I was assured this was the best Mexican in town and it did not disappoint. It doesn’t look attractive (but I had take out) but tasted nice. It’s certainly a popular place, there were multiple groups queuing and the car park was very busy. I was offered a bar seat at 45m wait but couldn’t wait so got take out. Saw lots of people drinking delicious looking margaritas whilst they waited.

Not worth the wait, unfortunately. Waited for an hour and a half for a table of 4… Along with everyone else. just to find out there’s not a waiting list for outside. Luckily you can order from the bar while you wait. Thier drinks are delicious and fast. Their menu has a great selection but their food lacked flavor. Our whole table seemed to agree. The wait creates a higher expectation. We felt like their food was just as good as the less busy restaurants.

First of all, Poppy is such a great person. She kept the vibe going and was full of life. She absolutely allowed me to feel at home while entertaining my buddy from Philly. I know that she will hold a memory for my reunion. Thank you Poppy! Now let’s talk about food! My other friend ordered the combination plate like a true New Mexican wanting to have a little of everything. He had the tostada, carne adovada, and chicken flauta. My buddy from Philly, had the carne adovada plate. He asked for a recommendation from the GM Kenji, who happens to be my home-slice. I had the blue corn soft tacos with a side of salsa. I had the option of red, green chil or house salsa. I always opt for the latter. We did get the sopapillas and Choza garlic bread! Yes, it is a thing! I hope you liked my review and information. This is the spot where US LOCALS go. Don’t get me started on their drink menu. ❤️

Great place in Santa Fe to eat. Santa Fe is filled with all sorts of places to eat New Mexican food. La Choza is certainly one of the better ones. We went there for lunch. We arrived about 15 minutes early before they opened and the was already a huge line. I ordered the Fish Tacos. They were not the typical fried fish. The fish was grilled with a a tasty sauce on blue tortillas. Very good! The rest if my party had enchiladas. Check them out! They also have great outdoor seating.

Wow, this place was outstanding! I was dining alone so I sat at the bar. They have a long list of margarita selections, and they make them constantly. Bartenders told me they used to make 2,000 drinks a night before COVID, slightly less than 1,000 now. They were fun to watch, and their concoctions were wonderful to drink. I had a classic (Elite Silver) and a house specialty (Sangre de Christo). The food was just as good if not better. I had green chile clam chowder and the enchilada plate with chicken. The sopapilla to finish was a nice touch. Service was outstanding. Atmosphere at the bar was fun. I highly recommend this place.

gotta say the food was pretty good ,but I'm not sure it's worth the 1.5 hour wait we did.... place is really pretty on the inside, service and food came out fast. it felt similar to food options near by like parasol or Chula parking is available upfront but they charge their nachos had a really generous portion of chicken

Excellent margaritas. Food was beautifully presented and flavorful. If you want spicy you can get it here. The Xmas sauce has the flavor and the kick. Service was pleasant and excellent. Patio areas are beautiful. Decor is authentic to the area. No reservations, but pleasant patio waiting as well as drinks to enjoy while you wait.

Very enjoyable restaurant! Had the blue tacos, one pork and one chicken, and they were great! The only whiskey cocktail, the Summer Sour, was also very good indeed! Checked in and they said 45min-1hr and our table was ready within 30 min on a rainy day. Will be back when I visit Santa Fe again!

This place is awesome! Local here and have been to La Choza many times. Never disappoints. Chile is flavorful and delicious and margaritas are strong. Wait times can be a bit long but the food is definitely worth it! Try the combination plate if you want a bit of everything that the menu has to offer. The St Margarita and the Sanger De Cristo are great house cocktails as well. Check it out! This place is awesome and I would definitely recommend it to all of my friends and family. 10/10

This was my second time eating here, after coming with family 7 years ago. I passed through Sante Fe once again, and La Choza was even better than I remembered! No wonder there’s a long wait for a table. The menu is very accommodating to a vegetarian diet, and the drinks are strong! Service was very professional and excellent. An overall amazing experience you only get from a restaurant once in a blue moon.

La Choza. Expect a wait. Worth the wait. The Christmas Sauces in f red and green were amazing. Then a big bowl sopapillas with honey were little bags of hot bread-like goodness. Wife really enjoyed the Prickly Pear Margarita Everything was so good.

It may sound gimmicky but the green chile clam chowder was one of the best chowders I've ever had. The French bread, though good and garlicky, was a strange pairing. Both my husband and I had the enchiladas and they were excellent: spicy and flavorful. Prices were reasonable and portions were generous. Just an all around fantastic restaurant.

Absolutely dog friendly. The patio had a warm ambiance but it could be too small for multiple guests with dogs. The food was fine but the green chile clam chowder was different and wonderfully tasteful. The service was good.

You absolutely must show up early. When we arrived for dinner there was a 2-hour wait. Fantastic atmosphere and conscientious bartenders. Very good adult beverages.

The pork posole soup is the absolute best soup I've ever eaten in my life. Great flavors! La Choza really blows it out of the park with this menu item. The blue corn tacos with ground beef and blue corn burritos are really good. This was my first week to come here and I can guarantee I'll be back every time I come to Santa Fe!! My server was Daniel and he was phenomenal 😀. Go early… This place gets packed and it's first come... first serve.

The food was perfect Spicy and flavor. So many gluten free options that I was in Heaven. Atmosphere on the outside sitting area was adorable. Staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and educational on the menu. Several vegetarian options if a dish has pork. Highly recommend! I had the enchiladas. Delicious!!

THEY DON’T COOK WITH ONIONS AND IT’S AMAZING! I’m allergic to onions and LOVE NM food. I was able to eat everything on the menu ( I didn’t, even though I wanted to!) it was so delicious. Our server, Laura, was wonderful! The drinks were good! This is me favorite spot in Santa Fe!!

We chose to eat here because of the reviews.....this is what we experienced... The parking gets full, the restaurant inside is very nice, great atmosphere, and the drinks looked delicious! Staff was very friendly. We were excited to get our food, and when it was brought out to us, we were like🥴...disappointed at the presentation. It did not look appealing, and after tasting, the chicken lacked flavor, no cheese or cilantro, beans, and posole looked poorly and salsa looked like ketchup...we were anxious to try the sopapillas and were also disappointed, they were not what we expected.

It is a must see place. We had to make a reservation earlier in the day for a PM reservation, but it was worth it. NM style Mexican food is really nice with the added sauces and green chilis. My children and I enjoyed walking around and looking at all the art, too. It has so much history and then as you leave there is a cute train to take a photo near.

Stopped in on July 17th on a family road trip from Houston. Wife saw it had good reviews sonwe decided to give it a try. Excellent decision! Wife and daughter split the Blue corn tortilla burrito, a ground beef soft taco and the shredded chicken adobo and it was delicious! Son had a grilled cheese (he a was burned out on Mexican food so we let it slide), I had a ground beef burrito with beans and cheese and pozole on the side. The pozole was excellent. Had a great spiciness to it that was subtle but delicious. Kids loved the raspberry tea, wife had a margarita. Service was a little slow but very friendly. Prices were reasonable. If you're in the area give them a try, you won't regret it!

Food & drinks are excellent. We dined in but they have about 5 parking spots for takeout, you park, call & they bring your order out.

The two stars are for the cleanliness and friendliness of staff. The food was garbage: stale chips, stale garlic bread hard as a rock, pork carne tastes like it came out of a can, husband's Xmas chili tasted like Hormel, and my sangria was literally just red wine with ice and an orange slice. Also, our waiter talked to us like children the entire time like we didn't know what chili or an enchilada were?? This was disappointing because this place came highly, highly recommended. Definitely a tourist trap.

Only giving 4 stars because the staff wasn't too pleasant especially the bartenders and one of the waitresses( she was nice but she kept forgetting about us). The food was very delicious, we ordered the enchiladas. If you order and they ask red/green or Xmas choose Xmas to get both the green and red sauce. Wait times vary from 25 min to an hour to be seated. Entree comes with two types of bread the Cinnamon which you put honey on and the garlic one. All the food is spicy so if you cannot handle spice I do not recommend this restaurant. We got some mocktails they were pretty good ranging $5-10. Food varying $12-30. Food itself was very delicious and I recommend that you order a n extra side of sour cream.

Food was really good. I went to The Shed the sister restaurant the day before and the food was pretty equal downtown at The Shed the atmosphere was a little stuffy at the Shed and a little busier but they were both very busy, hour and a half to 2 1/2 hour wait. And I was by myself so both nights I sat at the bar and I snuck in way earlier than those times. I wish the food was a little hotter/spicier. I am from Minnesota, but it was not very spicy for me. But great spot to grab a beer and wait. And everyone in town talks about them having the best margaritas but I don’t drink margaritas I drink beer.

Mexican food, very delicious. We had 45 minutes wait. Someone who left after eating, told us it was worth the wait. It was. Our waiter was very helpful. We were a party of 4. I enjoyed blue corn bean burrito, tamale, chicken stewed in red sauce, accompanied with posole, and pinto beans. I enjoyed a mock tail made with tamarin, lime, and ginger beer. My sisters enjoyed their meal, also.

Sits at the end of the rail yard area, so good cap to that if wandering about. Really friendly and attentive staff. Interior is a nice mix of art and “Santa Fe” colors and materials. Didn’t look like this place was in need of encouraging more people to go, but probably one of the better restaurants to visit while here for a short time.

Excellent dinner!!! I had an awesome Burrito Grande, and my daughter had the blue corn stacked cheese/onion Enchilada Plate. It was her favorite meal on our whole Santa Fe trip! The blue & yellow chips and salsa and guacamole were also delicious, as were the sopapillas. Will definitely return for another wonderful meal next time I’m in your fine city.

Descent New Mexican restaurant. No reservations or call ahead seating so you will almost have to wait. However, your wait will be worthwhile. I enjoyed a tasty margarita and chips and salsa while we waited for our food. Chips and salsa are not completely, as is standard at most New Mexican joints but the salsa is really good. 👍🏽 We had a kids bean burrito plate, a beef and bean burrito and a combination plate with carne adovada, posole and Chile rellenos. The carne adovada was excellent! The rellenos on the other hand, we’re not good. The Chile seemed as if it was not properly roasted. Still had the crunch and consistency of a raw Chile. It really threw off the dish. I also ordered it christmas but received it only with red. The serving of the plate was huge though and plenty of leftovers will be taken home for another meal. The burritos plates were great and enjoyed. The meal included 3 sopapillas. We also had to return a glass after we had already been drinking from it because we noticed it was still dirty with food. Pretty gross. Overall, a descent spot for New Mexican cuisine but this spot is best left for the tourists. Better places with less of a wait are abundant in Santa Fe.

A very traditional sit down Mexican restaurant! Enjoy the diversity of the plates and the availability of different mocktails! As someone that drives I sometimes like a crafted non alcoholic drink! The carne adobada is absolutely well balanced between spice and season! I recommend if you want a nice enjoyable meal!

Margs were good and the house was reasonably priced! All of the food was delicious as well. I ordered the soft shell tacos plate, and was happy with it. Also really liked the sopapillas.

A very good option especially for gluten free Mexican. Ultimately the blue corn tortilla burrito wasn’t exactly much of a burrito, more of a nacho type situation but still tasty. I had to try the green Chile clam chowder and it was pretty tasty. The garlic bread was solid and the guacamole was also excellent.

I had one of the best lunches I've had in a long time! I had the enchiladas with chicken, red sauce and fresh sopapillas and it was outstanding. Sat at the bar and got great service! The salsa with the chips was fresh and had just enough kick! There was a wait yet was totally worth it. Definitely recommend if you're in Santa Fe!

Good tamales and green chili. Fresh, tasty, felt full after meal but not sick which can happen sometimes with this genre of food for me. Service and ambience were nice as well. They have both inside and outside seating and a full bar. Parking lot was full but street parking was no problem; Im not sure what the folks are upset about with the street parking… Its not like a downtown situation or anything. Would return.

I've been eating here for lunch and have been ordering the blue corn enchilada with extra side of sour cream. I get the red chili and love their consistency and how very good the flavor always is. I used to order the fish tacos but this dish was typically inconsistent for me. La choza staff is always very good even when they are busy. There is outdoor patio seating as well as covered outside seating and inside seating. Nicely spaced tables and not crowded together. This is in my opinion one of Santa Fe's best places for red chili and a great place for a meal. Highly recommended!

We decided to come here after hearing so much about it from the local. The parking lot was packed. We drove around it several time, and gave up trying to park at the restaurent, and drove to a nearby hotel to park there. It was not a comfortable walk, since it was chilly outside. The restaurant was packed, and we had to wait 1.5 hours for our table of four. The food was pretty good, and made you almost forget about the long journey to getting to it. Aside from the horrendous wait-time and parking, I have no other major negative experience. We had to try the place out at least once after hearing so much about it. If I had three hours to kill, I would come back.
