A birthday celebration visit here with friends for drinks and appetizers was overshadowed by injury caused by a careless waiter. As sunset ended and we were enjoying cocktails, a waiter squeezed behind me to fold up a large sunbrella. As he rapidly twisted the folds around the pole to tie them together with a rope, there was a long, sharp piece of metal attached to the end of the rope that went flying horizontal across my neck and back. It was very painful and felt like I was slashed with a knife. Other patrons saw it as well as those at our table but the waiter took off without saying a word. The head waiter came over to take our order and acted though nothing had happened. Those at my table explained what happened as I was still in obvious pain. He just stood there and said "oh really? So what would you like to order?" While it obviously was not intentional, it DID happen and should have been acknowledged by management but instead the focus was just to get more food orders out of our table.

Wife did not want to eat anywhere else. She loved the food and the service. Place is right on the beach. Great place to go for dinner with a view of sunset. Great place for breakfast and then snorkeling downstairs. Then happy hour.:) She liked this place too much. You will lovve the food but come back because the service is wonderful.

I had the shrimp tacos and my husband had the coconut shrimp. I preferred the shrimp tacos because I personally didn't feel up to eating anything fried. I'm not a cilantro fan, so I did remove that from my tacos. Everything was very fresh and seasoned perfectly. The service was and usually is very friendly and accommodating. The server and I were talking about how much both of us enjoyed fresh coffee. I never knew that they sell a special blend of coffee here. Needless to say, I bought a bag of beans.

This restaurant offers very yummy food with great service with an amazing ocean waterfront view. We got the seafood platter and it was very delicious, I wish it had a bit more seafood for the price in Mexican pesos, but a great deal compared to US restaurants, and it had a great variety of seafood. Everyone was happy with their order and dishes. We happened to go during happy hour so everyone got two for one drinks, this was a welcome surprise. The view is amazing as it it is next to the water with a great view of the Mexican Caribbean coast and horizon. There is a small beach on the side of the restaurant, but it is mostly rocky. There is also a small dock where you can access the water directly without walking through the rocky areas in case you want to go for a swim. Super sabroso y bien atendido, buen provecho 😃

I booked a romantic dinner for my husband's 50th birthday, and I must say this was an unforgettable night. Not only was the food excellent, but the service was extraordinary. Manny the manager came to meet us and get a feel for how we wanted our 5 course meal prepared. Alex our waiter was very attentive to the finer details, but not to the point where we couldn't enjoy the sunset. We've been to lots of high end restaurants, but this dining experience is at the top of my list. If you are looking for a place to take the wife or hubby while in Cozumel, I highly recommend this ocean side gem, La Monina!

This was my sixth trip to Cozumel, yet somehow our first time visiting La Monina. I wish we'd have found this gem sooner! After finally stopping in, my family ate and drank there three times in two days! We just couldn't get enough of this great restaurant right on the water. Guacamole is made fresh at your table, drinks are generous, and food is flavorful. The price is reasonable and worth every penny. Excellent service, casual island atmosphere, live music, and gorgeous view, especially at sunset. We will definitely be visiting La Monina on our next trip later this year.

They had a happy hour until 5 pm and beer was 2-1. The food was excellent and very well priced for the beachfront location. Alex was our server and he did a great job. They have an upper deck you can dine at and then go downstairs and have tables and direct access to the water. A nice pier to walk off of and snorkel. We saw tons of fish as well as an eel.

This is an awesome diamond that surely is not well known. Came to cozumel to celebrate 60th birthday. Wanted steak, place was closed. Taxi driver recommended LA monina. Fantastic cervice, fresh shrimp, fish, and octopus. A crispy cheese with fresh guacamole, awesome calamari. And HUGE portions. 4 people filled up with appetizers that no room for main meal. As good as the appetizers, had to try the desert. BEST tiramisu ever! Will go back!

Nice little place adjacent to a beach park, reasonable prices. We had Mahi mahi with sautéed veg, an additional side of veg, chicken fingers with fries and three beers. About $48USD. Chicken, fish and veg cooked to perfection. Fish could've used a bit more seasoning, but happy it wasn't over salted like some I've had in Cozumel. Alex was the best server I've had in a long time, attentive, cheerful but not hovering. Beautiful views. Great place overall.

Had a great lunch at this little seaside restaurant with amazing views of the ocean and cool breeze blowing. The service was top notch and they even came to make a table side salsa which was spicy and good, kept going back for more of the burn. The food choices are ample and fresh from all types of Mexican cuisine and comfort food. The wings I had were tasty and the beer was cold like it should be. So if you are in Cozumel and fancy a relaxing seaside cuisine do pop in and enjoy.

Beautiful atmosphere right by the water. The staff are friendly and they have a 2-for-1 happy hour on beers from 12-5pm. You can sit at a table in the sand or under their covered patio. Rent snorkel gear and swim in the water. Definitely worth a visit!

This place was amazing!! I will say, it wasn't very busy and took a bit for the food but we were in no hurry so it wasn't even an issue! Just maybe if you are pressed for time, keep that in mind! It was WELL worth the wait. So delicious and the service was great!

One of the most amazing restaurants on the island! It’s a great experience with a stunning view, an amazing staff, and delicious food. There’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy and an absolute must to visit.

During our vacation in Cozumel we went three times for dinner to La Monina (after first day we wanted to make sure it was not just a luck to get such delicious food). But IT was not a luck. La Monina is the best restaurant we had a pleasure to dine. Courses are exeptional, fresh and incredibly balanced. Restaurant staff is warm, helpful and also speak English in case you don't know Spanish. Very highly recommend to visit this place!

The best thing about La Monina is the location. There aren't many beach clubs or swimming places in this direction. Unfortunately, they could do a couple of things to make the experience better. Firstly, the service was a bit too slow for our taste. We waited for about 10 minutes to someone to show up and then about 15 minutes for our simple juices (that were average at best). We might be partly at fault though, since we came in from the beach side. In any case, we didn't order anything else since we didn't want to wait. Secondly, they could improve the sunbeds by adding simple sunshades to them. Right now it's a choice between regular chairs with shade or sunbeds without any. All in all I have to give the place four stars because of the great location and a nice place to swim. It's not really a beach but I like swimming, not wading in the sand. Also, there is a nice shallow part for kids to play in.

For our 46th wedding anniversary we chose La Monina so we could enjoy the view while eating. Our food was excellent as was the service and entertainment. They even have special private tables on the sand that can be reserved. We both had shrimp dishes and flan for dessert.

Cozumel is one of our favorite islands and La Monina is a great place to eat and just hang out. We go there multiple times per trip when enjoying the island life! Recently, my husband went fishing while there. Willie, Enrique, and multiple others set up a beautiful sunset dinner for 6 of us and cooked the Mahi that my husband caught. To say the least, it was AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL! Willie, thank you for such attention to detail and making it so fun too! Enrique, your chef skills are unmatched! DELISH! See you soon again! Highly recommend LaMonina! Tip: Ask for a serving of chiltomate. Watch out for that habanero though! Ask for it on the side if spicy isn't your thing.

Nice location and food presentation. They forgot the sweet bread with both of our breakfasts and seemed confused when we asked for it. There was also a mix up with the drinks we ordered. Not the best food we had, but it was pretty good.

What an unexpected treat! Looks like a tourist trap, but not at all! Excellent service and a wonderful menu. Kids went down to the little pier and we sat upstairs and enjoyed the view. Definitely recommend the shrimp poboy and the Molina salad!

Great place for sunset. Wonderful palapa type setting on the water serving up tasty food and good cocktails at reasonable prices. Their music is played at the correct volume and the bartenders turn it down when the mariachis stroll through. This place is perfect for a sunset cocktail or dinner, either alone or with your significant other. On this trip I enjoyed the Tacos Gobernador (with shrimp) and their Traditional (house) Margarita. They were excellent. Dont forget to ask for the chipotle habanero sauce. It is hot but very tasty! They are also pet friendly and Pablito enjoyed the staff, guests and sunset as well!

We loooooove this place. Great food for breakfast (we love the coffee) and lunch, and amazing cocktails too. They have happy hour (2 for 1) from 12 to 5 pm every day! They have really reasonable prices. The restaurant has such pretty views from upstairs but we love the beach area downstairs. Great shallow tide pools for the kids to play and explore. We come here multiple times a week!

Table service salsa was outstanding. Both meals, lobster risotto and mixed fajitas were tasty and great. Sunset view was second to none. Everything about the experience here was top notch!
