Great ambiance, food was average with nothing that I ordered that was to brag about. Wish I did have something that really good but overall just mediocre food lacking distinct flavors. If you are looking for a clean, safe restaurant with nice ambiance this is it. If you are looking for food that is just mediocre and average this is it. I would not recommend if you are looking for food that is absolutely delicious and something to write home about.

This place is absolutely Amazing, If You’re Looking for Mexican food this will be a nice place to visit. They have Most of Mexican dishes and the prices are really good. This place looks really nice they have a really beautiful Mexican style everywhere, the building, the plates. I recommend you to Beware of the waiting list, it’s not bad but it can take from 10 to 20 minutes depending on the day and the time but totally worth it.

One of the best eggs I have ever had. The more I explore Mexican restaurants the better their eggs get. The classiness and quality of their service in this restaurant is the best ever. My God you gotta take your loved ones here. It's a must!

If you are in CDMX, this place is a must visit. Everything is amazing, from their food, to the service, as well as the mariachis serenading you while you eat the best Mexican food of your life. Their salsa was amazing, and definitely one of the best I have ever tasted. The waiters were so friendly and helpful, especially since my Spanish is horrible, and I wasn't able to communicate properly. Our server was so patient and explained everything to me. The atmosphere is so lively and it's an experience, not just dining. Definitely one of the most memorable experiences of my life!

Lovely place with beautiful decor and nice ambience. Live music at times. Service is magnificent. Varied menu. The cafe con leche is a must, delicious coffee syrup. Love the tamales. Big portions for great prices.

Truly a delight! From the live mariachi band to the delicious food, incredible history, and gorgeous stained glass windows, you will surely enjoy lunch here. A big menu with many options and at least loose translations into English. You’ll enjoy it!

There is no doubt this place is gorgeous, stunning even. The glass stained windows left me in awe, the architecture, wow. The food on the other hand.... was absolutely terrible. I read so many reviews about the enchiladas that my husband and I ordered two different kinds. They were both SO BAD. I went against my gut instinct because this spot has over 19k reviews and thought that this must be the exception to our rule of avoiding touristy spots. We were greatly disappointed and paid a lot of money in the process. Do yourself a favor and venture out of Centro. There are some truly incredible hidden gems. I am not saying don't come here, again, the building itself is gorgeous. But get some hot chocolate and enjoy some traditional sweet bread so you have an excuse to walk around this beautiful building.

Location It is the selling point of this restaurant. It located in the heart of the Historical Centro and it is a perfect spot where you can rest after discovering all the great things available around and walking a lot. The architecture of the building, the stained-glass windows craftsmanship, the painting on the walls and the painting of the walls is just impressive and beautiful. The ambiance is great too, it seems that they have a Mariachi band on site, so there is a lot of music going on and you can have them at your table if you have anything special to celebrate. Food The food is traditional Mexican cuisine. There is no surprise in the menu or in what you get on your plate. It is good, it looks good and it is tasty. Staff The staff is professional. The service is on point. They know what they are doing and pay a lot of attention to the customers. It is a well rounded operation. Conclusion This is a tourist spot. And you get the full touristic experience and cherry on the cake inside an amazing building. It is fun and cool but I'll do it only once, and this restaurant might be the best one.

If you even just step inside and nose about you will be enjoying the great atmosphere, the relentlesse coming and going of dishes, and how much everyone seem to enjoy themselves. And this is even without eating any food!! A lot of dressed up locals, some visitors;, an army of waiters give you a super service. Add delicious food and you are in for a treat.

I came here for breakfast with work colleagues. We were 12. They prepared a table very quick for us , we got there at 8:00 am. There was not Many people. But when we left there was a queue outside. As soon a you walk into the restaurant you are mesmerized by the walls and decor! Such a beautiful place. We ordered their best seller and we basically share everything. They have bread on demand with so many options. Guacamole 10/10, enmoladas 7/10, they have special enchiladas those were 10/10. Coffee and fresh orange juice 10/10

My husband is completely Vegan and I am Vegetarian. We order the Torta Sandwich with Mushrooms $205 and the Quesadilla with mushrooms and squash blossoms $175. Both sounded like nice offerings. What we got was so dry and inedible. No side salad or rice and beans. There was no band playing. My margarita tasted like juice $173. There are so many amazing places to eat in this city for the price. This was a big mistake. Seriously look at the photos and decide for yourself if you feel like this meal was worth the price.

This lovely place deserves 5 stars for the ambiance but 3 for the service (we didn’t receive) so I have to rate it at 4 stars. Like stepping back in time. The chicken noodle soup was very good and the main dish was tasty and enough for two. I got a takeout bag for what I couldn’t eat and gave it to one of the many poor people outside. Took about 30 seconds to find one. The other waiters and staff very friendly and efficient. The wood work and paintings and stained glass is fantastic. A very enjoyable experience. It takes time for them to prepare your food but that’s ok because you have more time to soak in the sights. We would definitely recommend it and return.

Chic place with very helpful waiters. Lovely ambience, super pastries. Lovely decoration. Live music at tables. Handbag stands are put next to the table which I have never seen in my life and I'm kinda old. Stained glass windows. It's an experience.

Nice interiors. One of the better looking restaurants (from the inside) in the city. The food was good too. I had ordered Agua de Melon, and Chicken tamales. For the taste, I liked some of the other restaurants more. Maybe I should give it another try.

The absolute best!! I just went to Cafe de Tacuba last week on Thursday. The servers were so lovely and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything is handmade with an authentic homemade flavor. The restaurant itself holds so much history from the ceramic tiles on the wall to the detailed paintings hanging on the wall. I was also stunned by the beautiful voices of the gentlemen that composed the mariachi band that played while we ate. I give this restaurant a 10/10 & i highly recommend tourists to visit this restaurant. It's also located about 7 minutes walking distance from Palacio de Bellas Artes.

Another beautiful restaurant in Mexico City! Great service as well. The food so tasty. There was a Mariachi Band playing and they were amazing! I took a piece of lime cake back and that was moist and the frosting was good too. Wish I took more for another day. I’ll be back.

I think this place is starting to get a bit overrated. The restaurant is jammed packed with tables. We got sat at a table that was sin the middle and everyone had to pass through there. It was very uncomfortable. The service was rushed and nothing personable and the food was ok. Not bad or great. Pan dulce was not fresh like other places that we have tried their breads. I think this is the last time I dine at Cafe De Tacuba

I went here on a recommendation of a friend, and I'm glad I took her recommendation. I was seated right away, and within minutes the server came by to take my drink order (I just ordered an horchata, which was pretty good). When she came back with my drink, she was telling me their special for the day, but I had already decided what to get, the chicken cordon bleu and the daily soup, which was fideo. I revived the soup within five minutes, and it was delicious, it was just the right temperature, and while half way through with the soup, my main dish came, the server was nice enough to ask me if I needed more time to finish the soup, I said yes and he took the plate back so I could finish the soup. Once done with the soup, the server brought me the main dish, and I was impressed by how big it was, I really wasn't expecting it to be a big plate. The chicken cordon bleu was also delicious, especially with the salsa, it gave it a nice mild spice. While eating, a live band was playing music, I'm not sure if it's a daily thing or not, but I was happy to be there, a dinner and a show. The band did move from spot to spot, and as customers were taking pictures and videos, one of the guys was doing poses for the camera; it really was great to see the interaction. I also wanted to mention that the server I had assisted an elderly woman with a cane get up from her seat and walk her to the restroom and back to the table! awesome customer service. The place itself is very decorative, and very clean. I did observe a few of the servers clean a table and get it ready for the next customers, which included taking off the white table sheet and replacing it with a new clean one. I really do recommend it.

The restaurant is a beautiful setting with two stories and with beautiful antique decorations, and music on both floors. we chose the upstairs section because we were a group of 12 and we wanted a little privacy for the group. The appetizers were delicious. We ordered way too much appetizer, since we barely could touch our main dishes but food was very good. There was a lamb dish that I think it was a lamb intestine that I ordered and the taste was very very very gamy so I suggest do not order that dish. Service on the other hand was fast but the waiter that served us, a young fellow was not very accommodative and we found him rude. We ordered one salad for the two of us, and they brought out two large salads, and after much argument, they would not take one back, which we don’t understand they could serve it to somebody else since it’s not touched, and for such a big group, it just seems a bit pity. Yeah, the waiter was bit on the rude side as well were one of the drinks wasn’t to the order, and he pretty much confronted us and banged the drink back on the table. Language is always an issue and we do understand but we try to be clear and we also had a Spanish-speaking person to help with the translations from our side and not to be rude. This is a shame since this is a very nice establishment with great food and great music. if we had a choice, we would’ve not tipped the waiter but it was included and there you go that’s why tip should be not included so we do get some service for our money.

Very interesting cafe from 1912. Has a lot of spaces, we were seated in a small room on second floor so the atmosphere was a bit worse than in main rooms. The waiting time was 5 minutes. Food was ok but nothing special, margarita was fine. Waitress looked unhappy. If it wasn’t for the interior there is no need to go there.

Everything about this restaurant was great. The food was super tasty and portions were very generous, service was fast and friendly, plus we were treated to a mariachi band’s performance which was so fun! A great NYE spent in a very affordable and beautiful setting.

Each restaurant has different mole. Some like it spicy, some like it with a bit more chocolate. Whatever your style the mole here is pretty decent. You must be doing something right if you are open 108 years.

Pretty amazing vibe inside. The restaurant is huge with awesome decorations and had live music. The food was good too and portion size is quite large. Not sure how authentic it is but it was a good change to sit down in a full service restaurant in an area swarmed by street vendors. Service is a bit slow but not bad at all given the number of tables they have. Definitely on the loud side. Worth a visit.

This place is beautiful but ruined by the bad service. The waiters always try to rip you off, saying to tourists that 15/20% tip is the average which is a total lie. If you give them less they start to be rude, don't even say thank you or goodbye. You give them a tip and they dare being ungrateful, which seems to be common in Mexico, but this place was my worst experience

I had the Chiles en Nogada. The food was well made and as authentic as it gets. The place is full of history, as it should be, being an institution for as old as it is. I believe I read somewhere that it used to be a monastery, and by the look of the art work around you that would seem to be true. I really liked the bread they served before the meal. Yes, I would go again, but I'd try something different. Yes, it is a little pricey.

Had breakfast Sunday morning didn't have to wait for a table. The menu was a wide selection cafe de olla is super good. The huevos motuleños we're good not great but you should finish off the meal with a pan dulce and more coffee. The concha de vanilla is freshly made and probably the best pan dulce I've ever had. The interior is very nice and clean.

Skip this place if you want good service, hot food hot, and cold food cold. Was served the wrong soup. Soup was lukewarm. Rolls served but no butter or anything to put on them. Weren’t given our drinks until halfway through our meal, and only after asking for them twice. My shrimp dish had no signs of shrimp in it. Only a mole type sauce with shredded meat. My husband’s Costillo entree was pretty much a thin porkchop. And for desert? Melted ice cream! See photo. Oh yeah…the bill…wrong! Charged for 4 limonadas, not 2. Maybe the problem was they were too busy, but no excuse for poor quality.

I took some ladies in the family for brunch to this location and the place was beautiful. It’s like walking into a different century with the old decor and the outfits the workers wear. The food is good, pricier than the norm but expected for this type of place and the experience but not excessive in my opinion. We tried the pan de muerto and it was absolutely amazing. So much we bought half a dozen to take in a large box. Definitely worth a visit for a good breakfast or lunch to get your day started.

It’s a good place to get food, the staff is very friendly. In my opinion, not the best place to have the tastiest mexican food in the area compared to the price you pay for it. If you want some good Jamaica drink. They have it, and the tinga pollo tostada is very good as well.

You're downtown. You want to have a nice Mexican lunch (or breakfast or dinner for the matter) in a traditional way. You just found the right place. No, its not cheap for Mexican standards, The patrons around you will be either better than average families/business members or someone celebrating in a special way the day. They all share the love for the place from the quality of its food, the truth of the flavors, and the great service all at a great value pro the price. Give it a chance. It will become a joyful memory of the day. Ahh... and no Montezuma revenge in this place.

Solid food, prompt service, and a beautiful interior. The tortilla soup was delicious, the bread warm and the salsa flavorful and spicy, and the mole was arguably the best we had across our entire trip. The special I ordered was a great value for the three courses that I go, though the flat piece of meat on the chilaquiles was a but salty and didn't quite work with the dish.

One of my favorite memories of the trip, and that’s saying something! Great service, delicious food, and best of all was the vibe - it looks like an art museum inside and sounds like a block party with the mariachi band playing classics and locals singing along. The tamales were huge and pretty good. The enchiladas tacuba style were tasty and unique - no tomatoes, peppers, or beans like you’d find elsewhere, and packed with chicken. Concha not as good as some other places known for it.

Once a kitchen of a mad house, rhis is a great restaurant. Fantastic traditional Mexican food. The service is great, the food is delicious. The atmosphere with the old colonial architecture is really nice. Big groups are serviced upstairs. I would definetely try this one if you are looking to have traditional Mexican food.

I cannot stress enough how amazing this place is. The restaurant is beautiful, the mariachi band was so good, the service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. It felt like a very special place.

Always a great experience when visiting this historical area of Mexico city. The restaurant is very nice, colonial style, casual, bathroom clean. Music playing around 7:30pm. Very nice menu and the Pozole (heavy soup) always delicious. Good service, price worth.

El Café de Tacuba is a restaurant steeped in tradition in the heart of Mexico City, steps away from El Zócalo, the main city square. Opened in 1912, the building itself is an architectural beauty, more so on the inside. However, it is its cuisine that keeps locals coming back. Their menu is well balanced and includes well-known Mexican dishes, prepared following recipes that have originated in the distant past. This time, we had 2 types of tamales: Queso con Rajas, and Costa. The first one wrapped in the traditional corn leaf, the second in banana leaf. Both were rich and very flavourful. We also ordered Chiles Rellenos de Queso, covered in a light tomato sauce. These had the right level of spiciness to allow us to really enjoy the smoky flavour of the poblano pepper. Portions are very generous, so be cautious when ordering, as some dishes can be shared between 2 people. Service is impeccable. Staff there is very well trained and always friendly. Prices here are higher than average, but well worth it. The ambiance and menu make this a great experience.

Original local restaurant, with live music and entertainment. Food missing flavour, not spicy at all. Think it is missing the real mexican taste. Short waiting to get a table.

An absolute jewel! Wonderful music, delicious food in a beautiful setting serving the heart of Mexico City since 1912.

Came to this place because of its historical significance, and also because of the band of the same name. I didn’t know what to expect, but when I arrived, it was not what I was expecting. I thought it would have a much cooler vibe than it did. The building is beautiful and very historical. The menu contain lots of different items of food. I got the Mexican plate which contain four different items but I only liked one. My overall experience was pretty boring and considering this place is a mexico was pretty pricey.

In general is really nice! The atmosphere is perfect, the food is really good, the hot chocolate is delicious & churros too. But I think is expensive for two people. 62 dls, $1,069 pesos for two people only 2 chocolates , one churros order(2pcs) & 2 enchiladas plates.

Amazing place for breakfast, the sweet bread is great and their speciality enchiladas are worth every cent. They were kind enough to let me order them with another filling. 100% recommended!

Really enjoyed this restaurant. Great food and pleasant staff. Live music playing while you enjoy your meal. Apparently this used to be a hospital and nuns took care of the patients. Bread is amazing too.

This place is a must if you’re in CDMX. Not only is the food and service outstanding, the atmosphere is everything. It seems like afé de Tacuba has hardly changed since it was opened in 1912. From the intricate murals to the charming waitress’ uniforms. A truly amazing experience.

This restaurant is absolutely cozy, charming, and the dishes are absolutely delicious. We were lucky enough to arrive and find seating as well as enjoy the trovadores who sang throughout the evening. Killer sopa de tortilla, tortillas and great service. Don't leave without trying the flan 👌✨. I don't have pictures because I was too busy scarfing the food down. Prices are very good.

My favorite restaurant in CDMX! The banana-leaf chicken tamale with mole the best tamale in the world. The mole is unbeatable! Incredible art everywhere! A mariachi band also played for us! SUPERB experience!
