I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Lowenstein and his staff- I had migraine surgery by Dr. Lowenstein in April of this year and he gave me my life back- I had decompression of my GON, LON, and TONs on both sides and it has changed my world. Dr. Lowenstein pays so much attention to every detail, he obviously cares incredibly about his patients but also their loved ones- he understands how migraine pain can affect you and also your family since he suffers from occipital neuralgia and migraines himself. Over the last 10 years I’ve been to so many doctors and he is clearly different from them all. He gets it. I had been told there was nothing left to try by several doctors and now I have my life back because I had a consultation with Dr. Lowenstein. Initially he spent a lot of time listening and making sure that my family and I understood what was going on and how he could help me. He is not quick to recommend surgery if you are not a candidate, and he will also discuss nerve blocks and Botox with you as an alternative as he did with me. I had undergone multiple failed nerve blocks in the past, but when Dr. Lowenstein mapped out my nerve issues all of his blocks worked immediately. So many of us are unaware that this surgery exists, and so many neurologists and pain doctors are the same way. If you are suffering from migraines or occipital neuralgia I so strongly recommend that you consider a consultation with Dr. Lowenstein. Even if you are not thrilled with the idea of surgery, Dr. Lowenstein can really explain things in a way that so many other doctors just don’t seem to understand. Even though I don’t live near his center and had to travel, I decided to go with the migraine surgery since I had been through so much before meeting Dr. Lowenstein, and I’m so glad I did. I’m able to go out and live my life and look forward to doing things again!

Best doctor ..I feel so great after having surgery. My pain has gone away. Rite now I have some small pains but it’s due to surgery and it’s normal. Before having surgery I had tremendous pain all in my right side of head and eye felt like it was going to come out it had so much pressure. I also had neck pain due to the nerve being compressed. I saw two different doctors in Ventura county and had different treatment and medications that weren’t working and refused to do surgery . I had so much depression and anxiety. I finally had to do some research when I found Dr Adam Lowenstein and decided to see him and diagnosed me with occipital neuralgia and took his time to explain everything. Surgery was the best thing I did and feel great and my anxiety and depression have disappeared.

Friday was my final follow up visit after having had headache surgery and some minor cosmetic work. After needing to take naratriptan on an almost daily basis for years , I have needed it only a handful of times since the procedure - truly life-changing. I am also thrilled with the results of my cosmetic "freshening up." I will miss coming to see Dr. Lowenstein, Ruthie, and Cynthia - they are all wonderful, caring people.

A lifetime of medication or surgery? This was the choice I had to make when I found out about my diagnosis of Occipital Neuralgia (after almost six years of agonizing pain from frequent migraines, daily incessant headaches, and a plethora of medications). I decided to undergo surgery after my initial consultation and preliminary test with Dr. Lowenstein. Dr. Lowenstein listened intently as I described my symptoms and answered my questions when other doctors couldn’t. At this time, I’m almost two months post-surgery, and I couldn’t imagine how life changing this surgery would be for me. I wish I’d known about this surgery, Dr. Lowenstein, and his staff earlier. Thank you so much!

Dr. Lowenstein is amazing. He’s compassionate and the joy radiates when I tell him how well I’m doing after the surgery. Before I met Dr. Lowenstein I had seen over 30 doctors in a multitude of specialties. None of them knew how to address my chronic pain or help me. Dr. Lowrnstein did his targeted nerve blocks and it took all of my pain away. Surgery was a few weeks later. I had decompression I’d the greater occipital nerve and division done on the lesser and third occipital nerves. After surgery I didn’t have the pain anymore and I feel like ME again!! I feel like I have my life back. Thank you!!! 🤗

It's been almost 3 months since my surgery and my life has changed completely. I can enjoy things I couldn't before. I was suffering from sever migraines which were almost everyday for about 15 years. I visited a lot of doctors but none of them was able to help me. No drugs or other therapies worked. I started looking for help on the internet. I read about migraine surgery and so I found Dr. Lowenstein and his center. I was very pleasantly surprised by their approach. Dr. Lowenstein was willing to help me even though I am from Europe, Slovakia. Dr. Lowenstein was very kind and really interested in my problem. He's the best doctor I've ever met, a real professional and a man with a big heart. I felt very comfortable in his center. Even though it was my first surgery, I did not feel any fear. I fully trusted Dr. Lowenstein and his team. My surgery at this center was the best decision I've ever made. Although it's only a short time since my surgery and the hedeaches come here and there, it completely changed my life. I am extremely grateful to Dr. Lowenstein and the whole team, which was amazing. I highly recommend Dr. Lowenstein to anyone who is suffering from severe migraines.

Finding doctor lowenstien was life changing for me. Before finding him I was struggling with crippling migraines every day for 12 years. I went to countless doctors and specialists, I had been poked ,prodded, X rayed and experimented on for years. All the medicine proscribed made me sicker. The only thing that helped sometimes was tripan which I was taking daily. The doctors I was seeing told me there was nothing to do but live with this and keep taking experimental drugs. I was not ok with this answer and went on the internet to find my own answer, that’s when I came across doctor lowenstien, I read his articles and downloaded his podcast. I knew I needed to meet him. He was the first doctor who believed my pain and said he could help me.. I am now 4 months post surgery and I can say I finally have my life back. It was a blessing. Doctor lowenstien is the best of the best and his staff and surgical team is caring and professional. I am finally migraine free with only a handful of headaches.. from the bottom of my heart thank you doctor lowenstien

Although it's only the day after my surgery, it's the first time in over 28 years I haven't had head pain! I am cautiously optimistic that Dr. Lowenstein has given me my life back. I just wish I had known about this life changer years ago. Update: 5 days post surgery and I am walking around enjoying all of the sites (especially shopping) before heading back to British Columbia Canada tomorrow! Things I could never do before. I am beyond happy for this new lease on life. I thank you again Dr. Lowenstein! There aren't enough words or space here to express my gratitude for this life changing opportunity!

I was suffering from horrible headaches on a daily basis. My wife found Dr. Adam Lewinski and I made an appointment to see him late last year. I had several neck and head injuries during my life and Dr. Lewinski described the specialized technique that he had for freeing up the occipital nerves in the back of my neck. Last November, I had the surgery. The surgery went very well and the severity of my headaches are now only 30-40% of what they used to be and the frequency of my headaches are much less. I am extremely pleased with my results and the professionalism shown to me by Dr. Lewinski and his wonderful staff. I recommend him highly.

Dr. Lowenstein got my migraines under control! I highly recommend getting migrane surgery with him. I finally have my life back after 4 years of struggling. I still get migraines, but now my rescue meds work again and I don't get them nearly as ofter as I used to. I am only 4 months out of surgery and still healing, so I'm hoping it will keep improving with more time. It is well worth the cost of the procedure. Lost work time is so much more expensive and for basically the cost of a used car I am productive again!

Amazing facility with amazing staff. I got migraine surgery by Dr. Lowenstein. I am 4 weeks post op and on day 20 of no pain! I went from 3-4 migraines a week at least and had exhausted all other medical avenues. This surgery has saved my life. I am forever grateful to the team. Everyone was so supportive and thorough. Christina is nothing short than amazing. She works so hard, makes sure all is in order and walks with you every step of the way! Thank you for putting up with my millions of questions! -Leah

Dr. Lowenstein and his team at the Migraine Surgery Specialty Center are amazing! My experience under their care was very positive. I highly recommend Dr. Lowenstein. He and his team gave me the highest standards of care. Dr. Lowenstein is very personable, professional, knowledgeable and made me feel at ease. I traveled from out of state for my bilateral occipital nerve decompression surgery. They were able to accommodate to my needs based on my travel plans. Recovery was very smooth. I’ve had amazing results thus far. Dr. Lowenstein followed up to answer any questions and to be sure I was healing comfortably. If you are considering Dr. Lowenstein and migraine surgery, I highly recommend their team! I am so glad I did!
