleaned a young girl at the front desk informed us we had rudely turned away the cleaning staff, and lectured us on how that's not how to treat people. Only problem is we had not been in the room since that morning, and never spoke with any cleaning staff. She simply walked away, as if she didn't believe us. We were pretty appalled that she tried to turn it around and blame us for a dirty room. After this interaction we went back to our still disgusting room and decided we should check out early. I understand that they may be short staffed, but not cleaning the rooms between guests is unacceptable. Not to mention the general attitude of multiple staff was dismissive and rude. We will stay up the street at the La Quinta from now on, which by the way was cheaper for a new, clean room and decent breakfast.

The moment I made the reservation, I was treated so well. Top notch customer service, the most beautiful room. This is our 4 yr. Anniversary, and it feels like a mini honeymoon that we didn't have. I have a bum knee, and the front desk agent Krissy took the time to help me bring my luggage to my room. It had all been so special!!!

How often do you enjoy a hotel enough that you book another night? Well, that just happened to us. We got an economy trellis queen room, which was very small but nicely appointed, the first night. But the grounds and the location were so nice that we decided to stay another night. I asked about another type of room and I selected a room that had a private patio and Jacuzzi. When we transferred the next afternoon, I was pleased to go from a tiny room to a very spacious room with a nice Jacuzzi on the patio. Both rooms were furnished well, and were clean and comfortable. Both had fireplace, wood type floors and plantation shutters. Would highly recommend. Fresh cookies and coupons for wine tasting upon check in. Beautiful landscaping. Great breakfast restaurant!!! Will come back!

Sadly this place is not the same as it was. We stayed here multiple times for our anniversary. After this last time we are going to start staying elsewhere. In June of 2022 we arrived to find out that they switch our room from a jacuzzi room to a regular room. They informed us that they are taking out the jacuzzi rooms. We didn't appreciate being told that AFTER we had arrived. Also, their food at the restaurant is not the same at all. It use to be excellent food. Now it is ordinary. There are so many delicious restaurants in San Luis that there is not point seeking out their restaurant anymore. Finally, their adorable shop is gone. Not sure if they are bringing it back but that also was a disappointment. I am not sure why these changes have been made but our experience left us feeling sad that such a great place had been adjusted to the point that it is not so special anymore. I would like to note that the staff were 5 stars. The room we stayed in was very cute, comfortable, and clean.

I didn’t stay here, but I stopped by to look around. Worth visiting for that alone! Cute stop full of history! There’s an old vehicle that you can actually sit in and touch! Looked like a museum piece, so it was a very fun and special experience. There’s an old operating water wheel, plenty of relaxing area to sit at, a pool, and a gift shop with wine tasting and a well-kept restaurant on the second floor that is like walking into the past.

Staying here was one of the most enjoyable hotel stays I've had. The Ambiance is beautiful the decor is fitting and the staff is friendly in the rooms are clean. We stayed in the Mill room and the jacuzzi was awesome. Me and my wife both agree that this will be something we do far more often than just once a year

We stayed here overnight on a drive up the coast. It was very conveniently located just off 101. The rooms and grounds were clean. The whole vibe was quaint, very unique. The room had a gas fireplace. There was coffee, tea, and cider available from morning until evening. They offered a few wine tasting in the evening and discount from their store for staying in the hotel. We weren't able to try out the restaurant.

Look out for hidden charges at this hotel! The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is quaint but unless you take a screen shot of what you booked your room for you could be in for a surprise. I booked online on their site for $150/night but when I looked at my final charges I was charged $300+ for one night and 175.00 for the next; adding on resort fees and taxes and I got smacked with a $500+ bill!! For a 2 night stay that's a bit pricey for a hotel that is not walking distance to shopping/restaurants .

We were impressed with the lodging and with the helpful staff. Our room in the main lodge had a large King bed with a creekside view, seemed recently refurbished and was very quiet even with the windows open. There were soft-baked cookies and apple cider at check-in, a complimentary afternoon wine tasting (local distilled spirits too!) and coffee/tea available 24/7. Overall, a great stay and highly recommended.

The checkin desk only has so many cookies and so much wine a day, if you check in too late they will be unable to provide you with your complimentary cookie or wine. There is no complimentary breakfast of any kind . The information on the website is letting you know the restaurant sells breakfast between a specific times, not that there is any food beyond the cookie included with your room rental. This motel does an amazing job of letting you know about ammenenties you probably don't care about until they can't give you what is promised in their marketing material. It's rather strange and oddly off-putting. The coffee is also really, really bad.

This has been my favorite for 30 years. The ambiance is so peaceful that your transported to another time. Unfortunately the restaurant hours have been limited to breakfast only on select days. However they still offer hot apple cider in the hotel lobby and tours of rooms if any are available. Can't wait to come back to sleep and eat here.

This was my first time visiting the inn and I had a very pleasant experience. Upon arriving, I was given a sweet treat and tickets to sample the wine cellar’s wine. The staff especially, Cameron, was patient and accommodating to my needs. I will book this place again in the future :)

I love this place. There was a hiccup with our reservation from their website but we were able to smooth that out upon arrival. The staff are super friendly and welcoming. They even give warm homemade chocolate chip cookies that are the bomb. They also have a wine 🍷 time and provided coupons for their little country store. The rooms are clean and spacious and the beds are comfortable. The pool area is small and intimate, and the perfect layout area for guest. I didn’t go in the hot tub, but, it seemed to be a nice attraction for the other guests. I’m spoiled by Internet tv which wasn’t available, and the Wi-Fi connection could be better. But that didn’t interfere with great time or our stay. The grounds are will kept and the entire building is so clean. They are really conveniently located and a short distance from downtown. Tons of parking for the guest and the cutest old car in the front for photos opts. We loved our stay and we will be back.

We heard over the years that this was a great place to visit. The king-size room we had was nice. The front desk service is very good. They do not change or make your bed. If you need a towel change, you must request it. The grounds are nice and well maintained. The restaurant only serves breakfast. Thus, you must plan lunch or dinner in advance. Parking towntown is limited. Some restaurants don't take reservations. Thus, we waited almost an hour to be seated. Many of the stores downtown are vacant. The Apple Farm is a nice place to go, especially if you are looking for a relaxing kick back place to good.

This was the most charming hotel on the central coast. Went here for 2 decades. Once upon a time was charming English country style, it evolved over time to more American but still very quaint. About a decade ago a redesign to make it modern prompted so much pushback they split the difference half and half between classic rooms and modern. That went while for a while. Then new ownership again and then the pandemic reduced profits and their solution was to ruin the decor in both the restaurant and rooms. Took it from charming country to cowboy river. Horrible. Won’t return.

Rooms are small(at least our queen room was), but very cute and quaint. Had a mini fridge, but no microwave. We had a toddler with us. He didn’t like the room because there wasn’t room for him to run around and toddle. I didn’t mind it as we were only staying one night. The entire property is a sort of magical place with a water mill, an old truck, and flowers and plants everywhere. The atmosphere was incredible. The swimming pool was small, but was everything we needed. Hot tub included. They give you two free glasses of wine and two freshly baked cookies upon arrival. Despite offering online registration, they were not accommodating early arrivals, as we were told to come back in two hours. Also, they’re card programming machine was down, so the only way to enter one’s room was to request an employee unlock the door for you. A small inconvenience, and everyone at the property were far more inconvenienced than the guests and yet still had smiles on their faces.

I stayed here for one night for a wedding that was at the Madonna Inn. The accommodations were mediocre but the room was clean and comfortable. It was also very noisy but the reservation comes with a warning based on the location of the room. I made my reservation through the Booking app - the concierge seemed really confused and made me provide my cc info again even tho my payment was already set up in the app. I ended up getting double charged and almost a week later I still have not received my refund. While it is out of the Inn’s hands how long it takes to get a refund, this should have not even happened in the first place. They seem good intentioned but I am likely not staying here again.

I stayed at the Apple Farm over Christmas 2021. I WAS Impressed, mattress was Great!, Very Clean Room, Friendly Staff!, they moved me to another room with me just asking!!! I didn’t like the view 😊. The food was OK & the wait acceptable. For 10 years I covered 7 states in the West, I know too much about inferior ones. I WILL be returning. Thanks Apple Farm 👍

Apple Farm Inn was convenient, relatively comfortable and quiet, but far from the "luxury" accommodations advertised on the website and at the $350 per night price point. Bed was comfortable enough. Check-in process very easy. Little extras like fresh cookies and sparkling Martinelli's in the room, and a wine reception (we were worn out from the road and didn't get to attend). The Market attached to the restaurant had lots of different local items from producers in the area of the Inn. The restaurant only had 7 things on the breakfast menu which was very little variety so we went down the highway to Pismo Beach for breakfast instead. For $350 including tax, which was for a King Specialty room (as opposed to a regular King room), we were pretty disappointed. Perhaps we didn't get to perceive the full value because we were only stopping for one night, but the Inn is definitely showing its age. In our room we could see where the former decorative swirling pattern on the carpet was worn off of high-traffic areas in the room but clearly present under the console table and in the corners, for example. The wall in the bathroom had been painted in a striped pattern but there were clearly places that the wall had been damaged and had drywall or plaster repaired that weren't smoothed out to match the rest of the wall and were just painted over. The bathroom tile and fixtures hadn't been updated in quite some time and we perceived it as mostly just okay. We were driving the Pacific Coast Highway on a couples vacation and the Apple Farm Inn was easily the most expensive room we stayed in, including places like Mendocino and San Francisco, so I imagined details like that would have been considered given the price of the room. I understand that the aesthetic of the Inn is sort of a vintage country style, so my observations have nothing to do with the vintage style of the furniture or the wallpaper, etc., and more to do with old fixtures, old carpet, and other details that were below my expectations for the price point. Considering the website bills the property as "luxury" lodging and that the King Specialty rooms are described as "Luxurious" with "exquisite attention to detail," in this way the Apple Farm Inn failed to meet the mark. It was a quiet and pretty comfortable place to sleep, but nothing about the property was perceived as luxury or exquisite especially for $350 a night.

We showed up on Thursday night with no reservation. The hotel was pretty much sold out. We had a very nice, helpful man named Steve trying to find us a room. Not only did he get us in, but our rooms were spectacular. We were two couples and we wanted to stay one more night and we were able to keep our same rooms with the great juggling the hotel desk did to get us covered. I love this place and will definitely come back again soon.

Been staying at the Apple Farm since childhood and, though I've had many wonderful time there growing up, the hotel has changed a lot in recent years since being acquired and I'm not a fan. They no longer have a shop at the restaurant area nor a walk in at the mill section. There used to be a smaller boutique hotel feel that is no longer there and the prices are pretty exorbitant. I will say the rooms are lovely and the room service / turn down is so nice.
