Wonderful place to celebrate the Mass. We attended Mass on a Sunday morning during a recent trip to Santa Fe, NM. The celebrant at the Mass was the pastor, Most Reverend John C. Wester, Archbishop of Santa Fe, NM. He was wonderful. To describe the Cathedral as beautiful is an understatement! It is breathtaking... Just walking in the door you feel closer to God! The stained-glass artwork is exceptional. Perhaps most striking about the Mass was the music. A new sound system had been installed a couple of weeks earlier. The choir was great, and the individual singers even better, especially the children that sang solo! The parish clearly devotes a lot of time, energy and funding in support of the music ministry at the parish. Truly, one of the most beautiful Masses we have ever attended. We will definitely be in attending Mass at the Cathedral Basilica every time we visit Santa Fe, NM.

Exquisite! Perfectly lovely inside. Quiet, clean, and expertly cared for. Amazing and beautiful. Church is from 1715 but looks new. Free admission, donations can be made. Please look at all the nooks and crannies. The stain glass is fantastic. Look up to see the massive pipe organ.

Inspiring cathedral of Saint Francis of Assisi. Stations of the cross garden is a welcome area to contemplate. The statue of Mary Untier of Knots had a grid of Robbins in knots. Unique presentation of this representation.

What a beautiful Basilica! The cathedral was built by Archbishop Jean Baptiste Lamy between 1869 and 1886 on the site of an older adobe church. The Cathedral of Saint Francis of Assisi was officially elevated to a basilica by Pope Benedict XVI on October 4, 2005, when it was named the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi.

At around 4:40pm on 12/23/2023 my boyfriend and I went to st Francis church to light a candle for his mother. At around that same time the pastor stated that they needed help from a medical professional because someone there is having a medical incident. Since my boyfriend is a doctor, he wanted to go see what happened. The bouncer woman at the church door, or as I call her gestapo, stopped us to ask why we are going in and he tells her he is a doctor and I was following him. She stops me, grabs my arm and pulls my arm harshly, hurting me and snickering says who are you? His nurse? I said I am with him. In leaving, I tell the woman that what she did is assault. She says she doesn’t care what are you going to report me? I don’t care go and report me. Clearly based on my experience and other reviews, the people at the church have gotten away with too much acting as though they are above the law

Beautiful and historical building. The grounds are beautiful as well. It’s worth a visit whether or not you’re religious. If you’re a reader, I highly recommend reading Death Comes For the Archbishop by Willa Cather before visiting - the novel is based on the life of Archbishop Jean Baptiste Lamy who was instrumental in building the cathedral.

We stopped in and lit a candle for some loved ones and bought a few items for some loved ones as well. It was a beautiful church I would have loved to stayed for mass had it not been a weekday.

Very beautiful place. You get a true feel for the historical and religious significance of the basilica by walking around and reading the placards. Will visit again if I am ever in the area.

Even if churches aren't you're thing, it's worth going into to see the small wooden statue of the Madonna which is earliest one in the USA.

Wonderful Cathedral. So beautiful and inspiring. The stained glass windows are exquisite. I was surprised they had an underground crypts where several Archbishops were buried.

Stunning architecture both inside and out! The grounds of the Cathedral are very well kept too. Masks are required and the marimbas are not to be touched!

Beautiful Romanesque church at the heart of Santa Fe. It was closed when we arrived so we watched the sunset from its front steps. Nice gardens as well.

Historic & majestic Cathedral. Staff are friendly & informative. Can park in their lot for $12/day & explore the rest of the Plaza after visiting the Cathedral.

A must-stop church in Santa Fe, full of history. During our visit, a local volunteer guide explained us the history of the city, church and people of Santa Fe: super interesting!

Beautiful historic building. Don’t miss the oldest part of the sanctuary, to the front and left of where you enter. The sense of history is incredible.

Very pretty church. We got to hear the bells ring before we went in. Found a great deal in the gift shop and picked up some holy water just in case. Stained glass is beautiful as well as all of the artwork and architecture outside you will find a few statues. Location is right in the heart of Santa Fe and easy access from the square great for a quick stop.

The Basilica is beautiful. We attended mass on Saturday, and I loved it. The choir sang beautifully, and the music played with the bells was enchanting. I literally cried through the whole mass. ❤️

This is one of the most unique basilicas I’ve ever entered. It is very reflective upon Santa Fe and the architecture is stunning and gorgeous. There’s also a nice gift shop at the front and I would highly recommend looking inside the basilica!

2nd visit to this lovely church. Inside and outside are beautiful. Well kept, peaceful grounds. The church bells sound glorious and the Labrynth out front is a wonderful metaphor for life's journey.

Beautiful cathedral that is definitely worth a visit. I like that there is a separate area for private prayer to get away from all the tourists and have a serene moment. The architecture of the church is beautiful as well as all of the paintings and statues (iconography).

The cathedral has magnificent stained glass windows. Plus a few paintings worth viewing. The docents are super helpful and you really have to take your time to enjoy the space. For me, the fountain was the unique centerpiece with the subtle running water. Definitely worth the time to visit and walk around.

What a beautiful cathedral! Everytime we go visit somewhere from out of town we always make sure to stop at their cathedrals. I'm so happy stopped at Brasilica! It's beautiful inside and out! Loved touring the inside and learning more about its history. There were candles to light and a gift shop in the front. (It was a little busier than I expected so I wasn't able to knell and pray in quiet but I still got to admire its beauty and pray in my head. The outside had some sculptures as well.

St. Francis is a gorgeous Cathedral. For those visiting Santa Fe it is a must visit. The downside is it is bustling with tourists. Thankfully Missy don’t stay long, but the stream of people is continuous. The only semi-quiet place I could find, sit and pray, meditate was the chapel area to the right of the altar where the confessionals are. While there, I recommend walking there grounds, Prayer Garden, and the adjacent park.

I'm not a religious person but I do appreciate beautiful architecture. This church was magnificent and had a very charming appeal. I enjoyed walking around and observing all the intricate details of the church as it is still a functioning church. It is very well maintained. Entrance was free and they had people there who talked about the history and could answer your questions if any.

The Basilica was gorgeous. Beauty abounds including the Mary statue. The stations of the cross garden is amazing, the sculpture aesthetic is incredibly striking, brutal yet honest.

👍👍 Very nice. Wish they had more samples, and more things for kids, but there were several booths. There was a great eatery area with places to sit indoors. Very true to New Mexico. Street performers added to the charm. Didn't see any port-a-potties or public restrooms.
