The greatest place in NJ is and will always be Sussex County! Stokes is my favorite part but I genuinely love the whole county and if I donโ€™t leave Jersey one day it will be because I relocated to Sussex!

Fall Foliage Scenery We went there yesterday for a drive through to see Fall Foliage. The views from Sunrise Mountain Rd and Sunrise Mountain Scenic Overlook were gorgeous. You can visit nearby HighPoint State Park for more such views. On the way to Buttermilk Falls across from Stokes State Forest we stopped by Lake Ashroe for similar colorful sight. Second half of October may be a good time to visit it seems.

Probably my favorite NJ park for camping. Quieter and more secluded than HighPoint and full of great trails and various areas that can really show the diversity of New Jersey. If your an RV camper that needs power or running water to โ€œcampโ€. Then I suggest the local KOA. Our family goes 2-3 times a year for the weekend. Close enough to go at a moments notice, far enough to feel secluded. Sunrise mountain road is a great drive for Sunday afternoon. I only gave it 4 stars as the reservation system gets more and more painful as compared to other reservation systems out there. NJ has moved from reserve America but the system is still archaic.

After checking in at the Ranger Station and picking up some firewood, we headed off to find our site (Steammill). They give you directions but it still can be a challenge. Trust the signs. Our stite was clean and to our surprise it had a wooden platform big enough for our tent. The sites are far enough apart to give some privacy. There is a water source by the bridge to recharge your water supply. Overall a great place to chill.

I love this place! So close to NYC. Grew up here, whenever we needed a break from city life this was our second home. Almost the whole neighborhood would come at times. We had big pinics, lake outings and camping. It was magical.

The campsites are well kept but the facilities such as the bathrooms and showers and pretty unclean. Our family has been camping at stokes for about 25 years and the bathrooms/showers have always been an issue. Showers have an outstanding amount of mold on the walls, improper drainage and the bathrooms are filthy and are clearly not cleaned as often as they should be. Also the dry wells built under the water well has stagnant water due to improper drainage.

This state park is beautiful with hiking, water, and camping options. The upper loop of the Shotwell campground is more private, and the โ€œlean tosโ€ arenโ€™t really lean tos more like completely closed cabins. There are trails right from the campground and the bathrooms were clean and everything well maintained. There is fresh potable water on your way in too! We will be back!

Very nice park, the cleared field is perfect for a soccer game. Nothing spectacular or out of this world, but for what it is, it's very nice. People clean up after themselves here as evidenced by a lack of litter. Bathrooms were in good shape.

We went for a week-end camping with the Federation of North-American Explorers. It is one of the Nature treasures that NJ has to offer. The staff is very welcoming, the camping sites are cleaned and well maintained. And, most importantly, the kids loved the trails! Highly recommended for families and groups.

T3 full of rocks and does not reflect website description. Park did not issue refund due to their "policy" even when we informed the site was not in good condition and was technically not rentable for tenters. Campground was full so could not be moved. Never going to an NJ campground again!
