I enjoyed my 60th birthday at The Compound this evening. First of all, the wine sommelier pointed me to a wonderful bottle of French Burgundy and a glass of Reising for my son. She was excellent. My son had their oysters and said they were the freshest he had ever tasted. I had the tenderloin and my son had the sea scallops and both entrees were a amazing. Since it was my birthday, our server suggested the Lemon cake for dessert with all kinds of great sauces. I brought it home and at this writing it has already been consumed!! lol. Excellent meal and excellent service. A local’s dream!! Well enjoyed!

This was our 5th time to dine here, I think the past times set the bar very high. We were very disappointed with our experience there tonight. We had a subpar waiter, who spent more time in a storage closet than tending tables. We shared a lettuce salad, but it looked like it had come out of a bag. I had more wilted leaves than fresh. My entree was very good, I had the chicken breast. It was prepared perfectly, very tasty. My husband ordered the Cod and at first bite he knew something was off. I tried a bite as well and knew the same. Our waiter had only asked how things were immediately after the plates arrived. He did not reappear or take notice that we had ended up sharing the chicken. When he did finally emerge from the storage closet again (picture if the closet included, it was in my line of site), he realized the Cod hadn't been touched. We explained it was "off", we didn't want them to think we were trying to not pay, so we did offer to pay and he left things up in the air. When he returned, he did say, "They made me take the fish off", not a professional reply to an issue. A visit from a GM would have been nice. We skipped dessert and left. We had dined in under an hour. We are so disappointed, and won't put The Compound on our list going forward. Also, just a side note, the silverware was tarnished and mismatched. Details matter, if you arent taking care of the details, there is more being overlooked. I know its hard to find good help, however, you must train your people, and our waiter could have used that as well as some supervision. Historically, we've spent a lot of time and money here and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also felt sorry for the young lady assisting the waiter, she was very sweet and trying her best.

Phenomenal dining experience. Well executed service with a thoughtful waitstaff. The food was superb. Temperature of the steak was on point, meat was tender. The flavor in the corn soup was out of this world. Completely understand why the Compound is consistently ranked among Santa Fe’s top fine dining restaurants. Would highly recommend.

Went there for Thanksgiving. Top rated chef, fixed price menu for that day. The presentation was awful. The turkey was an afterthought on the plate. Small end pieces of white and dark meat. Inedible I only ate the mashed potatoes and vegetable. I always take pictures of the food but it looked to awful to post. The actual restaurant was pretty. They sat us by the serving station just inside the door. I didn't make the reservation or I would have had them move us.

We came for lunch around 1:25 pm on a weekday with no reservation. We were seated in the bar. Manny was our bartender. He was very attentive and was an excellent server. Had the chicken schnitzel and hubby had the burger with the apple galette for dessert. Margaritas were good, food was good, company was good.

It’s been six years since we have been here. And we are so grateful that they are now open for lunch again. We were visiting from the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Took the Rio Metro train up to have lunch and enjoy one of my favourite places to get mushroom polenta. One of our all-time favourite restaurants in Santa Fe. We highly recommend.

Food was far inferior to what I would expect at this price. The tuna tartare was so citrusy as to have no other flavor at all. The chicken breast entree was tender to the point of being mushy and unappetizing, having no "bite" to it. The greens and mushrooms served on the side were very bland. We came on a Friday night and it was very busy; our food took a while to arrive. The waiter was polite and professional, as was the GM.

I love to cook. When we dine-out, our expectations are always high. And so our experience @compound restaurant, ws good but not outstanding ~ I have to admit for the price point of this restaurant along with the reviews one would assume the experience would've been better. While the food presentations were spot on, there was a definite lack of seasoning on my dish which was the JumboShrimp. Other criticism is that both our meals were served only slightly warm, friendly service but slow. I think if we had made earlier reservations we would have enjoyed a better experience.

Ample parking in back, stairs to the right of building. Elegant atmosphere. Starters were a very enjoyable peach gazpacho with tomato and goat cheese creme fraiche, and the tuna tartare was also good. Entrées were the roasted chicken with cherries, celery and grapes in a lovely sauce - super tender. The 3 large scallops were perfectly seared with tomatoes and other veggies. There was just enough room for dessert. Had the chocolate opera cake and lemon buttermilk cake. Perfect portions. Great service!

The compound is so good. James beard award winning for chicken schnitzel. We first went here for restaurant week a few years ago and they had their best meals from over the 25 years. Such a wonderful experience. The chicken schnitzel is only available for lunch but everything else is really good too. The bar is happening but you need to get their a little earlier than you would normally go somewhere to grab a drink. They have a sommelier which really brings the entire experience together well.

Stopped by and were seated at the lovely small bar for lunch. Bartender/wait staff Dan was top notch, filling us in on the ingredients in the menu choices and suggesting the wine to go with our orders. Exquisite food and service. Met some locals at the bar who remarked it’s a favorite place because it is so intimate and always delicious.

We made reservations for dinner before heading to the Opera, and what a treat! Not only is the patio lovely, but the service was impecable - the servers moved some umbrellas several times during our meal to make sure we wouldn’t be bothered by the sun. We were a party of 6 including a child and a teenager, and they accommodated to everyone and made an effort for one of the meals to be dairy-free and another without gluten. Furthermore, everything ordered was fresh and delicious, I started with the scallops which were yummy and then had the duck breast and couldn’t have been more pleased. Dessert was also a treat. The server was so attentive that he suggested we should head out at a certain time because there tends to be traffic to enter the Santa Fe Opera; so again the service was above and beyond. This was a truly special evening and we couldn’t have been more pleased, and would love to return when we visit Santa Fe again.

The Compound has some of the most meticulously prepared food in Santa Fe. The service is always gracious and unpretentious. The setting is serene.

This restaurant has been on my list for one I had wanted to go to for so long. I was looking forward to 5 star food, atmosphere and service. I really hate that it was so very far from anything I hoped for.For this understand that we were there on Saturday at 5PM we were one of the first to be sat and it was not busy. Here are my Pro's: The starters were excellent and really had set an expectation for the rest of the meal. We had the Tuna Tar Tar and the Maine Lobster and Bay Scallop. The Sauces were so flavorful I really was impressed. So much for the positives now on to the Negatives. We were sat near the stairs and this is where the staff would congregate to gossip and it was distracting. The amount of flies were astounding. I think this was due to the doors being open to the patio. But I spent more time protecting my food than eating it. When we received our main course I was already frustrated with staff and the flies. For our Main we had the Duck and the Rack of Lamb. The Duck was well cooked, tender and juicy, but was inconsistently seasoned. One bite would be bland and the next was overly seasoned. The rice was bland and the cherry compote was okay. The lamb was a good cut of lamb, but under seasoned and bland. My son said it was the most bland lamb he had ever had and would not expect that at a 5 star restaurant. Before we could finish our mean the flies had gotten so bad that my son killed one with his napkin and little maggots started crawling out. We had to flag the waiter over so that he could remove the insects. That ended our meal even though prior to arrival we intended on having desert. We did take it to go, but once we were home the idea of eating it repealed us and we threw it out. This was a meal over $200 for two people not counting the tip. No desert and only sparkling water. In my mind the food started good but ended bland and the atmosphere was below that of a diner but just above a truck stop.

Absolutely superb restaurant! A great place for a leisurely lunch with a great bottle of rosé wine.

Three stars for the level of the restaurant. If it was an average Joe place would have been higher rating. The staff: Was very welcoming. The sommelier, Kristina, is excellent, knowledgeable, understanding and full of good surprises when it come to picking wine that fits your profile and budget. (Five stars). The waiter didn’t take any time presenting, complementing and describing the dishes, they were just placed in front of you with “enjoy”. However, no rush or pressure. The ambiance: excellent, intimate place, not too loud, very comforting. I would not recommend though sitting in one of the triangle table for two. Even though sitting side by side of very pleasant and intimate, the bench sitting is not very comfortable. The food: The starters, wagyu beef carpaccio and pear and bacon tart, where just mediocre. The carpaccio - the meat was superb, the white sauce splurged on top brought no enhancement to the dish, really did nothing for the wagyu flavour to come out. The tart, turned out to be puff pastry, not a tart, the pair was just raw slices on top (not caramelised or even slightly cooked/poached) with bunch of arugula on top (???)….contrasting completely the expectations of warmth and depth of pear and bacon in my mind. Mains were saving the meal, especially osobuco - full of flavour with well balanced mash, sauce and greens. The duck, was cooked to perfection, nicely balanced plate missing just a bit of a kicks I can’t put my finger on it, if it was lack of seasoning on the duck itself or not enough sharpness coming from the sauce. The desserts - one out of two, beautiful apple bread pudding with caramel cream; opera cake not 100% fan as was missing the crunchy element and the chocolate stick was not the best chocolate kind, pretty bland. Overall we had a good night, but I wouldn’t place the Compound on my return list immediately.

A staple on Canyon Road that’s been around for decades. Their bar is a great cozy spot for drinks and a more casual menu. I was able to dine outside recently. The wine list is excellent and the food was good, not excellent. The fall beet salad was wonderful, but my pork dish was over cooked and uninspired. The service while consistent and good, is not exceptional like Geronimo up the street. The prices are still very steep; so this restaurant is solid, but not fabulous.

Excellent food and service. The oysters on the half shell were great, the freshest I've had in New Mexico. The fresh squeezed lime Mezcal cocktail was the perfect accompaniment. Wine selection was also unequaled to anything I've seen since moving from the west coast. Scallops and grits and the pork tenderloin were excellent as was the apple caramel cheesecake dessert. Will be savoring this meal for a long time to come.

Higher end restaurant in Santa Fe. Food and service very good in a very nice atmosphere. Restaurant is not cheap, but the food is up to par with the prices. Located on Canyon Road, where there is essentially, no parking, it is nice that this place has its own parking lot, with ample space to leave your vehicle.

Where to start??? Table by the entrance to the kitchen. Waiter who was more pleased with himself than caring for us. Employees seamed up tight, tense rather than loose and happy. Now, I love garlic however, this would ward off a vampire, taste before serving... There is more though you get the point. There are many fine resturants in Santa Fe for this expense offering a superior value.

Justifiably famous. The charming interior designed by Alexander Girard (the angled booth seating is unique and comfortable), the charming staff... And the superb food! Came here for lunch. First comes the fresh bread and butter--yum! Next, the onion ring tower (lightly battered, almost like tempura). I had the house-made pastrami sandwich--toothsome, tender, with Beer-Braised Sweet Onions Horseradish-Mustard Mayonnaise, house made chips and coke slaw. My friend had the wedge salad with Bleu cheese and bacon. Dessert was heavenly Molton chocolate cake with blood orange sorbet. The staff is so nice, they don't rush you. This is a very special place for a memorable meal! TIP: Reservations are a must but easily done online through Google or OpenTable

From the room, to the service, to the food and drinks, this restaurant is a showstopper. We ordered 3 appetizers, 3 mains, 2 sides, and 2 desserts. Everything was top notch, and the portions are not tiny by any means. I am glad we could walk back to our Airbnb and burn a few of those calories. The chef and sommelier came to the table and told good care of us. Just a perfect meal.

This was hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The quality and freshness of the food was phenomenal. I’m pretty sure I said “wow” aloud after every bite. I ordered the Organic Breast of Chicken, Grilled Apricot Garzpacho and the California Cherry Tart. Worth every penny! Kuddos to the entire staff at The Compound. If you’re coming here for dinner I’d buffer at least 2 hours to soak in the entire experience. Can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in Santa Fe!

Got a last minute lunch reservation on a quick trip to Santa Fe (they were all booked for dinner many days out) and it did not disappoint. The lobster salad was very good as was the salmon my husband had. Highlight of the meal was definitely peppermint/candy cane ice-cream sandwich. I could have had that alone, over and over again! Service was very good, but not exceptional. Though I guess that’s ok considering it isn’t a Michelin starred restaurant. Will try again for dinner sometime and see how it differs.
