Gorgeous views of the harbor. Food is a little pricier but that is expected with a prime location like this. Chicken fried steak and spicy Italian sausage breakfasts were delicious. Pretty patio seating. Lucky if you can grab a free 90 min parking spot, otherwise $2.50/hour. Be sure to walk along the harbor for amazing views of Santa Barbara!

Enjoyed some appetizers and a glass of wine on the patio. The food was yummy, good service, and the view is wonderful 👌

The service was great. The people working there were really nice and attentive. The food though… I got the fish tacos and they were one of the worst tacos I’ve ever had in my life. I wish that I had taken a photo. It was as if they took all bits and pieces of leftover fish and tossed them with some “spices “ and somehow ended up bland. Then they put this wet, tasteless, cold concoction on top of two corn tortillas to be served with cold rice. I hate leaving “bad” reviews but feel the obligation to warn others of this particular plate. My kids ordered chicken tenders and fries and my spouse a tri tip sandwich. Their report is that it “wasn’t terrible but it was great either”.

This is a favorite of our late parents. We went the morning after my dad’s memorial for one last family breakfast. Our folks ate breakfast out nearly every day for over 60 years. Traditions and memories ❤️

The food and service here are excellent. It's kind of a no frills old fashioned menu with all the old classics and they are all done very well. The club sandwich is really good, the chowder is excellent, they have great pies and ice cream too. It's really nice to sit outside and people watch. Brophy's was full one day and I had never tried Breakwater til a couple weeks ago but now I'm a regular. Great place!

An excellent option that has plenty of tables outside with a view of the harbour. We found the service to be prompt and professional. A good range of classic seaside items to choose from and a decent amount of red and white wines to choose from either by the glass, or by the bottle. I had the classic clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. The clam chowder was hearty and the sourdough bowl had been baked exactly as it should. Very tasty.

Love this great harborside restaurant. Breakfast on the patio is great and the view of the boats is sweet,! I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict for breakfast, they serve breakfast till 2 p.m. on the weekends. For lunch they have a fantastic Louis salad with shrimp and crab. This restaurant is casual, and very family-friendly. They have ice cream in waffle cones to go. If you have a group it's a great place to gather.A easy first start to explore the harbor! There is a large paid parking lot. The Maritime museum is right next door with other restaurants and shops.Continue down the harbor and you walk the breakwater. Went for Mother's day and some of the regular staff have left. Prices have risen but the quality is still good and you can't beat the location.

Great location by the harbor with dependable and courteous service. Solid breakfast and lunch fair. Basically its a diner near the docks. Favorite meal here is a reuben sandwich. Great hours for Santa Barbara. Relaxing patio dining with harbor views.

This is the best location to sit back and enjoy the view! Hands down they have the absolute best clam chowder ever!!!! It's one of the reasons I keep returning here. The fried clams and scallops are very delicious too!

Came for Sunday brunch with my dog and a couple of friends. I had the Denver omelette with home fries and toast, which was very tasty, and my friends seemed to enjoy their food too. It was normal American restaurant fare cooked well. The prices are pretty high for what you get due primarily to the location, but a pretty good place overall. The servers were friendly and responsive and our food came out quickly as ordered. This restaurant is in a nice location!

I've lived in Santa Barbara my whole life, and I'd never been to this place until last night. Service was superb, as was the food. Everything was just right, including the bill. Definitely recommend!!

I see that Lisa (an owner) stated that the fish & chips are not frozen...but Lisa, these are the worst fish & chips I've ever had. They absolutely tasted like they were frozen. The breading was stale, not crunchy, difficult to bite into, and if the taste was any good at all, I could have let that go...but alas, it was not. All I could stomach was 2 of the 3 fish sticks. FYI, my husband had the patty melt and said it was ok. We will not be returning. Also note that you have to pay for parking...no validating.

We had breakfast here yesterday. Food was good as was the service. Sure the prices are higher but food costs are at an all time high. Not sure why people feel the need to bash restaurants for their rising food prices. How would they make any money 🤔

I come here for the clam chowder. I find that the rest of their menu is decent, but it's the clam chowder that's really lights out. Some of the best I've ever had. I also like this location. It's a lovely view of the harbor, and its just a magnificent view. This would be a good place to take an out of town visitor to show them the sights and sounds of SB.

Inexpensive casual dining on the harbor. Indoor or outdoor seating is plentiful. Plenty of close parking. Great ice cream in freshly made waffle cones. Sunday at noon is Very Busy. It is a pretty quiet place during the weekdays.

The server, a lady, was very friendly. That was the only good part. The food -all of our entrees as well as the starter- were clearly store bought. Calamari rings- frozen machine made 100%. Fish 'Tacos' very strange mix of fish pieces in some white sauce over tortillas. Cesar salad with chicken- looked and tasted like some pre made cesar mix you buy at the store, crutons included. Bread- totally frozen section but not the good ones. Now I understand why this place is the only one here that's not busy. I wonder, is there a chef in the kitchen who actually prepares food? Or do they just get a bunch of Costco, heat it up and serve it?

Great place to eat and chill as you watch the boats in the marina sit in its slips and people walking by. Also they have a doggie menu which we thought was awesome!!!!! It’s been open for 82 years. Has a solid reputation for decent food. Staff are extremely pleasant and professional.

Great spot right on the harbor with views of the ocean and the boats parked. We have been coming to Breakwater for years and it never disappoints. The fish and clam chowder are musts here, though we really come for the atmosphere — the views and opportunity to sit outside are the best qualities of Breakwater. The food is secondary.

My strawberries and cream waffle was delicious. Everyone loved their own variety of the Breakwater Special. The staff were all attentive and helpful. The view doesn't hurry. We'll be going again soon.

Atmosphere nice, service (Roger) good, food well let's say the clam chowder we're still looking for the clams but nice flavor and consistency. Fish & Chips, well let's say for the location we expected fresh and not frozen and pre made. Fries, can you say limp and not crisp.

Location, location, location. Overlooking the commercial fishing fleet on the patio is hard to beat. This is an American diner, with diner type food. You won’t find the latest food fad here. You will find some of the best clam chowder in SB. Great salads and burgers. After a day (or two) at sea, it always hits the spot. Speaking of Spot, they even have a fur friendly menu. Admittedly it’s priced a bit higher than one would normally expect. But try and see the activity in our harbor from Denny’s.

The smallest French dip in Santa Barbara, (with soggy fries for $14.45), and maybe in my life! Creamer cup shows how small it was and with very little roast beef. My husband has been coming here his entire life but we will never go back. Horrible tourist rip off. I'm a chef and should have sent it back.
