The Old Hall is in the CAMRA beer guide for the excellent real ale. It is an exceptional old building oozing character. The beer was great and the service was super. I had a couple of pints of the Brunning & Price house beer: brewed by St Austell I think. It was very busy on a Saturday lunch and we were lucky to get food without a booking. £15 to £20 for a main but high quality. Roaring fire and really smart toilets. Great staff.

Stopped by on the way down from the Lake District, came across this pub as it was an ideal halfway point to our destination. Am so glad we found it! Such a gorgeous old building, our kids had fun exploring the nooks and crannies of this 17th Century building (while mummy ooh’ed and aah’ed over the restroom😂), and the food matched up to the surroundings. Friendly staff, quick service, and sufficient vegan options and a good looking children’s section on the menu. We all really enjoyed it, this one is going on the favourites list!

Lovely lunch today with my family. I had Venison pue, parsnip mash and cabbage. The latte afterwards was delicious. The children's portions were good sizes. Was very busy, but the staff coped well.

Beautiful building, lovely welcoming, friendly and attentive staff and INCREDIBLE FOOD. Faultless. Best Sunday roast I've ever had in a pub or restaurant. Soft, fluffy potatoes which are crunchy and flavourful on the outside, tender meat, perfectly seasoned veg and tremendous Yorkshire pudding! We'll be back - next week!

Highly recommend the Old Hall. Cosy. Super tasty food. My son and his partner suggested this great place, and if we are ever in the area again we will definitely return.

This is a fabulous traditional English pub/restaurant. Service was outstanding and the food was exquisite. Great range of dishes on the menu. 10 out of 10. A must visit if near the area (Dog friendly too).

What a beautiful old pub! Clean bathrooms, lots of parking outside, reasonable prices, very friendly staff and a beautiful atmosphere. They have a great selection of beers on tap, lots of local brews. The menu was quite diverse. Lots of traditional English foods like fish pies, fish and chips. But they also have some dishes like the crispy beef salad, burrata. The fish pie appetizer was out of this world!

So we had a large gathering here to celebrate a recent wedding. It’s a beautiful place and a lovely venue to cater for a big group with lots of different dietary needs. So we sit down, and me and my partner have a small very well behaved dog with us that you can barely notice he is there most of the time. One of the waitresses then spots the dog and in a very unfriendly standoffish manner says we can’t have him in this part of the pub. I was obviously taken aback by the rudeness, there was about 12 of us so obviously going to pay a big bill at the end so you would think they’d have been less rude. They agree he can stay but has to stay off the seats. That is completely fine of course. So we order the vegan roast, comes with a nut roast, butternut squash purée, gravy, hassle back potatoes and greens, made up of cabbage and green beans. The nut roast was huge and really flavourless. The purée looked glossy and lovely but at the expense of it tasting like xanthan gum and not much else. The greens where cold, raw and unseasoned. The potato’s where really bland, not having roast potatoes on a roast makes me sad. The gravy was tasty but needed to order another jug as there was minimal. We where asked if we wanted dessert and then where told there was no vegan option apart from the usual sorbet cop out. Disappointing for a vegan, going off the look of the place and menu descriptions my expectations where not met.

A magnificent five star building ,with gardens, to enjoy your drink or meal on a sunny day. Worth visiting just to walk round it. As a bar I cannnot rate it as we only had coffee. Wine prices by the glass ,frankly, ridiculous. Food menu I cannot judge. We went with friends who go there just to enjoy the building and to pay a premium to do so...£14.50 for 4 coffees. But a truly magnificent building to visit and, if nothing, else have coffee and enjoy the setting. The old part is best. And the loos alone worth the premium paid.

From Seonaid inviting us to our table, and the ambiance of a Grade 1 listed building, the scene was set for the Perfect Sunday lunch....... and it did not fail!! Everything on the plate was Stunning and of top quality! We had both the Lamb and Pork and both were absolutely delicious! They even had Pigs in Blankets!! The service was 1st Class and as you look out over the front gardens, the place has to be experienced. Thank You Old Hall, and WE WILL DEFINATELY BE BACK!!

This is a great pub, staff are friendly and the food is delicious. Great for stopping off for a drink or going for a special meal. At weekend I would book as it gets busy. Dog friendly and they run a monthly dog walk the last weekend of the month led by the staff. A great community asset.

A huge thank you to the staff at the Old Hall who looked after us so well when our car broke down. We remained there for 12 hours waiting for a recovery vehicle. The staff on duty that day were amazing, so kind and caring with offers of support and help. The staff are a real credit to you and you should be immensely proud of them. Thank you to the Old Hall team, you restored my faith in humanity!

Called on the way home from Cornwall to Wilmslow and what a place❤️ Even if you only pop in for a drink a trip to the toilets is like a visit to a country estate 😃 It's a shame they no longer provide B&B as I'd love to stay overnight! We booked online due to Covid as couldn't get an answer by phone. Everything was very well organised for safety and the dog was welcome. I only had a starter of pate as I wasn't very hungry but it was exceptionally delish. My husband had a Thai chicken salad which he absolutely loved. Service was so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They even brought our dog a bowl of water without us asking! I'd love to make a special trip out and come here again. Highly recommend ☺️

Festive menu boxing day. Loved it. Very relaxing and no rush rush rush. Waitresses and bar staff friendly and calm. Some places are so uptight about covid but sensible measures in place here and we felt very comfortable. Thank you all.

It was absolutely amazing the food was fantastic and service brilliant I was taken there by my son and daughter in law for a Mother's day meal I have never been there before but the building itself is beautiful in fact everything about the place was lovely I would highly recommend this establishment and will definitely be going again. When we left and the building was all lit up it looked magical a beautiful Black and white period property. What more can I say

Another wonderful meal at the Old Hall - amazing service as always by the team from the moment you walk through the door. Food was excellent - the onion rings were home made light crispy and delicious.

A really beautiful building inside & out with lovely deçor. The staff were friendly & helpful when told there was a coeliac diner & a lactose intolerant & pork-free diner. There was a ramp to the right hand side for visitors with mobility needs (the main entrance has 3-4 steps).

Gorgeous place with lovely lovely staff, everyone was kind and so helpful. Super welcoming to my very anxious pup too. The fish and chips were outstanding. Especially the chips! The pate was rather bland but everything else was great.

Beautiful place, lovely staff and amazing food. Couldn't fault them on a single thing. Even the parking and toilets are brilliant. We came for a visit two years ago and hoped it would be just as good, if possible it was better!

I can’t believe I keep giving this place another chance when the food is average at best and so overpriced. The only thing the old hall has going for it is that it’s a beautiful building. Today we visited and my friend and I both ordered the goat’s cheese salad. It tasted terrible - the size of a side salad with no dressing and a bitter taste that cost £12. No staff came to the table so my friend had to stand at the bar with her plate to speak to someone. The manager was rude and refused to accept it. Eventually she agreed to swap my friend’s salad for something else. My friend told them I was waiting at the table. When she came over to me I asked for a refund as the rest of my friends had finished. I was told no because she could see I had eaten some. I had barely touched it. She offered me a free drink but I had only ordered water anyway. I wouldn’t have bothered writing a review had I not been so annoyed at how in the least bit bothered the manager was about customer service. The cafes in Sandbach offer a much better quality food than the the Old Hall. I won’t be visiting again as they clearly don’t care about great tasting food or quality customer service.

Food generally was quite good but like most places they seem to be short of staff so service was very slow and it wasn't full. Some portion sizes especially the starters were disappointingly small for the price and prices are pushing up (probably everywhere) presumably due to inflation and to enable staff recruitment so expect to pay around £30 per head with a drink for 3 courses. Not excessive for an evening out but it depends what you're used to and prepared to pay.

Lovely food, friendly staff, reasonable prices. We really lingered over lunch but no pressure from staff to pay and go. Would recommend.

Thank you for a lovely evening. We were originally booked for a table of 5, which changed to 3. Later into the evening, our parents could join us, so we went back to a table of 5. The staff were so accommodating of our change in plans, and the service was on point, given it was a busy night. Thanks again.
