This is an historic place which is part of the point separating the Adriatic and Ionic seas. From the top of the Sanctuary, one can take beautiful photos of Santa Maria di Leuca, showing the marine parade "Longomare"

Der Wasserfall wird zu bestimmten Events abends eingeschaltet und beleuchtet. Wirklich unglaublich beeindruckend und schön. Sowohl von unten als auch von oben unheimlich toll anzusehen.

If you're in town it's a must see. Fun stairs to climb and release the beach laziness, move the body and enjoy the view. Specially on Sunset.

Actually. Though rarely used. It's a fabulous walk up to the top into the main piazza where there is a small tourist market. Really beautiful views of part of the coastline and down into Leuca. I've heard the waterfall is switched on sometimes but not sure who or what the benefit is for this being said as others say they have never seen it on. However beautiful area of the salento and would recommend a visit.

It's a great view if you look the other way (towards the coast) It's a man made waterfall and according to locals gets turned on like twice a year (although the Lokal I've asked never seen it operate in 25 years he lived there) so don't expect to see it operate, fortunately the nature and city's around are still very beautiful and worth a visit on their own

Nothing special. It's the end of the Apulian aqueduct and in summer you don't see any water running. In general, there are more beautiful spots than Leuca. The salesmen (especially those who want to convince you to participate in a boat trip) are very obtrusive there. When you visit the aqueduct, you might be interested in questions as: Who gave the order to build it? Where does the water come from? Where had the aqueduct been built through?

Bestimmt war es einmal ein wirklich grandioser Wasserfall - leider ist da wohl seit längerem kein Wasser mehr geflossen... Schade, die Anlage ist immer noch sehenswert, direkt vom Hafen aus zugänglich führen links & rechts von den KaskadenTreppen auf den Berg. Die Aussicht über Santa Maria di Leuca ist herrlich und am Ziel steht man direkt vor der Wallfahrtskirche & dem Leuchtturm.

Interessanter und schöner Ort:

Wenn man Santa Maria die Leuca besucht, fällt sofort der "Wasserfall ohne Wasser" auf, den Mussolini in Auftrag gab. Er wird nur zu besonderen Anlässen mit Meerwasser gespeist und in Betrieb genommen. Die korinthische Säule ziert diesen Wasserfall. An den seitlichen Treppen kann man hoch- oder hinunter steigen. Die Aussicht ist grandios.
