Great place for hiking. Only a few parking spots, so arrive early. We came here twice. The first time while it was sunny β˜€οΈ. The second time when it was cloudy ☁️. Both times were very different but absolutely beautiful. As you can see in my pictures, while foggy the forest turns into a mystical and wet place. Great atmosphere especially when you are alone and quiet. This is called "horizontal rain" because the trees 🌲🌳 and shrubs are collecting water from the fog and clouds ☁️. While it's is sunny the atmosphere is very different. It feels like a warm jungle but not hot or humid. The whole forest has a nice woody smell. We like both times a lot. So definitely come here for a nice hike. But remember come early like 8-9am or use the bus, which has a stop right there.

We were really unsure whether we could park here but had no problem at all. We started out not knowing where the path would take us going towards Taganana. Once we arrived there we saw another sign showing the loop Route: Casa Forestal -> Taganana -> Afur (The purple circular Taganana - Afur route) So that's what we did and it was great! Not sure whether we got off route on the coast and still found Afur anyways but I suggest downloading the app map.me. It's an offline map, pre-download North Tenerife. It could save you if you tend to wander off track like me. The track is great because you start off in the beautiful untouched forest, go through the small villages and walk along the beautiful coastal mountains. So you get to experience many different terrains in one nice loop. Bring enough water, snacks and a packed lunch. The route took us all day, doesn't hurt to bring a headlamp just in case... We ran into a couple that were lost and couldn't find the track so this is when the offline map comes in handy. Make sure you're following the square yellow and white markers the whole time... in a fork you'll see a yellow and white X to not go that direction and the square in the correct direction. Sometimes it's just to avoid a main road. Even though you are going through villages they are mainly just houses, 1/2 looking deserted. Definitely a great starting point right in the middle of the Anaga National Park. Highly recommended if you didn't get the day permit for the restricted areas of the forest.

We read up on this hike beforehand and got a lot of contradicting information. The full loop is 7+ hours, beautiful scenery but note that there are limited eating options in the town (especially on Sundays). Beautiful hike but was quite a steep route. We went clockwise to Taganana and back which took us around 4 hours.

Stunning trail with lush plant life. BRING A RAIN JACKET. When people say microclimate for this area they are being nice. Almost nonstop rain. Don’t be like me, t-shirts don’t work here.

Beautiful place. We visited it on a rainy day. The air was super fresh. The views are beautiful , waking under the tree that cover the paths and don’t let the sun light go through. A very nice place for a hike if you’ve got enough time. Can get steep at times, which is expected, after all you are in Tenerife.

The trails are beautiful, but you won’t see much if it’s cloudy. The 1 km route was very easy. A rain coat may be useful depending on the weather. We were there in mid October and it was warm enough with just a T-shirt.

A beautiful but challenging walk. The local map legend is not very clear, the map should show average walk times to destinations to enable better planning. Perhaps grade walks on difficulty. OS map perhaps? Also would benefit from a few picnic rest areas for the way back up. Mother nature caters for your toilet needs. Don't rely on your phone signal either.

Amazing place to hike. It is totally different than the south part of the island: the vegetation is more green thanks to the higher amount of precipitation. It is also cooler than the southern regions. Be aware that the area could be fully covered by thick clouds, can be windy and rainy! On the other hand, worth to visit to check how the island is diverse in terms of vegetation and climate.

A very nice hiking area, the nature is stunning, the air is clean and it is not crowded with millions of tourists. Bring a jacket and real hiking shoes it is sloppy,m up there but the nature and views are definitely worth it!

Be careful with your car! They broke into my car at the parking, went to the car rental and the police seems like a thing that happens there often

Demanding hike but greatly rewarding once you enter the beautifully green forest. Enough water is needed to make this approx. 2 hour hike to the top, but forest provides protection from direct sun and very fresh air :) The views are unforgettable!
