Sad experience no help from staff. Housekeeping took our champagne glasses (that I brought from home, with charms on the stem), removed them from a cabinet in my room. We had brought our own splits of champagne to drink for our anniversary. Despite 3 calls to the front over the course of 36 hours, my glasses were never returned and no champagne was consumed because your staff didn't care enough to even offer a couple of glasses to borrow. So disappointing. Service in your restaurant was lacking as well, after one breakfast we didn't come back because service was so poor waited over 1/2 hour for refills and check. While I like your rooms and location the fact that your staff showed a complete lack of care and stole from us doesn't sit well. Missing champagne on my anniversary was sad and unnecessary. Zero follow up or care. Will not come back after paying for a 4 night stay and not having my property returned.

We splurged on a night here during our Route 66 road trip, and we're really glad we did. It's a truly lovely hotel, beautifully restored. Our room was spacious with a nice alcove for relaxing, but note there are dozens of different room layouts in this quirky hotel, and your room might be different. Service was very nice. Location was perfect, right next to the Plaza and therefore within an easy walk of everything we wanted to see. We had breakfast the next morning in La Plazuela, and we were glad to did that too-it's so pretty.

Be prepared to possibly have an item stolen. We paid for a room at La Fonda for a wedding. Upon leaving around 10am, a vase was left in the room. We returned to the room at 11:46am -not long after checking out to find the vase gone. After asking the front desk to locate it they could not. A few hours later, my uncle returned to locate it. He asked staff and asked for the housekeeping manager. If it had not been for my persistent uncle, the vase would not have magically turned up in lost and found hours later. When it was picked up by my aunt, there were no apologies, no sorry for the misunderstanding, no nothing. These housekeepers cannot be trusted. What a sad world and a disgrace.

Rooms are small, but it's a 100 year old building so it should be expected. Perfect location!! I didn't need much for service but when I did ask for more towels they were the in less than 5 minutes. Very clean, bed was a little too hard for me, and I can't say I loved the shower. Nothing broken or anything, I just didn't like how you couldn't adjust the shower head. Overall highly recommend. $30 a day for self parking seemed excessive for a guest. Very disappointed that I didn't see any ghosts 👻, my first haunted hotel and not a thing 😋

We just returned from a trip to Santa Fe. We loved our stay at La Fonda on the Plaza. Everyone we came in contact with from the front desk to the bellmen to the room service waiters were hospitable and helpful. Special kudos to the Manager of the hotel restaurant La Plazuela. Not only did she help me find a sweater that I had left behind at my table but she also helped with a room service order the next day. We stayed in an accessible room because my husband uses a wheelchair. This was the most comfortable and smartly designed accessible room we have stayed in ever! The shower was roomy and easy to use and had a beautiful tile mural in it as well. We plan on visiting Santa Fe again and again with a stay at La Fonda each time.

Absolutely horrible customer service, went to the bell tower to enjoy the view but they would not let us in due to weather So that would be fine except there was at least 20 people outside still getting serve drinks as they’re telling us we cannot go outside, double standard. If you’re already have drinks from the bar no problem start outside Thank you for the response. We did go back the the Bell Tower that night to give it a second try and everything went well. The rain and heavy winds started after we had been there foe awhile and the Staff told everyone that the Tower needed to be closed. So the staff did a much better job than the first time we were there.

This hotel was once a classic. While the courtyard dining room is beautiful, the bar staff literally chased us off with the “I wish you would not bother us” attitude. This was at 5pm and we were looking to have a nice start to our evening. Not here. We did find a friendly staff at The Pink Adobe. I would skip La Fonda.

My friend, who is a native of Santa Fe and I who have made Santa Fe home for over 60 years had lunch yesterday 2-28-22 at the Pazuela Restaurant at La Fonda. The atmosphere and staff were lovely. However our lunch was a disappointment. Three of the items on the lunch menu we requested were no longer available, no bread was offered and the ordered hot tea never appeared. My chef salad made with yellowing lettuce was not appealing. My friend's lunch was OK but she said she'd never order it again. We know service can do better but will wait awhile until we return. Thank you for allowing me to share my concerns. CaroleOwens

What a beautiful place. From the restaurant to the fine Shops. The hotel is immaculate. Very historical place also. It is the end of the Santa Fe trail. It is expensive to stay or eat here but well worth the experience. I highly recommend.

Got some cold (actually cold) beers on the rooftop as our first stop in Santa Fe. The person who sat us was amazing and even mentioned that if the sun gets too much and we want to move, just let them know! Got the burrata appetizer, not too shabby. Overall worth the visit. Bring $$ though, the Coors lights were $6.50 a piece and that’s the bottom of the barrel.

Historic part of Santa Fe. Recently had my grandmothers funeral reception in one of their rooms and they did all they could to accommodate us and make sure things were fine. Nice place to visit if you’ve never been to New Mexico. Near the cathedral and everything else you would want to see in our Capitol City.

The history, the service, the art and crafts on every floor and in every room, and the respect for the people who have contributed their talents and time to the hotel, both in the past and present, is evident in every touch here. It’s a fascinating place with a fascinating story. If you have a chance, take the guided tour. We will continue to stay at La Fonda with each visit to Santa Fe.

For a second time staying here we had a wonderful stay. Everyone friendly and engaging. The staff told me that most employee's were long term. That says they were treated well and respected. We chose a traditional room both times to get the historic feel. Our meals at La Plazurla were wonderful and reasonable. We will be staying here again.

Customer service simply outstanding! We had some special needs and they were handled exceptionally well. Very friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms, and food was delicious.

The location for this hotel could not be better. I had an issue with the room on my first night, but the GM stepped up to resolve it for me. Some critical feedback - I think the communication between staff could be a bit better. At one point, I requested housekeeping to come up to the room to spray, and they never came. The same thing happened with the fire valet the next day.

We ate lunch at the hotel restaurant. Its right on the plaza, which is very convenient. The food and service were excellent! I had the bison short rib tacos and my honey had the chili rellanos (to die for!). Plus, they validate parking in the hotel garage...a nice plus in a town with limited parking. Highly recommend the restaurant!

Go anywhere else. I don’t leave negative reviews but hopefully this warns others to find somewhere that has integrity in how they make money. Called 5 minutes after reservation was made to immediately cancel, emailed, called -was hung up on, called again, messaged through Open Table, and my only response was a $150 charge to my card two days later with a condescending phone call lecturing me on how I inconvenienced them. Find another spot to have dinner in Santa Fe. There are too many great places to pick from that don’t take your money and yell at you.

Beautiful and central, but completely disorganized. Also 1000% NOT dog friendly. Your dog isn’t allowed in the room without you and they’re not allowed anywhere in the hotel. After bringing our dog to the rooftop bar (where the welcome packet claimed she was allowed) we were rudely told after sitting there for over than hour that even “mental health service dogs” weren’t allowed there.

The BEST of the best! This place is the quintessential boutique hotel. Historic, beautifully decorated, with excellent service. The restaurant is great, but the bar is even better. Arguably the best Margaritas in town. I took a tour with a docent (ask for Ken, he’s the best) and it was fascinating! The artwork in their collection is stunning!

I enjoyed my stay overall. The live music and bartenders were fabulous. The food service staff were so nice and customer service focus. The front desk staff seemed overwhelmed on several occasions. The switch over to a new key system was not smooth. I needed to be let into my room three times on Saturday prior to getting a new working key. When I went to the front desk to ask to be let in, they at times did know where the master key was to even be able to let me into my room. I asked if the rooms being occupied could be re-keyed first instead of just going in room sequence number. I received a no.

Nestled in the heart of Santa Fe, La Fonda on the Plaza not only captures the spirit of the region but also exudes a unique charm that leaves an indelible mark on its visitors. From its stunning architecture to the warm, inviting ambiance, every aspect of La Fonda speaks volumes of its rich heritage and commitment to excellent service. A standout feature of my experience at La Fonda was the exceptional service provided by Mr. Kevin. His attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond to accommodate my special request was truly remarkable. It's rare to encounter such a high level of personalized care and professionalism. Mr. Kevin's approach to customer service not only met but exceeded my expectations, making my stay at La Fonda an unforgettable experience. The amenities and services at La Fonda are top-notch, with comfortable rooms that offer a perfect blend of traditional decor and modern comfort. The culinary offerings are a delight, featuring local flavors that are both authentic and exquisitely prepared. Overall, La Fonda on the Plaza is more than just a hotel; it's a gateway to experiencing the true essence of Santa Fe. Its enchanting atmosphere, coupled with the outstanding service exemplified by staff members like Mr. Kevin, ensures that every stay is memorable. I wholeheartedly recommend La Fonda to anyone visiting Santa Fe and looking for an experience that encapsulates the beauty, culture, and hospitality of this unique city.

One of my favorite hotels. I've stayed a few times here and l appreciate the consistency as my stays are always great with clean comfortable rooms. Everyone, from concierge, front desk is absolutely amazing, housekeeping as well. The environment fosters a team attitude that is clearly displayed throughout the visit, resulting in exceptional service. I made a request at the front desk on the way to our room after coming back from being out. We walked to our room and I could not believe that within our walk from the front desk to our room, my request had been fulfilled and the items requested made it to the room before we did. I was so highly impressed! Thank you to those behind the scenes that make this happen so promptly. They are clearly extremely accommodating. They also successfully filled my request that was submitted with my reservation as well. The rooms are clean and feature such lovely decor. The location is perfect, conveniently located. Ordered a chili rellano and fries with room service they were speedy and the food delicious! Highly recommend. They are worth it.

We ate at the restaurant. Their table side guacamole is the best I've had anywhere! The atmosphere is wonderful, especially at Christmas! Bring a strong credit card as our meal was about $50 per adult

Perfect location without getting bogged down in the crowds of the plaza. Still only a 5-10 minute walk from everything in the plaza though. Super pretty adobe style architecture. If you want a stunning year round heated pool then this is the place for you. Recommend getting a room that opens out to the pool deck level.

The historic La Fonda at Christmas is exceptional. The smell of burning pinon just outside the hotel around the Santa Fe Plaza is very pleasing. The Basilica Of St. Francis of Assisi decorated with the Plaza was wonderful eye candy. Queso and margaritas at the La Fiesta Lounge was delicious with the Prickly Pear Margarita as a standout. The Plazuela Restaurant in the Hotel was holiday decorated and had perfect ambience. Dinner starter, (table side guacamole a favorite for over thirty years) was fresh and tasty as always. I recommend the jalapenos on the side as they are quite spicy. Chile rellenos with red chili and an Apple Cider Margarita made for a very nice dinner. We got a basic room on the fifth floor with nice views of the surrounding church and Plaza. La Fonda has been and will continue to be our Hotel of choice when visiting Santa Fe.

La Fonda is the best landing spot and Central frame is reference on the Santa Fe square. The art collection alone is legendary and worth a visit. So many shops, including the French Patisserie, are equally unique and command attention. With multiple restaurants and bars, as well as reliable parking options, there is no reason not to make La Fonda the cornerstone of an authentic Santa Fe experience.

It took 15 minutes to get any service after we were seated. When we did get service our waiter was very sweet though. No table side guacamole even available.. don’t know why that was on their menu. The steak was cooked exactly like I asked. Over all everything was top notch Mexican food.

The food was so good that even after I was full, I couldn't stop eating it. Had the corn chowder, rellenos, and an enchilada. Nice size portions and great staff. I didn't have a reservation, and the estimated wait time was 30 minutes. I was going to leave, and the hostess asked me to wait while she set up a new table by the door. Now that's what I call great service. I will be back for lunch to try the short rib tacos 🌮 😋

Beautiful place, good food, but the service was awful. I asked the waiter for bread to go with my salad he gruffly told me that they did not have bread. I asked for sugar on the rim of my margarita, I got salt. These were certainly simple requests, and I would have paid for bread. But the hasty surliness of the waiter was unusual in a rather upscale restaurant. Need better help!!!

They totally stripped the character & warmth after the recent remodel. Was so excited to book a return after 2 years of the pandemic. Went online and saw the new suites and terrace rooms and almost threw up. Whoever decided to go the modern route and destroy the character should be fired. I’m sure it needed a spruce up but unfortunately their remodel will not age well and looks cheap like a La Quinta. We immediately canceled our reservations and will unfortunately never stay here again. It’s too bad that one small decision from a design standpoint can destroy an entire atmosphere. No soul, no character, no warmth but it seems they are catering to the California crowd who are rapidly destroying the feel of New Mexico and Arizona. I’ve included pictures of before and after the remodel from their website.

Great old world and old Santa Fe watering hole. Reminiscent of a by-gone era with modern amenities, a very good main floor atrium dining room and most of all, long time staff who are welcoming and caring. Every visit I make to Santa Fe includes breakfast or lunch at La Fonda. Rooms are “cozy” but very comfortable. Watch the step up to the bathrooms however. All in all, it’s a glorious reminder of an earlier era.

I've been visiting and promoting this hotel for over 30 years because I appreciate it as the landmark treasure it is. But because I had a bad experience in their restaurant 3 YEARS AGO and posted a negative review, their Evening Manager Gabe retaliates and attacks me every time he sees me. I've eaten there many times since, often bringing big groups without any problems when Gabe isn't there and am treated with respect enjoying a good meal and ambiance. But when Gabe's there he instructs his staff to "alert" him if they see me. He immediately starts screaming and berating me publicly, making a scene, which is what caused the initial bad review. He becomes so hysterical and abusive he won't let me say a word, goes off yelling his slanderous false accusations and even threatens to call the police! He crossed that line Sat because I was sitting quietly waiting for a table and to make a reservation for 10 the next day. He's not only abusing his position but also the downsized Santa fe police dept on a Sat night no less, to remove a guest who was doing absolutely nothing wrong! He has such a personal vendetta against me he's even looked into my personal life. This guy is sick! However this is illegal discrimination that's beyond harassment and needs to be addressed immediately by the GM. I've contacted his office each time Gabe's gone berserk without a response or resolution. All this because my steak wasn't cooked right 3 years ago. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. Don't I look threatening in the picture below that I took right before Gabe attacked me?

Beautiful hotel, nice rooms. There was a lot of hallway noise from other guests and I dont know if that was situational or not (memorial day weekend). The bar service was really slow unfortunately and they close very early around 10pm (waited 45 minutes for a dessert flan, 20 minutes for a beer and another 20 minutes for a tequila). Staff are very friendly and welcoming though. The rooftop “bell tower” bar closes if its too windy and then they also close it at sundown which ends up being around 8pm or so. Overall its fine. Best amenity for us was the 30$ per day garage parking since we arrived in a rental car.

I stayed here for my company retreat this year, and it was a lovely experience. The hotel was beautiful, my room was comfortable, and the staff were incredibly accommodating. Their Catering & Convention Services Coordinator, Eli, went above and beyond for our group, even after our stay. My only regret was not getting to meet any of the infamous ghosts 😉

We recently spent five days at La Fonda and found it to be an amazing location. The staff was extremely helpful as I needed a wheel chair to get to and from our room. They went the extra mile to provide this service as they were very busy and short on wheel chairs. The room was very nice. Clean, open, airy and a fine view. We dined in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent and the service as well. The standout was a gentleman named Diego Baca who really went out of his way to give us first class treatment. Thanks La Fonda, we will be returning.

I’ve never been able to stay here but I go to the bar every time in Santa Fe especially when Bill Hearne plays! Went to the bar today and that bar tender y’all got, Mark, may be the best bar tender I’ve had in the state of New Mexico. I’ve been to a lot of bars in the state.. So nice to be served by a professional, keep that dude around

La Fonda sits - as its name suggests - directly across the street from the Plaza in downtown Santa Fe. We stayed here for a short visit and enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hotel. Our first day here, we ended up spending a good chunk of time exploring the inner hallways of the hotel itself since there's a ton to see. La Plazuela - its gorgeous signature restaurant - is stationed at the very center while the hotel hallways surround it on all sides. On the first floor, there are also several stores and a cafe so that a lot of your basic needs are already met within. In all its decor, La Fonda plays homage to traditional folk art so that walking through the labyrinthine hallways can feel a little like ambling through a gallery. Even the headboards in every guest room have been hand-painted by local artists as a tribute to the hotels Mission Revival, Spanish Colonial, and Native American influences. Our room was clean, if a little small and oddly shaped. The bed took up most of the living space, with a tiny L-shaped sitting space next to it. In terms of square footage, it was likely standard for a hotel room, but the layout unfortunately made it feel a little squashy at times. I had no complaints about the service, which was prompt, polite, and efficient. There's a pool and a small but serviceable fitness center (which is a little awkwardly located. You have to go outside to the pool and in through a separate door to access it), as well as a bell tower that wasn't unfortunately open for our stay. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly and would certainly stay here again on our next trip to NM, both for the convenient location, the thoughtful decor, and the many in-house amenities.

Loved this place. The artwork throughout was really interesting. The room was tight, not much space. Location is fantastic. We used the hotel parking(30 bucks a night). Pricey but saves time. The restaurants and shops were really cool.

Didn't stay at the hotel. But the shoppes and restaurant were exceptional! The little shoppes have so much and have very friendly staff. Variety of items for sale and advertising in their wall cabinets. Very clean interior and well maintained facilities. Lots to look at and see inside, much larger than what the outside portrays. Have fun and enjoy!

We came for the Thanksgiving brunch with a group and had a wonderful meal. Everything we tasted was delicious. Only downside is the drinks were an extra ( expensive ) cost and a shortage in serving staff ( for water, drinks, ect) The staff were very kind and the place was beautiful.

We were fortunate enough to stay here for 2 days. The rooms are so cute and comfortable and clean. Loved all the shops to tour. The bar had a great atmosphere and some wonderful jazz the one night we stayed. A HUGE shout out to Leo in the bar for taking care of us he make a mean margarita make sure to check him out! I would highly recommend this property worth every penny!

I can't say enough about this hotel. We've been going here for years to experience the dining room, Bell Tower lounge, Bar lounge, and of course the beautiful rooms. Its all spectacular. The old southwest decor, the friendliness, and quality, even that they are pet friendly makes them a step apart from other venues. Being on the Plaza, having great parking, having a world class French Pastry shop which serves the best breakfast I've ever had off their lobby; all spells a return visit whenever we visit Santa Fe.

  • 3/5 Gian Luca V. 11 months ago on Google
The hotel lobby and the room I was assigned were very nice. Check in was painful. The old man at the desk seemed to be completely unable to use a computer. They charge an extra $30 a day for parking which seems tacky and underhanded. Parking should have been included in the cost of the room. The on-sight "French" bakery is a tourist trap of the first order, complete with bad food, hidden high prices, and poor service. The hotel is historic and has a certain period charm. The location could not be better, as it is right next to the plaza in the center of town.
