Highly recommend the first mile is a moderately step hike until you hit the lake. If you'd like to continue onwards to waterfall and resuvour is about 3-6 mile occasionally step hike. Highly recommend, it's a gorgeous hike beautiful views and plenty of fresh water.

Awesome nature and views for a hiking. You can see mountains and lakes. Stepping in the water with barefoot is so refreshing. The only downside I think is the starting of the hike that the path is too narrow, each group have to walk in line formation. And if another group is crossing, you or they have to wait to pass. If this can bother you, I recommend picking a day and time with less people hiking there.

Hiking up to this reservoir isn't too bad. If you start at the trail head that's off of Wasatch Blvd, the hike is a little steep but still very doable. There are a bunch of switchbacks and a few shady spots to catch your breath along the way. Depending on what time of year it is, the reservoir can be very different. If it's full, then you'll spot a ton of ducks. I've also been when the reservoir is practically empty, but it's kind of fun to walk across it then. Pretty muddy to walk across, but still fun.

The reservoir is beautiful and clean. Nice wildflowers in the spring, and some ducks and geese. There are two trailheads that access the reservoir: Boulder Trailhead and Granite Trailhead. Boulder is an all incline of “stairs” for about a mile, once you get to the the reservoir the trail is flat all the way to the other side of the reservoir where the mouth of the spillway is (1.6miles to this point-2.37 miles round trip to the parking lot). If you continue past the reservoir you can hike to the Bell Canyon Waterfall. I have not done Granite yet, but it also continues to the waterfall.

Absolutely love this hike. Would recommend to everyone. It's a quick 1.3 miles up to a small, but beautiful reservoir. You hike to one side of the water and can circle all the way around the reservoir. My 5 year old did it just fine. The hardest part is actually the very beginning. Clear natural steps/stairs but they're wide/deep and steep but it's for a brief section. No dogs allowed to protect the watershed. This hike it tucked in the middle of a neighbor. Decent parking area. Go in the mornings or during the week when it's less crowded. Simple, nice hike.

Very pretty. The hike is pretty short for the view you get and you have to go a little further to take a better view of the lake.

Absolutely beautiful spot. Roughly 1 mile hike from the parking lot to the reservoir. Not a lot of work for such a big payoff. I highly recommend this hike. I’m not sure when the last time you brought bread to feed true ducks but that part was so much fun. We brought enough to share with everyone and we all had a blast.

I love this hike. Absolutely beautiful and a nice hill workout. No dogs allowed due to watershed area.

Beautiful hike! The water is highest I've ever seen. I've done this hike many times over the last 5 years and loved it every time. I would, however, like to add that for those who hike to get away from people, this is not the hike for you. The hike itself is incredibly beautiful but has grown a TON over the last 2.5 years in popularity and extremely busy. For some, it may be difficult to enjoy a hike when there are big groups of people or children you are waiting to pass or holding you up. If you are someone who will be easily annoyed by this and still want to try it, go early in the morning or on a week day before 3 pm. Avoid going on a holiday or weekend as it's likely to be crowded.

A perfect hike for any age. It’s honestly insane how close this is to homes in Sandy and it’s a pretty gentle hike to the reservoir too. Walking around the reservoir is delightful. I found beautiful plant life and birds. Just stunning.

This is a great hike! Good for families, not good for inexperienced out-of-staters. It’s not too long, but it’s like walking up 50 flights of stairs with loose gravel and stuff. And it’s at a very high elevation (like 1800 meters above sea level), so you will be breathless unless you’ve acclimated or you run marathons.

Beautiful hike to the lower water fall. Know that it is a lot of climbing over and around large rocks. Took my son and I about 2 1/2 hours to climb up. Definitely worth the climb.

Awesome hike with a beautiful waterfall at the top. The last 1/2 mile is pretty steep, but the rest is relatively flat and easy. I do NOT recommend trying to cross the waterfall at the top even with the rope that is there, my group did and 2 people would have been swept away if not for a well placed tree branch

One of the best hikes I’ve ever done, totally worth the journey to see the waterfall and the adventures through the woods. Steeper and slippery elevation towards the end close to the waterfalls. Highly worth it and I haven’t done a lot of hikes but this one is definitely one of my favorites. There and back is about 5.5-6 miles and it’s not too bad. Clear trail for the most part and 90% of the people passing by usually say hello.. it’s a good vibe. Definitely would hike it again when I visit.

This was a great family hike!! My almost five year old did great and only needed a little help.

Not a easy hike just to the lower water fall, and it took about 4 hours for us to do a round trip. Slope was become so steep halfway, and part of the trail after the bridge was muddy.
