An elegant English made old holiday house which dates back in the 1800's. Made for the Royals of that time. Nowadays a great spot to enjoy the view from the city and the breathtaking beaches. I have not visited it inside since it was booked for a special occasion. Although, the whole garden is completely free and available to visit.

(Translated by Google) PALACIO DE MIRAMAR - This English-style royal palace is strategically located encompassing the entire Bahía de la Concha. It was completed in 1893 by the architect José Goicoa Barcaíztegui on the original project of Ralph Selden Wornum. From the middle of the 19th century, Queen Elizabeth II began a close union with the city of San Sebastián, a place she visited to bathe in its waters for medicinal purposes, but it would be Queen María Cristina, wife of Alfonso XII, who would definitively strengthen her ties. When he was widowed, he transferred the summers of the court there, thus sealing the tourist destination of this city. But all this meant having a real country house to stay in, so acquiring several lands, including those of the Monastery of San Sebastián El Antiguo, and that of the church of El Antiguo, which had to be moved, where in time this magnificent summer mansion. In 1929 it was inherited by Alfonso XIII, although in 1931 it would fall into the hands of the Republic and two years later it would be owned by the city council on the condition that the President of the Republic spent his summers there and the rest would be dedicated for cultural purposes. During the dictatorship, reals came back to hand, mainly those of Don Juan de Borbón, who after segregating parts of the plot and selling them in 1972 would sell it definitively to the city council and was renamed the Municipal Palace of Miramar. Having several uses since then as Headquarters of the Hi Music Center, it currently houses the summer courses of the University of the Basque Country.

It’s a nice place with sentimental meaning and a history. But there’s really not so much things to do here and most of the exhibits are in Spanish. So it can be difficult for tourists to appreciate the significance of the site, other than the old photos (which by the way, also lack the year that it was taken). A nice green patch for you to sit down and appreciate the view with the cooling breeze from the sea though.

Yes! Miramars palace was great! So beautiful. Gorgeous view of the ocean. The plants around the palace were beautiful. There is a little park just behind the palace- we went during begin-spring, but it was so nice to walk around and it had such nice vibes. The park was also very nice to just relax a bit.

I love this place so badly. Not only do you get a breathtaking view on San Sebastián bay but the park itself it is beautiful. It is the perfect place to read a book, sunbathe if you are not a big fan of sand or organise a pic nic. This my happy place in San Sebastián.

The palace was built in 1893. It was originally the summer residence of the Spanish Queen. Currently, the palace gardens are open to visitors and the summer courses at the University of the Basque Country are held at the Miramar Palace

This Palace was the summer house for the Queen María Cristina de Hasburgo, where she and her family spent their summer holidays for over 40 years. The house was designed according to english style, Cotagge to be more specific. There's guided tours to the Miramar Palace unless it is busy in any sort of event since it is also a requested spot for several ceremonies.

A beautifully maintained garden and spectacular views of both beaches the Ondaretta beach and Playa de Concha.Nothing much inside the palace. The palace is more than 125 years old.

As stated by the name, you can get a gorgeous view of the bay and the town. The blue of the sea and sky and the contrast with the green of the garden is astonishing.

The vibrant palace is situated in the centre of San Sebastian with amazing panoramic views of the city along la chonca beach. I reckon many locals walk the path along the palace. It is an awesome sight once the lights are turned on and offers beautiful view of the the nearby hill and funicular too.

The royal summer house is surrounded by plenty of municipal green zone where you can have a picnic. The old buildings have info stands with text if you want to read more about of the Palace's history.

The palace looks a bit run down and isn’t open to visitors. The garden seems to be only active in the summer. If you are in non summer seasons, there isn’t a lot to see at the palace. FYI

A must visit in San Sebastian!!! Views are unbeatable!! Just a short walk up a hill will give you the possibility to see all of the city from a priviledged location. Make sure not to miss it!
