I visit the SLO area regularly and being a Hilton Gold Member we normally stay at Hilton properties. This was our first time at this property. We booked for one night , and were so pleased with the room and the service we got from staff, we extended our stay another night. So why the one star review? 100% due to my experience with hotel managers one week later. When we left on Mon(9/11/23) we realized we ended up leaving a gold ring in the bathroom. We were already 100 miles away in the afternoon but I called to see if anyone turned it in. I reached a man at the front desk who was nice enough to check with house keeping for me. I shared that we had been in room 403. After he put me on hold for a bit, he got back on the phone and confirmed they had it. I was so happy and asked if they would hold the ring until 9/17 when I would be back in town and I could come pick it up. The ring is only worth about $200, but it had sentimental value. He said yes and even took my name and phone number again. He told me to be sure and bring my ID and I could pick it up on 9/17. So on 9/17 when I showed up, I showed my ID to the young man at the desk and told him my story. He was very nice, but didn’t know anything about it. Another employee however said “oh yeah I remember something about a ring”. However when they checked lost and found it was not there. They searched the desk and still could not find it. They went and got a woman who appeared to be a manager of some sort. I told my story again and while she also knew nothing about the ring, the other employee showed her an email or communication of some sort that confirmed what I was saying. She told her it was logged as a claimed item and that I would be back on 9/17 to claim it. At this point I had been there for about 15 mins waiting. The woman could not find it and kept saying some one named Chris would be back at 2pm and he would have another key to an office she could not get into so they could check there. She was very frazzled and I assumed that was due do the hotel having no computers and possibly also that she had her child in her office. Turns out Chris was Christopher Peña the General Manager. When he arrived I had now been there for over a half hour and my frustration was mounting. He looked some more, and please keep in mind during this entire time they were talking about the situation and me like I was not even standing there. I had to keep interjecting and correcting them as to the chain of events. At the point their shuttle pulled up full of pilots getting ready to check in , it was clear the GM was done looking and he came out and loudly said “who is the individual having this issue “. He introduced himself and I again attempted to explain what happened and he more or less cut me off and said nothing more could be done and he would have to “launch an investigation “. At that point I was really upset and attempted to voice that frustration. I did not use foul language, or raise my voice, but was still promptly cut off by Mr. Peña and again told nothing more could be done. I asked for his bosses name and he refused at first to give it to me and said as far as I was concerned he was the only boss. He finally gave me the name Michael Ashley but refused to provide any contact information. He actually said “my boss has no phone”. Again I have now been there for close to 40 minutes being given the run around on the location of my ring that 5 days ago they told me they had. I asked him if I needed to file a police report as it sounded like it just disappeared. He said you can if you want, but then he said it is a big hotel and “who knows where the young man I spoke to put it and he won’t be back until Monday. Then when I asked if I could come back when he was there to see if they could find where this logged item was , Mr. Peña told me I was no longer welcome on their property. He then proceed to lean in and in a low voice told me to “leave the property and I was no longer welcome back “. I have filed a formal complaint with Hilton.

BEST Hilton Hotel I've stayed in on the West Coast from San Diego to S.L.O.! Read all comments under Google & Trip Advisor for the S.L.O. area, and chose this one. Friendly, welcoming, clean room! Easy access to area. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is pretty old which I was ok with. The hallways were filthy which I could live with but the fact that my room wasn’t clean is the deal breaker. The two days I was there I never saw anyone with a vacuum. The floors were so dirty it doesn’t look like they have vacuumed in a while. The tiles in the room were sticky. This place is charging 50,000 points a night which I paid for a beachfront hotel. It is ridiculous over priced for what you get. Definitely not up to a Hilton property. The were just getting ready to start renovating the property but that’s not an excuse to have dirty rooms. Plus it was a week night and not very busy. The only reason I am giving two stars is because the staff was friendly.

Rooms were clean expect for the food left in the fridge and the open can of dog food on the floor. And we got put on the top floor (4th floor) and both elevators for the hotel were down. Not fun with two toddlers to go up and down stairs with luggage. Also the pool was out of commission. For how much I paid, I would expect things to be working and rooms to be clean. I understand things break, but then I shouldn't be charged full price. And yet the staff didn't even bother offering a discount.

This is my first time staying in a Hampton Inn. I love the room. The bed is comfortable. The couch is comfortable. The desk and chair are just right. And there has been a nice breakfast each morning I've been here. I'd definitely book here again.

This Hampton cost well more than $100 over the general Hampton per-night rate. The parking lot is fulfilling for the expected truck accommodations, but having the downtown experience would require a $40 Uber round trip: THAT doesn’t justify the $100+ “surcharge.” Although I appreciate being let into the breakfast buffet room early at 5:50 am, they did not have the expected pineapple and berries on the buffet: THAT doesn’t justify the $100+ surcharge - even had I known, the Whole Foods where I could have picked some up at was a quarter mile away which is too far of a walk on a time sensitive trip. I initially wanted to give 2 stars, but I have to hand a third for the room refrigerator for having a freezer compartment which is unfortunately rare nowadays in all hotels - I don’t think the freezer compartment adds enough refrigerator energy cost near enough to need the revenue of a $100+ per night surcharge on all occupied rooms; why I gave 5 stars to the he rooms category. However, it did fulfill all the other Hampton expectations such as comfortable beds, clean operational restrooms and friendly service.

Location I thought was in a nice area close to places to eat. The hotel itself was nice overall and a very nice restaurant/bar area to hang out in. My issue was a I booked a specific room due to the location at the hotel amd recieved a notification the day of my stay they moved me. I didn't care until I seen where they moved me which was in an area that was basically a hallway closet style area away from where I wanted to be. I asked the front desk why the change and they didn't have any reason. Normally this would not be an issue but in this case the room was very old and the ac did not work. Since it had been a long day of driving I just stayed in it. Probably wouldn't stay here again while I work in the area often but if you get a better room at the hotel is not that bad location wise.

I used to love Hampton Inns, but their new "brand standard" is for extra firm mattresses that leave my husband and me feeling like we slept on a boulder. The thin optional mattress topper barely helps. Such a disappointment. I always relied on Hampton for a clean, comfortable (usually pet-friendly) home away from home. But interrupted sleep and being barely able to walk the next morning outweighs my brand loyalty. Makes me very sad.

Van driver was so friendly, he is awesome! 5 star service!! I wanted to do laundry, but my 3 coins got stuck and I wasnt able to use the dryer. It didnt give my money back. Also the bathroom door in my room was…weird. Why is it so heavy? It was kind of annoying. Not convenient when I’m running around trying to get ready in the morning. I had to prop open the door with another piece of furniture. Other than that, I liked everything about this hotel.

Called 3 weeks before to book rooms. Got to the hotel and my rooms were Not Available! Finally got me some rooms but it wasn’t the ones we booked. Waste of money!! Hotel still charged me the same price even though the rooms were not comparable. Got to the rooms and NONE of the keys were working. The keys stopped working every day. Had to go down and get the keys fixed and no one was at the desk for over 15 minutes! Rooms are out dated and Ethel people at the front desk are lost.

Wow! I've never felt more welcomed by a hotel staff before. Lady at the front desk was so kind when we arrived late at night! Rooms are clean and neat. The free buffet breakfast was served and was great! The lady servicing breakfast was really sweet and helpful. Mountainous views from our room. Highly recommend staying here! Exceeded my expectations!

Erin was very nice and gave me best impression on the first night I was at the hotel. She did everything to make sure that I am comfortable with the room I am provide. Also, thank you to Florencia to always keeps Room clean and neat. Staff You're always ensure that I meet all my needs. I know it's a bit pricey, but to compromise with the comfort and happy when you spend time there. It's worth to pay!

This place lied to me. Google or TripAdvissor listing said jacuzzi. I called to make sure it was working. She apologized and said it was under renovation and sister resort would have one. Towne Place Suites does not have a jacuzzi. This was only reason we chose this place.

This hotel is over priced with lack of service, lack of professionalism and lack of Wifi. Bathrooms aren't clean, hair in the sheets and non working wifi. (Being charged Over $200 per night for motel 6 quality) Some, not all of the front desk staff is beyond useless. Would be nice if they could treat diamond status guests a bit better. The courtyard is next door, should have stayed there.

Well-decorated and clean building/suites. I stayed with my 3 young children. We loved the breakfast. And the front desk was very helpful and kind. We used grubhub for dinner delivery that worked out perfectly.

I am lucky to stay at this hotel many times for business. Rooms are clean, gym is GREAT! (I love a good gym) And love the fresh fruit for breakfast. I want to mention a great employee. Her name is Patty, she was working the overnight shift on Sunday evening, April 16th. Despite working all night, she was friendly and approachable. KUDOS to her. I do look forward to coming back. Also Reggie, our cheerful Van Driver is always happy and makes your quick drive to the Airport a very enjoyable one. Thank You. -Jet Hyland

Clean building, smells good and new. Good breakfast time (6am to 10am). Downside: pool and hot tub are closed. TV programming (satellite) is mostly advertising channels. All of the hand sanitizer stations are not functional. Staff seem so serious but efficient. Demeanor should perk up a little more to at least feel "welcoming."

No service for bathroom, trash even when we asked. see photo as staff told us to leave used towels/trash on floor outside door..Unheathly way to provide a 'clean' environment for people, kids etc walking down corridors

The hotel was very clean. Unfortunately house keeping took my apple AirPods from my room. Management is unwilling to remedy the situation which is why I’m giving 2 stars.

Although a bit pricey for what it is, everything was fine. Room was comfy and clean and quiet. Located right off the highway so its easy to get around town. Essentials such as Target, BevMo and food within 5 mins.

GREAT HOTEL AND GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE My husband and I recently stayed one night at the Hampton Inn and Suites San Luis Obispo. The hotel is conveniently located with lots of parking. The staff is friendly and responsive, the place is clean as a whistle and the breakfast offerings, although simple, did not disappoint. We had a problem with noise in the parking lot during our stay, which is very unusual in our experience with Hilton hotels. We spoke with the temporary manager Zack M. in the morning and explained the problem to him. He was extremely concerned and responsive and went 100% of the way to make sure that our stay was satisfactory. All the way around we had an excellent stay and even more importantly, excellent customer service from this hotel.

Great stay. No issues other than the lack of daily room cleaning. They really need to bring it back. Daily cleaning is much better than we weekly deep clean. Ppe in an unoccupied room makes COVID transmission nearly impossible. So there's really no reason not to clean rooms daily. Unless they're just trying to get rid of house keeping in general...
