I am giving this place four stars, tacos had a good taste. The Birria taco was very good if not better than Yona Redz. The pastor taco was OK. Could’ve been a little better. The salsas have great taste and even better with the tacos. The only negative I had was the tacos are pretty pricey vs other tacos in town. Also the tacos are not the traditional taqueria tacos, tacos have different ingredients then usual. The waters are good too, different but good. Kinda of a hipster taqueria. Overall tacos are great and pricey. I will be coming back after payday😅.

I saw this place last week, today I decided to come and try it. They definitely are a high quality taco place, love the music, they bring you a plate with different salsas. That was a very artistic touch the colors of the salsas are very beautiful they are not your typical salsas except for the salsa Verde which was my favorite. The tacos a pretty big so make sure you are hungry. My favorite was the langua follow by alpastor the camera was good too. The chorizo was way too salty and unfortunately not the real Mexican taste the birria was good but too salty. The Agua de Limon con chia is great. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant the is very innovative. Highly recommended it

This place is KILLING it. This is what Santa Barbara needed. Beautiful setup, big open, & clean kitchen, super friendly staff, and truly gourmet yet authentic tacos. Not like tacos from an Americanized taqueria, they’re authentic street tacos that taco lovers want, but with a twist. They’re not big stuffed things, no fluff, just delicious. The lengua is the best I’ve had; so tender and flavorful, but not mushy. Just perfect. Same with the cabeza. And the premium tacos are something else. Costra al Pastor and Quesa Birria are incredible. That’s where the twist begins, because they all come with specifically paired homemade sauces, that are amazing on their own. Well done, Maíz Picante!

Burritos for the burrito week are just ok. The tacos are good. I like the beef tongue a lot, very tender! Not a must try taco place but happy with the food.

Maiz Picante exceeded my expectations. The menu is not super long, items are well described and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. I ordered pastor, steak and carnitas tacos. They were delivered quickly, hot and with 4 tasty salsa options. I can't wait to visit again!

Well look at what we have here! A teeny-tiny lil' spot off of De La Vina - max occupancy 25 peeps, has some mega-dope Margaritas and Micholadas done right. Modest food choices, but isn't simplicity the best way to go? Your choice of Tacos, quesodillas, burritos, and enchiladas. The place has vegan/vegetarian options as well. Honestly, the paint is still wet on how new this joint is, as they must only be like 45 days old. If you're in the area, come pay them a visit. Carmen approved!

Amazing staff, great food. Fresh drinks and fresh salsa. Every dish has been consistent and wonderful. Embraced and supported the gringos and local Mexican families. 👏 👏 🇲🇽 Viva La Mexico. Provecho 💕

Best vegan tacos in Santa Barbara. And I’ve sincerely tried them all. Good flavors, tasty salsas and great margaritas

Went there during the burrito week and we loved it! Top-quality carne al pastor made it the best burrito I've had so far in SB. The food was served fairly quickly. We went there again to try their tacos, and they were good too. Recommend dining in because you gotta try their al pastor as soon as they are served. Another plus is that Handlebar is just around the corner. Though it's easy to find street parking, they do have a parking lot on West Alamar.

Carnitas and pastor burritos were very good. I initially ordered the veggie burrito, not realizing it was nothing other than peppers and onions and cheese. They graciously replaced it with another variant. $11 margaritas are tasty but small and a little on the weak side. Parking is available in the front and the back. We showed up about 1:00 p.m. and service was a little slow but our food was hot and fresh when we got it. Ambience is barebones taqueria but you come here for the food and not much else.

My first visit. The person at the counter was very friendly and she explain the menu. I got a taco, costra with pastor and maracuyá mango water. Food flavor was good the only issue was that the costra was a bit greasy. Salsas are very good and price is fair. Not as busy for lunch time.

Good simple Mexican food, specializing in tacos. Lots of taco styles to choose from, all on corn tortillas. They also have a good selection of burritos and enchiladas. My tacos were good, but came with nothing but meat and tortilla, although they supply a nice plate of various dips and sauces you can add. I had hoped for some greens or tomato, but they were still quite good. There is also a small but adequate selection of bottled beer and wine. I'll be back. Recommended.
