Advice
on
how/where
to
ride,
some
of
the
best
playas
(beaches)
-
"Perfecto"
flexibility
as
I
changed
bikes
after
a
couple
of
days
to
ride
the
route
around
the
island
(wanted
to
ride
something
besides
a
"geared
cruiser")
and
my
family
didn't
want
to
do
that
ride
-
Offered
snorkeling
equipment,
locks
and
helmets
as
well
Just
an
exceptional
experience.
If
anyone
is
really
considering
the
island
and
getting
around
and
you
are
in
reasonable
bicycling
shape,
this
is
a
tremendous
way
to
go.
It's
very,
very
safe.
There
are
bike
lanes
on
most
of
the
island.
If
you
are
comfortable
riding
on
streets
in
the
US,
you'll
be
more
comfortable
here.
It's
a
ton
safer.
Take
a
LOT
of
water
and
sunscreen.
I
rode
the
island,
about
40
or
so
miles
around
the
island
and
it
was
amazing.
The
western
side
of
the
island
isn't
as
"busy"
as
the
tourist
side,
I
think
I
saw
maybe
10
cars
and
motorbikes
during
my
morning
ride
and
it
was
really
serene--expect
many
iguanas,
raccoons
and
birds.
Most
of
the
western
side,
95%
has
a
protected
bicycle
lane
and
the
Eastern
side
either
has
a
protected
bicycle
path
(past
the
tourist
zone)
or
a
bike
lane.
The
Transversal
that
goes
across
the
island
also
has
a
bicycle
lane
on
the
right,
while
not
"protected"
I
would
consider
really
safe.
Pro-tip:
Ask
Phillip
the
wind
direction
and
heed
his
advice.
I
ignored
his
advice
because
I
was
returning
the
bicycle
and
it
made
more
logical
sense
to
ride
south
from
the
tourist
zone,
west,
north
and
then
back
east.
Welp,
I
pedaled
numerous
kilometers
against
the
wind.
I
lived,
but
the
cycling
would
have
been
more
enjoyable
the
other
way
for
certain.
Highly
recommended.
Thank
you
Phillip.
Cycling
Cozumel
was
one
of
the
highlights
of
my
trip.
