The small tomato museum is located near the Altlantica shopping center in Vecindario. It clearly explains the history of tomato cultivation in Gran Canaria. All explanations and films are in Spanish and English. I was particularly impressed by the life of tomato workers in the last century. Huts and houses and even a school are set up accordingly. You can also see plants in the open area. Admission is 2.50 euros.

Unfortunately there were no seeds or anything similar to purchase.

A museum as it should be! The extremely good selection of exhibits and their didactically clever presentation make an important time in the life of the sparse island population in the first half of the 20th century clearly tangible. Recommended visit

(Translated by Google) Highly recommended, I really liked it. The Museo de la Zafra is behind the Ateneo de Santa Lucía de Tirajana and deals with agriculture in the municipality focusing mainly on the important tomato crop. The place is made up of an old industrial warehouse that was a tomato packer, which undoubtedly gives it a contextual situation; Likewise, the continuous building, which also belongs to the museum, was a building dedicated to the extraction of water with a real well, real machinery and an external water tank. It also has growing areas and a greenhouse. The objects presented and the documentation is exhaustive; the recreation of the environment of that time is detailed. Parking is easy, ample and free and it is easily connected to the highway by taking the Avenida del Atlántico ring road, it is quite close to the Atlántico shopping center and, in turn, to Avenida de Canarias. The entrance is €2 per person for residents, very cheap considering the quality of the museum. (Original) Muy recomendable, me gustó muchísimo.

Very nicely done. Garden a bit neglected. If you just want something other than the beach, it's nice but not a must

Anyone who is interested in life in the Canary Islands in the past and agriculture, tomato cultivation, water economy should go to this museum. Here it is illustrated how, when and under what living conditions this fruit, which is now so commonplace, was grown when it was not yet possible in the rest of Europe. 🍅🍅🍅

The topic of tomato cultivation and water management is presented here in a rather dry and text-heavy manner (Spanish and English only). It looked like a hastily stocked old warehouse in front of which a museum entrance was quickly built.

Don't overestimate external appearance. Interesting presentation of the development of the tomato and the tomato business in Gran Canaria. Good presentation of the old cultivation techniques, the equipment used and the way of life of the farmers and harvest workers. Conclusion: “recommended”

(Translated by Google) Very exciting museum, where you will be surprised at how interesting tomatoes can be. One thing is that you see how to make a tomato, but here you experience how it has affected the whole society. Huge. And then you even get tomatoes when you go out for more money than you paid to get in.
