We were in town from Utah and looking for a unique restaurant to eat at. So happy we found Cowgirl! From the service to the food everything was top notch! I'll start by saying that we've been on the hunt for the best BBQ joint everywhere we travel to. We had been recently disappointed with Utah BBQ so we were excited to give Santa Fes a try! The ribs are fall off the bones good! There is a perfect sauce per bite ratio and honestly everything tasted delicious! I had the vegan burger while my husband had the ribs (as you can see from his excitement in one of the photos that he finally got to try a good quality BBQ). Add the live band entertainment and it made if for the best atmosphere! We will recommend Cowgirl to anyone that's going to visit Santa Fe from now on. 10/10

I was able to make it to happy hour and so glad I did. The food was great and I love seeing all the pictures and stories of amazing women. I didn't have a drink but they have a long list including non alcoholic beverages.

Great vibes as they had live music on the patio the Sunday we came through. As for the food. The regular fries were some of the starchiest ones I’ve had. Sweet Potato fries were a different story as they were delicious. The Vegan burger option was ok. As for the BBQ sampler, everything was dry except for the brisket. The sauce was delicious but I didn’t even make it through the chicken.

Visited this place for dinner during a long weekend in Santa Fe. We wanted an easy going environment with good food and found Cowgirl! Easy walk from downtown. Maybe 5-10 min depending on where you’re staying. They have a happy hour from 3pm-6pm Mon-Fri and welcome dogs on the patio. We’ll drinks, wine, beer and a variety of food. Great choices! The place filled up very quickly, which is usually a good sign. The staff was excellent. Attentive, energetic and very polite! We ordered three dishes to share and all were really tasty with some spice but nothing too much. We had the Jerk Chicken Wings - Tossed in our righteous Jamaican Jerk sauce, served with more jerk sauce on side; chuckwagon chili frito style (I am officially obsessed with Frito style anything at this point) - ground beef & brisket chili with beans and veggies, jalapeños, red onions, sour cream, cheddar cheese and jalapeño cornbread; and pork chops with mash and greens. Really everything was excellent! We came back on Saturday evening as we didn’t feel like looking for a new place and the food and drinks here were excellent! This time we had chips and guacamole (real, made of actual avocados - delicious), fish and chips and tried the hot wings (sauce on the side and thankfully so, as this sauce is hot!) To our surprise they had a band playing live music, which created that much more of a fun experience. It looks like this place attracts locals also, with tends to be a great sign. So, if you are looking for a fun, non-pretentious place, check cowgirl out!

Our server was friendly, but the food was subpar. We ended up leaving basically our entire meals uneaten (went to Chick-fil-A afterwards). We didn't order "bbq" but the following items left a lot to be desired: Cabeza de Ajo- garlic had no flavor and crostini was very thick cut and rock hard extremely difficult to eat Buffalo wings- they came out kind of mushy, not hot and crispy like youd expect. Served with an extremely runny ranch that had a waterlike consistency Chick-a-licious Mac 'n Cheese - **I did get the green chilie on the side** the cheese was already congealed /separating when it was brought to the table. Completely flavorless, chicken on top was meh, didn't feel worth eating. Basket of fries- I guess these are double fried fries? Unsure. They just taste oily and also not worth eating. I did get a side of jerk sauce just to try and that was very tasty.

Great time at the Cowgirl Cafe was had by all. Unbelievable beer selection, awesome margaritas and excellent happy hour prices. The guacamole severing was as large as I have had and the squash casserole was superb. Great music and fun atmosphere was just icing on the cake.

Wow. Great ambiance and even better food. Musician is setting up to play and I’m sorry we can’t stay longer…not that I could eat another bite lol. My husband and I split the sampler platter with brisket, ribs and smoked chicken and got the chili. Oh, and the sweet potato fries for our app…you gotta get those!

Possibly some of the best BBQ outside Texas. A great variety on menu, friendly (customer focused) service, and nice atmosphere. This place gets busy, so larger groups may want to reserve a table ahead of time.

We had an amazing time having dinner while enjoying the live band. Well worth the wait to be seated.(40 minutes on Saturday night.) Ot was exceptionally busy and our host made sure we didn't feel ignored. It was my mother's birthday and the band sang her happy birthday. A truly great evening that we will all talk about for some time to come.

My first stop in Santa Fe and the margarita trail! The place was packed and we had to wait but for me it was worth it. The menu also tells you if things are gluten-free or not! So many choices!! I got the nachos and they were delicious. Melted cheese everywhere and I added brisket to them. So good the way nachos are suppose to be every time! The margarita was spicy and strong. It was a great way to start off my vacation!

A super casual hamburger (and many other entrees), with a great western atmosphere, and live music frequently. Food is very good and restaurant is big, with many different dining rooms. Service very good. Very popular among locals and tourists, makes up for variety and fun energy

Very good food. Martin, our server, was friendly and helpful. The pulled pork sandwich and fries was excellent. The Christmas tamale pie with shredded chicken was even better. They had decorated for Christmas and that had a nice vibe.

Came here with a large group of about 10 and the restaurant was very accommodating. The drinks were good. I had a spicy margarita. We shared appetizers so we could taste a variety of lots of things.

Came here on a recommendation from a friend. Seated quickly (the hostess was miserable though - could have been the wicked loud band, Ron Crowder & Chilihouse). We ordered Bunkhouse Brisket (pic), Avocado toast, BBQ beef sandwich, double corn dog and grilled cheese. Everyone was very satisfied with their meal. Excellent service from Tanya. Thanks for Delaware.

We were here for lunch. I had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with fries. The sandwich was good but I had a much better one in another restaurant a few days before. The fries looked very tasteful but were a bit too soft instead of crispy. The waitress was very friendly.

Holy Moly what a fantastic place! We've been here several times and every time it's been 10/10. They often have good live music on the patio, the food is incredible, they have a variety of cocktails that are strong and well mixed, and the staff is always excellent.

Was very impressed with how incredibly dog friendly this place was! Great service, amazing BBQ, delicious cocktail and in a decently walkable location to museums and the Plaza. The live music was a little loud for a Sunday around noon but the band wad good so it wasn't a big deal. Would definitely go back next time I'm in town and have already recommended to friends

Ahh-mazing. It's really hard not to over eat and drink at this establishment. Everything is unbelievably good. The salsa diablo sauce is one of the best things I've ever tasted. I continued to eat even though I was uncomfortably full. The most skilled wordsmith couldn't do justice to their pork. Highly recommend.

This is a must visit while in Santa Fe. It’s such a cool vibe and they have a kids playground right in the middle of the restaurant! They had live music from 4-6 and a beautiful outdoor patio. I had the vegetarian frito pie and wow! The chili was perfect, definitely homemade. Also, they’re the home of the famous ice cream potato so we had to try it. It looks like a potato but it’s cocoa covered ice cream and it was so good, save room! You will need to drive here as it’s in the outskirts of downtown but for sure, worth it!

Great downtown location. Very busy, but we were able to get a table right a way. The atmosphere is festive and lots to choose from on the menu. I chose a brisket plate that was cooked perfectly, BBQ sauce was not too tangy, not too sweet- just the way I like it! Other orders were a salmon plate, and catfish over Jambalaya- everyone loved their meal! If your passing thru town this is a great place to stop.

Great food. Had the brisket with mac and cheese, but the desserts were awesome! Ice Cream that looks like a baked potato, and my son had the churro sundae. Both were excellent!

Tl;dr - the cowgirl is decent enough, but I wouldn't hold it up as the prime example of what a Santa Fe green chili cheeseburger could be. Came here on the suggestion I should have "The Mother" green chili cheeseburger which is pictured. First the good stuff - the portions were generous; the patty was hand formed and cooked perfectly (medium); the brioche buns were soft and sweet; the green chili was easily consumable (diced). Now the lacking stuff - the amount of brie cheese in the burger was a bit overpowering, to the point it was almost the only taste; The fries were very seasoned (I would venture to guess how much more the truffle fries would have been seasoned); the service was uninspiring (which was odd considering the restaurant was not full)

Upon walking into cowgirl bbq the outdoor seating was lovely but we we’re quickly told that unless we wanted to wait we would have to sit inside so we chose not to wait and we went inside. I recommend outside. Inside was cramped and and stuffy. In terms of the food it was not fresh and had been cooked a while. We had a platter of chicken, brisket, ribs and split it ($22) The chicken was dry and the meat was not tender The good thing was it came with potato salad coleslaw and beans so we didn’t have to decide. The cole slaw and potato salad were good. The beans were just pinto beans with no thought put into flavor.

This restaurant was bustling at 12:40 on a Tuesday. I had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, but once I got a table, the service was speedy. I got an ice tea very quickly and ordered the blue plate special of the day. The plate came after only a few minutes. The Chile Rellenos, rice, and beans were very tasty. I ordered the dish with red and green chili. I believe the food was a little bland. I would have liked a little more heat. The waitress gave excellent service.

This place was highly recommended by family who used to live near. We made time in our first and very short visit and we’re so glad we did! Food was excellent and in portions we could easily share. Everything was very good!

The food was very delicious! The brisket was so tender that I was able to cut it in half with a fork. The chicken was a little dry. The chicken fried chicken 🍗 was also tasty 😋 The Cowgirl Margarita was yummy.

I was working in Santa Fe and I was looking for a place to eat that was close to me. I searched for top restaurants and saw this come across my feed. I decided to stop in and try it out. The ribs were really tasty. Beans and scallop potatoes were really great. The service was really great and the server was very friendly and attenitive. Id like to make a visit on a Friday evening and see how the vibe changes. Speaking to the manager she mentioned that thy have live music and there is a full bar available. I only sat in the patio area but the facilities were clean and looked great.

Great experience. We were seated quickly and our food arrived pretty fast considering how many people were there. A must have os definitely the sweet potato fries. The dipping cream for that is AMAZING. BBQ had a unique flavor and the meat was prepared well. We will for sure add this as a place to eat while in Santa Fe.

My girlfriend and I got there and was a ten minute wait. No biggie! We didn't wait long after we ordered to get our appetizer of green chile cheese fries which were really good. She ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I ordered their Mother of All Green Chili Cheeseburger. She enjoyed her tasty sandwich! The MOAGCC was absolutely delicious! The smokey rich taste of the burger was just overwhelming! It was the best one I have had. I have traveled over a million miles in the US and this burger is one everyone has to try! The staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful if you're not sure what to order. If you have to wait to be seated.... It's worth the wait!

Good food, plenty of people, lots of different energy! I had the Huevos Rancheros and bread pudding! Nothing to complain about! The beer selection was good! I had the Social Hour with it's Guava flavor! Delicious and refreshing after a long day hike!

The food was not bad at all but I'm from Texas and that is not barbecue that was supposed to be a chopped brisket sandwich that's a pot roast sandwich atmosphere and service was great though

  • 4/5 talleyid 2 years ago on Google
I appreciate the inquiry from the owner. We dined here several years ago but during this trip I noticed that the pot roast was bland in my opinion. I realize this is a completely subjective opinion but wanted to provide the specifics of my less than 5 star review. Expected a more robust flavor. That being said the bread pudding was incredible and as always with any restaurant we would definitely try other dishes here and plan to return when in the area.
