After researching several bike tours, I settled on this one as I wanted one that would take me places other than the big landmarks. This was exactly that! Alex took us to different districts/neighborhoods, explained some of the history and background of some of the lesser known parts of Barcelona. We stopped to look inside a church, saw the ruins of an ancient Roman village, and stopped to grab a bottle of water and a pastry from a cafe in a cute little square. If you’re looking for a tour to show only the most famous tourist spots in Barcelona, this isn’t the tour for you. If you’re looking for something off the beaten path then I highly recommend. It was a lot of fun, a nice little workout, and very interesting!

This was a nice biking tour experience, we took the morning 4hours tour de Barcelona. Our guide Alejandra showed us very cool places and spots in center and we did a nice 15km round trip around Barcelona downtown. Alejandra did help one of our group members who fell down off the bike and called her help to fix her bloody knee. My bike was poor quality, I would reccommend you guys to invest some money in the bikes, my chain fell down and could not get fixed at all - Alejandra was very fast and call back to the renting place to get a new bike which was there within few minutes. The bikes are however a poor quality bikes, with the replaced bike I had problem with my seat which was constenly moving to sides. Also the attitude of the person who was giving me the bike in the morning was shocking to me treating us like some idiots pushing us out of the shop. I also think this bike tour is quite over priced for what it took, but I understand this is individual perspective. We enjoyed our ride thanks to Alejandra I am giving you 5 stars, without her I would give you hardly 3 stars...

Fantastic tour across such a broad range of areas across the city that gives you a much better idea of Barcelona. We covered Gothic quarter, beach, business district, different residential areas, university and a really cool flea market. Our tour guide Paulo was friendly and knowledgeable and we left having seen so much more of the city than we would have done with a typical 'see the sights' tour. 100% recommended.

I enjoyed the tour as they keep the group size to max of 8pax. Got to learn about Barcelona and some of their history/monumental sites/places. We also stopped for lunch at 1 of the 30 "protected heritage bars". As a feedback, I did the tour on 1st May and only received the email on 4th May with the link for the Catalonia guide/recommendations which by the time I already left Barcelona. I would have appreciated it they could have sent it on the same day so at least I could have a chance to go through it while I was still in Barcelona. :(

Amazing experience. Our guide Elisa was absolutely amazing and went out of her way to give us a personalised tour. We covered so much in our four hour tour and Elisa gave us a great overview of the many amazing neighbourhoods Barcelona has to explore. Elisa was also so helpful in giving us such helpful suggestions for where to eat and what to do for the rest of our trip.

Alejandro did a great job showing us around all the sights of Barcelona. Nicely paced on a very hot day and good explanations of sights.

We did the afternoon bike tour on our first day in Barcelona and it was fantastic! We saw so much of the city and really got a feel for the different neighborhoods. Our guide was super knowledgeable and shared not just interesting info about the sites and history, but also gave us fantastic restaurant recommendations. This was such a great value for the price of the tour. Would definitely recommend this tour!

A truly unique trip tailor made for us on the day by our amazing and engaging tour guide who took us through the by ways of Barcelona. We felt like we had seen the real heart of the city and went to places we just wouldn’t have found without steel donkeys. We even had coffee with our guides mum who we bumped into on the way. Fantastic tour.

Fabulous way to orientate with the city and learn more about the lesser known places of interest, the culture and the history. Letizia, our guide was superb. Knows the city like the back of he hand and is very knowledgeable about the history. Able to point out places of interest, talk about them and answer and questions. The bikes are easy to ride and as its mostly flat, suitable for all levels. Ensure you've put suncream on, and take water and a hat (if you aren't wearing a helmet).

This was one of the best tours I took while in Barcelona. Augustine was a great guide. We wound up with a group of just 3 of us and he gave us such a personalized tour. We saw a little bit of everything at such a nice relaxed pace. With some personal time to explore on our own. I would highly recommend Steel Donkey for this experience.

My family and I had an amazing time biking Barcelona with Marianna! She took us off the beaten path and showed us some really interesting sights in the city. Marianna was thoughtful and informative and also provided us with suggestions for dinner and other sites for us to visit. She provided us her contact information in case we had other touring questions during our stay in Barcelona!

I'm so glad we decided to do this tour. Our guide Alisa, truly had a vast knowledge and a love for her city of Barcelona. She fitted us with bikes and helmets and took us to places that you wouldn't see on any tour but the small group bike tour. We enjoyed every minute and she even allowed time to get to know us at a local tapas bar. This is an extensive ride so make sure that you're in shape to pedal. Thanks again to Alisa.

Amazing bike tour with Letizia! She was an excellent tour guide, providing lots of historical information about Barcelona up to modern times. We started in the Gothic quarter then looped around to the waterfront, about 10 miles in total. So much fun, great bikes, awesome guide!

We went on a 4h ride around Barcelona with guide Oscar and a great Canadian couple. It was very interesting to learn about the city through the eyes of a local and we got to see places we never would have found on our own. I recommend doing this on your first day, as you really get a feeling for the different neighborhoods and can use the following days much more efficiently. Also ask for restaurant recommendations. Thank you Oscar for the great ride.

My husband and I participated in a bike tour with Mariana. We have been to Barcelona before and wanted to get a different view of the city. This was perfect. It did not go to the main attractions but into the nooks and crannies of other neighborhoods. Mariana took us to the museum of the Giants, which are huge puppets that people wear and parade around in. We were able to go to one of these local events the next evening and it was spectacular. A real local treat - which we would never have found out about if not for our tour. We cycled down by the beach and had a coffee at a small family owned café. Mariana told us about the culture and climate of Barcelona and made the tour very interesting and enjoyable. It was truly a wonderful bike ride. The terrain is mostly flat, there are plenty of stops, so it is easy for a novice rider, but challenging enough for an experienced one. Highly recommend this tour.

Myself and 3 friends had a great time doing the tour with our guide. You find out some history and interesting places you would otherwise miss. The bike ride isn't difficult so most should be able to manage it. Its pretty flat and the guide will go at a pace suitable for all. Good value for money and a great experience.

We loved our Bike tour with Mariana. She was so friendly and knowledgeable about Barcelona. We did not stop at the normal tourist sites, but saw many other sites of the city we would never have found on our own. We rode through the Gothic Quarters, along the beach, and newer parts of the city. We even stopped at a small museum of the local giants used in processions. The group was small, so it was easy for us all to stay together and hear all the information she was giving us. Her English was very good also, even though she apologized because she thought it wasn't very good. We would highly recommend this bike tour, especially with Mariana.

It was a real pleasure to have Elisa as our guide. She was fun, patient and extremely knowledgeable. She presented information to my boys in a way that kept them interested without overwhelming them. Also, she was so caring as I was still not feeling well and she made sure we went to a pharmacy. I recommend this tour company and you will be lucky if you have Elisa as your guide!

Pros - The day looked like rain, but never generated more than a spitting. So the day ended up great. Barcelona, unlike Madrid, is relatively flat, so the ride was super easy-going. Saw some great sites that I had not seen before on past visits to Barcelona. Cons - Geraldo was our tour guide, while he was very knowledgeable throughout the tour, we had a bit of miscommunication, as did the other family in our group, that our stop at a local pub was going to be over 30 min. Had we known that this was more than "pit-stop", we would have had lunch at this pub, as time was limited for us. Overall, the Steel Donkey was great, and we enjoyed this tour very much - would recommend.

One of the best parts of our trip to Barcelona! We booked the tour for something fun to do with our 4 and 7 year old. It was so much fun! Our guide was awesome and we enjoyed every minute! Highly recommend! Great way to see Barcelona.

We just arrived in Barcelona and wanted to get a feel for the area. This tour was convenient and during a quiet time of the day (Siesta). We had good weather and a great guide named Augustine (also one of our favorite Saints too). He was very helpful and informative! There were 2 children on our tour and he really made sure everyone was safe. We saw a good part of the city and enjoyed the park with the fountain, and he watched the bikes so we could get photos.

My friend and I had the most amazing time with Mariana as our guide going around the city by bike! She was super friendly and really made everyone feel welcome. Would 110% recommend her tour to anyone visiting Barcelona. Thank you!!!

Our Steel Donkey Bike tour was a highlight of our trip to Barcelona. We were able to cover so much of the city on flat safe bike paths and streets. The behind the scenes route gave us a much better feel for the city than just going to the crowded tourist attractions. Great for adults and teens!

We are a family of 5 (ranging in age from 13 to 54) and this tour was a definite hit for all of us. Augustine took us all over Barcelona- from the Gothic center to the beach to various parks and markets and to the Born area which was our favorite. We highly recommend it!!

Mariana did a fantastic job introducing us to the history of Barcelona and taking us through several neighborhoods. Several local recommendations were provided and did not disappoint. Bike tours are a great way to become more familiar with a new city, and the small group size made it easy to converse.

My 13 year old daughter and I just got back from this tour, we had a great time, our guide was really friendly and knowledgeable and adapted to the interests of our small group. It's a fantastic way to discover some of the backstreets and history of Barcelona - and get some insider context to this complex and fascinating place. Highly recommend.
