👍👍 Most authentic omakase in CDMX! The restaurant only has about 8 - 10 seats, so reservation is needed. Upon entering, there is a slight smell of fried food since it’s an open kitchen in a small space, but not overpowering. The dinner omakase menu is priced at 2,000 mxn per person, which I think is... Most authentic omakase in CDMX! The restaurant only has about 8 - 10 seats, so reservation is needed. Upon entering, there is a slight smell of fried food since it’s an open kitchen in a small space, but not overpowering. The dinner omakase menu is priced at 2,000 mxn per person, which I think is reasonable for the quality & quantity of food. Their drink menu is extensive with a great selection of sake. The only dish that I personally did not enjoy was the chawanmushi. It was a more Mexican fusion take on the dish, whereas I prefer the traditional silky steamed egg. Everything else is on point - from the fresh seafood, amazing sushi rice, to homemade dessert. Would love to come back on a weekday when they offer ala carte menu. The service is attentive and personable. This place is celiac-friendly! They are knowledgeable about gluten-free requirements, and very kindly & carefully replaced dishes that contain gluten (since we cannot have tempura, soy-sauce marinated fish & miso soup) and provided gluten-free soy sauce. We had a great time getting to know the chef as well. A wonderful dining experience that will make you want to return often.

I really can’t recommend this sushi restaurant in Mexico City. The service was extremely poor. We had the Omakase menu (the only option) which is $100 USD per person. With a bottle of Sake the meal ended up being around $230 USD. A few notes about the poor service. 1. They asked for any food allergies at the beginning of the meal. I told them I can’t eat eggs and they made a note of it and then proceeded to serve me a dish that is literally only made out of egg. It’s not a large restaurant with only a few parties / couples so it’s not like this was difficult to get right. 2. It took around 30+ minutes to pay, and I had to ask for the bill first and then ask again for a terminal. This was after 30 minutes of waiting! 3. There was zero discussion or questions about how our meal was. After 30 minutes of waiting to pay we just were asked how much we want to tip. I’d say this is a minor point but after having a not so great experience this did not feel great at the end of the night. For a $200++ USD meal and a fine dining experience it was extremely disappointing. The food was decent but for a high end Omakase meal I’d give it a 1/5. There are however, many other great sushi restaurants in Mexico City that you can try instead of this one!

Don’t waste your time. I wonder how they got all these 5 star reviews, its the worst Omakase I have ever tried. Cheap fish, zero explanation of the dishes, extremely long waiting time between each course, not to mention the attitude that chef had towards us, making fun of us with his coworker literally in front of us, thought we didn’t understand Spanish. Honestly, we didn’t pay thousands to be treated like s**t

I'm a Japanese food enthusiast that regularly goes to Japan to done at some of the most awesome restaurants in the country. When my friend made a reservation here for a catch-up dinner I had no idea what to expect, but left a very happy man. The service was intimate (just the sushi bar), and the service was excellent. We did the full omakase course, and spent over three hours enjoying the sushi and a few bottles of sake and shochu. The chef has been in the industry 35 years, and has worked in Japan, the US, and Mexico. Accordingly, he speaks Japanese, Spanish, and English fluently. An interesting guy to get to know during your experience. It's not cheap, but for the quality and experience it's a good investment imho. I'll be back.

A delicate, refined and peaceful dining experience. The fish was just divine - esp the tuna and scallop - and it was just a well-paced omakase. Staff was really personable.

Excellent omakase and super authentic edomae style sushi. Chef was kind and helpful in explaining each step. We enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning.

Best sushi I have had in Mexico by a mile. Rivals some of the best omakase restaurants in NY. No frills in terms of interaction with the sushiya, but they are laser focused on serving you an impeccable meal from start to end. Small, but nice sake selection as well.

Was impressed with the Omakase here. Some of the items had a slight Mexican flair, which I thought was cool. Great sake options as well.

What a gorgeous place with exquisite food and excellent staff. Everything is perfectly attuned and this is a true gem for Japanese food in Mexico. The place has an intimate and familiar atmosphere as it has pace for up to 12 people. We had the set menu and every dish was delicious and prepared in front of our eyes. Really enjoy the concept of watching while the food is being prepared and learn more about the ingredients and preparation methods. I think the pictures speak for themselves and communicate well our food experience which was absolutely worth it. Overall, can highly recommend this place to everyone who enjoys good Japanese food in a intimate environment. It’s a nice area to walk around and there are plenty of parking options nearby.

Here is the deal. A highly memorable experience. I had the expensive Omakase. If you want great food, Tokyo like experience. Go here. Did I say memorable? It amazes me sometimes how many meals I’ve had that I have totally forgotten. I won’t forget this one.

I love true edoame sushi and omakase experiences. Here, sadly the expectation which is set by the price is not at all met by the food and the experience. I have no issue paying a fair price for an true edoame omakase, but here I left feeling taken advantage of. The fish is pre cut, and the nigiri are hastily prepared. The food does not taste bad at all, just nowhere close to expectation. The chefs are not welcoming and just simply spool down their routine, looking like they do not really want to be there. I Will not be returning.

$3,000 for Omakase consisting primarily of chewy white fish (red/yellow snapper, sea bass). No salmon and only two pieces of tuna- one lean and one fatty which was seared. You might like this if you love chewy white fish, but it’s still priced too high for what you get. Also very sleepy atmosphere and music made it difficult to stay awake while waiting 15 minutes between each small plate. Only positive is the good sake menu.

Incredible Omakase experience at half the cost of the US or Europe. We took the omakase with Japanese and Mexican fish. The head chef was very attentive, and a pleasant conversationalist (Japanese, Spanish, and English). Highly recommend to anyone.

Was just ok. Probably the best Omakase in CDMX, but that’s not saying much. Felt overpriced for the value - some particularly odd dishes were the huevo dulce, a single bite of scrambled egg with sugar added? And the dessert, which was some kind of sweet potato cupcake that left much to be desired. Wouldn’t return - go to Wabi Sushi instead for an equally high quality, more filling meal at 1/3 the price

An Executive Chef's review of SUSHI KYO. How to begin...part of my training was in Tokyo Japan. From my years in Japan, one of the cornerstones you learn, is a sensibility between, the mind, the heart, the hand, and the food. Chef Aoki has accomplished this with his omakase set menu. You are offered two options, Omakase A $1,500, & Omakase B $2,000. We selected option B by chefs recommendation. I will not go into detail plate by plate, that is not what this review is about, furthermore the plates change frequently, based on season and availability. Chef Aoki uses providers that practice sustainable fishing, which is a must in todays world. This care in choosing a good provider is reflected in each plate, which is prepared with care and over the watchful eye of Chef Aoki. The flavors start delicate, and over the night, ever so slowly build in complexity but maintain a balanced approach. All the flavors are authentic and true to a Japanese pallet. The timing between plates is perfect, creating a relaxed Omakase set, that finishes as smoothly as it started. So many other Japanese restaurants in the city that offer Omakase, like Rokai & Hiyoko, are still trying to master this timing. In closing, I highly recommend Sushi Kyo. Reservations are a must, seating is limited to 12. The space is very clean and you are surrounded by a very ordered environment. You feel centered and relaxed, and the seating is comfortable. The staff is efficient, and attentive to all your needs.

One of the best omakase experiences. Intimate location, great service, top quality sushi, and a filling amount. We had a wonderful experience watching the master chef at work.

The food is great! But really expensive, probably the most i have ever spend on a meal! You only get a spot for two hours so don’t waste your time talking
