I don’t usually write reviews like this, but I felt like I should warn anyone deciding whether to stay here. This motel has a great location (close to the boardwalk) but our experience was overall bad. They let junkies stay in this hotel and we had one screaming throughout our entire stay just downstairs with his door open pacing in and out. Woke up to homeless men digging through trash bins outside our window and had some sketchy people knocking on our door. It seems like a lot of people hangout and do drugs here. The part that really sucked though was that they didn’t clean our room. Our pillows had disgusting stains on them as well as the hand towels. The sheets were definitely not clean either. I felt my skin crawl during the entire stay. Seems like they just reused the previous stays sheets and towels and rearranged them to look new. Overall, the price we paid ($260) was wayyy too much for what we got. Didn’t feel safe or clean. They only gave us a partial refund ($40) for lack of cleaning but should’ve gotten way more back.

Anya, Julio, Sabrina, Mona. What can I say, I love you guys. Not only did you give me the opportunity with a temporary job, you basically saved my life and put up with me for the six months that I stayed here. All in all it was memorable. A little ghetto, but the energy here is definitely noteworthy. Cars are safe in the parking lot. The tourists and locals all have personality and are usually very friendly and open to conversation. The rooms are a decent price for decent quality. This place isn't for everyone. If you get angry easily or expect a 5 star motel you should probably save your time and go elsewhere. If you want to pinch a penny and bring a pooch, then this is your goto. Bring your own towels. You'll thank me later.

My husband and I were so excited to be staying the night at the hotel, but unfortunately the room was not clean. We found bugs on the bed and stains. We also found a bag of some sort of mold food under the all the bed sheets. It looked like the just put sheets on top without actually cleaning them. It sucked but the staff there were really nice and friendly, they apologized and gave us our money back. The staff wasn't the problem it was the rooms, they need better room service.

Having to be away on a business trip, this place was what I needed a clean place to lay my head and relax after long days. I stayed here for a bit - the front desk ended up knowing my name. Very friendly team. Very happy with this motel.

Love this place... had everything I want. They have nice flat screens and a microwave and fridge. Some people might not consider it the best but it is a favorite of mine

My room was clean and did not smell like smoke. It's very close to the center of town. Front desk person was friendly. The only thing I'd say is to being ear plugs if you're a light sleeper because sometimes cars on the road rev their engines but it's not too bad.

Heed the warnings and read the reviews and do not stay here. This place is absolutely disgusting and the service sucks. The ground and walls are sticky, it's NOT clean at all. The towels, bed sheets, pillows, blankets, and shower curtain were all heavily stained and did not look clean at all. I bought a towel and a blanket at target because I refused to use theirs. On top of how low quality and disgusting the place was, they were extremely rude. My husband and I booked the room for us (with one bed, mind you) and they very rudely accused me of having 4 people staying there because my 2 best friends (whom I came to Santa Cruz to visit) came by the motel to pick me up one day and they "saw multiple people at our room". They also went into our room when we were not there which was disturbing because they did not seem very trustworthy. Luckily they were able to refund me because after 1 night I RAN out of there.

This place is not the best but not the worst. Staff was nice and friendly but, the rooms are nice just the bed was not the best the sheets were smelly and dirty and the rooms smelled like smoke and vomit the bathtub was yellow. The good thing about this place they provided us a microwave and a mini fridge and TV! Some people will say this is not enough, but it was not that bad. I do Recommend this place just that they need to do a better job and wash the sheets and bathtub. They provided us shampoo conditioner, so that was nice of them.

The AC is broken. My body is itching during sleep because the bed sheets are dirty, I did not cover myself. The pillow and sheets smells with body odor. Pulled off the sheets before leaving hopefully they will realize that it’s time to change it. The TV is broken. I can hear other room’s scandalous intimate moments (cringey). Bathroom towels are good to use as rags. There’s also a Safety issue, because the room smells mold. Overcharge for $250 which is not worth it. The rooms condition should only cost $50 including tax. On the positive note, there’s free parking.

Don’t do it. You’ll regret it. This place needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt from the ground up. Even with some very low rates the quality of rooms makes it b him complete hospitality robbery with a nasty staff. Spend a few more dollars and go anywhere s else.

The place is old, which isn’t an awful thing but just odd. Our room didn’t have a screen on the window, so it didn’t open. Not a big deal but the cleaning smell was a bit much and would have been nice to air out. The microwave and fridge were nice to have in the room. The shower looked like it was also a tub but wasn’t, not great with a sandy toddler. When the adjacent room used water it was super loud on our side. Bed was decent but pillows were blah. Nothing against the motel but this area is loud, and busy pretty late into the night. The problem is that the single pane windows and thin doors/walls make all of these noises crisp and clear inside the room.

Booked a room last minute after enjoying a Saturday at the boardwalk. The room was clean and spacious. Parking is tight so make sure to park within the lines. The location is extremely convenient for food and a 7-11. The beds don't have headboards so I slept at the foot so that my head wasn't against the wall. Overall, not a bad stay.

It was nice being so close to the beach as well as all of the theaters and museums. Our motel was perfect for our little family vacation. The staff were all very nice, and getting our stay booked was very easy.

The staff was very kind, courteous, and helpful during our stay. Our room was clean and smelled good. I needed some extra pillows, blankets, and towels and things were readily available and delivered with a smile.

Clean, good size room, not noisy in the evening and the front desk was attentive if you needed something. I came in one night and my key wouldn't work my door, they were apologetic and called me to ask if I had any trouble with the new key. Great follow-up.

Excellent hotel. If you want to visit Santa Cruz, the boardwalk, or the restaurants, this is a good location. For a motel, the rooms were adequate. The service is excellent. Staff is friendly and the accommodations are decent and clean. It was a fantastic cheap motel with wonderful proprietors.

Excellent price for being in such a great location. We had a lot of fun while staying at Motel Santa Cruz and really enjoyed being a short walk away from so many different things to do. The motel was very clean and well managed. Would definitely recommend it.

A young housekeeping girl at Motel Santa Cruz provided me with incredibly kind and positive customer service. She made certain there were plenty of towels and extra pillows on our the bed. The room itself was reasonably priced and spacious. Additionally, it was quite clean. I vouch for this place.

I was overwhelmed by the hospitality that Sabrina (manager/owner) showed me. She went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, she was very flexible when it came to extending our stay. Since we checked in we felt like family. I highly recommend Motel Santa Cruz and I will be back soon. We need more businesses like this in the community!

The staff was friendly and hospitable. The accommodations were really clean and I feel like we had a wonderful deal. I used this Motel Santa Cruz for the first time because my normal place to stay for these family getaways during the COVID crisis.

These people here at Motel Santa Cruz went above and beyond to ensure that we had a wonderful stay. I assured her that we would return as a result. Surprisingly, our rooms were more comfortable than we anticipated. We have since visited Motel Santa Cruz twice, and each visit was as pleasant.

These days, saving money is more important than ever. I’m moving from another state, but my apartment wasn’t ready yet. I stayed here for just under a week. During that time, I was well taken care of. My room was cleaned daily and the whole staff was very inviting. It really helped during a pretty hectic time.
