If you’re planning a trip to Cozumel, you want to visit the island’s most famous beach. But which of the island’s beaches are closest to downtown Cozumel? I’ll answer that question and more in this guide to the best beach near downtown Cozumel. Playa Casitas is within walking distance of downtown Cozumel, making it the best option for beach lovers. This beach on the east side is almost always uncrowded and offers great snorkeling opportunities. You can also find lots of wonderful restaurants and bars on Playa Casitas, which makes it a popular spot for both tourists and locals. Fish are a perfect addition to the family’s vacation. Swim out 50 yards from the north end of the beach and enjoy the fish-filled artificial reefs for snorkeling and scuba diving. Shore diving in Cozumel can be challenging because of the usual currents that we dive in year around. Diving from Playa las Casitas is no different, but for the adventurous diver, this shallow shore dive offers a fascinating combination of pier rubble, two unheard-of sunken ships, and healthy transplanted coral. Stand-up paddleboards and windsurf boards are also available for rent. It’s very quiet on weekdays, but it’s crowded on Sunday, the traditional day of family outings. You will also find a couple of fun and popular beach clubs (with restaurants and bars) here at Playa las Casitas!

This isn't really what you would expect a beach to look like along the Mexican Caribbean. But there are some interesting structures around

A small but very pretty island where you can find different monuments and learn more about the Mayans history.

Free, fun and safe. Snorkeled and wore my chaco sandals, needed for the rocky entry into the water.

This location is the Shaka on the west side of Cozumel. The fried fish was delicious, the views are great and the music is Irie. Stop by to spend time with them, great prices.

Not the best beach on the island, not even close, but it’s in town, and a short stroll from Hemingways!!!
