I suffered an accident in the pool and all the first aid they could give me was this miserable kit

I had a really bad experience with the hotel staff, specially the manager and owners, when after an accident in the pool, I was completely ignored and no one helped me. This is not a good hotel, They just want you money, they dont care about anything else.

It’s a lovely place with its own beach, they won’t allow you to stay anytime after check out time which will be great if you knew beforehand- little details that make the difference. Fireplace every night which is lovely, food is nice, get the rooms further from the restaurant, the ones near the restaurant are just beside each other and you hear EVERYTHING from other guests

It’s simply the best place on earth. Staff is amazing, the beach is magic, bungalows are fire. Oh and I’m vegan and I’ve never eaten better. The food is sourced from local farms.

We arrived from the hotel next door on a recommendation. It was my partners birthday and the restaurant was empty. They let us sit in the garden restaurant for 20 minutes and then told us we were not welcome and they “did not have enough food” or that we should have “ordered 5 hours ago..” Awful hospitality and handled incredibly badly. The beach is remote and there are only 2 boutique hotels on it.. you would think they would want guests to be able to eat at both hotels? Completely ruined what was meant to be lovely evening.

One of the best boutique hotels I’ve stayed at in Colombia. Stunning hotel grounds with much attention to all the little details. Extremely nice staff, they also speak some English which was super helpful. The food is incredible and they accommodate different diets happily. I must say we personally did not experience any of the critical points mentioned by others in this comment section here such as long waiting times etc.; everything was perfect. If you want to find a quiet and zen place to relax, that also has humanitarian values and is active in the local indigenous communities etc, this is the place. One thing to point out though is that swimming at this exact beach may not be the possible due to strong breaking waves and currents, at least it wasn’t possible when we were there. The gorgeous pool easily made up for it though as a way to cool down. All in all, we’ll definitely be back and can only recommend Gitana del Mar.

This resort is absolute perfection! It is run like clockwork by their wonderful owner. The place is stunning and so private, several little huts, very comfortable, staff are the nicest people ever, great beach, yoga classes, spa. The FOOD is to die for. This is the best hotel food we have ever had and that we probably will try. So delicious, healthy, beautifully presented and they also play the nicest music during meal times. Also, fantastic cocktails which I think are hard to find. Thanks so much for the perfect holiday/yoga retreat. I will return :)

On July 23rd 2022 we were lucky enough to celebrate our marriage in this unique, magical and kind piece of paradise. Our hearts are full of joy and gratitude with every single soul at Gitana Del Mar. The idea of organizing a wedding from Germany was at a beginning quite overwhelming, however GDM Staff made it so easy, wonderful and fun that we would get married here over and over again. We enjoyed every single step of the way and felt more than well accompanied all over the way. We don’t even know where to start rating but if you are thinking about getting married in paradise don’t hesitate on booking this indescribable and heartwarming universe. GDM is more than a location, Gitana is a architectural delight, a botanical Garten, is nourishing, healthy with love prepared food, it’s life and peace and foremost it feels like home. It vibrates at a whole different level. Here you will feel grounded surrounded by exuberant beauty in all its forms and uplifted by the sincere and attentive hospitality of GDM’s Staff. We so much enjoyed both the organization process and the wedding itself at GDM that we only wish everyone gets the opportunity of experiencing it. Dear GDM Staff, thanks for giving us one of the most beautiful weekend of our lives. We hope to come back soon. Liebe Grüße und muchísimo cariño y admiración por su maravilloso trabajo, Natalia y Nikolaus ❤️

Quentin is the head chef. This review will begin and end with him because he contributed so much to the experience. Read my reviews and you will see I rarely mention food when traveling. I'm not a foody and generally just don't focus much on that piece of my trips. Quentin's dishes were too fantastic to not feature in this review. The flavor, variety, and presentation were spectacular. Chicken, fish, seafood, vegetarian. Colombian, Asian, and Spanish cuisines. The best kimchi we've ever had. In addition to the food, he was wonderful to discuss the dishes with. The resort has so much going for it and is well laid out. There's an abundance of private areas to lounge, a well positioned yoga studio, a beautiful pool and common area. Lots of hammocks and a massive common area out by the beach provide plenty of options for lounging. The only things I would suggest you prepare for, that are beyond the resorts control, are the humidity and mosquitos. The humidity is next level leaving towels and clothing damp until you leave the region. They never dry while there by just hanging unless you can get them into direct sunlight. I live in FL and the mosquitos there were still next level. They are especially bad in the dining area where your legs end up below the table leaving them out of the air from the fans. You get lit up while eating. My biggest suggestion to the owner would be to mount a few fans on the floor in addition to those mounted above to help with this. My only other suggestion would be to add more variety to the music in the dining area. I had "Yo Quiero Mas" dozens of times since they are playing the same short playlist nightly. Both of these would go a long way to improving the experience while dining on Quentin's delicious creations. The staff is super and I wish I recalled the front desk mgr who was working during most of our time there because she was exceptional. I left my cell phone in the car of the driver who brought us from the airport and she had it back to me before noon the next day. When she heard a few of us were interested in yoga on the instructor's day off she quickly arranged to have another instructor come lead those 3 classes. You name it, she made it happen with an easy smile. Quentin is not only the head chef, but as an Englishman also the best English speaker at the resort of course. He helped several of us out with issues and was always available, usually proactively asking if he could be of assistance, it seemed morning noon, or night. On that note I'll end this review, as promised, beginning and ending with Quentin.

This was such an amazing slice of heaven. While the trek was a little to get here, it was completely worth it. The food was phenomenal (great job Quentin!) The service was professional and on point and the environment was just amazing!

If you want to have a relaxing vacation, this is the place where you should go. The owners are always around taking care of every detail and making sure you're having an amazing stay. Food is awesome and they have vegetarian options. They have two daily yoga classes (extra cost) and a beautiful set if you want to get a massage. Walk around empty beaches with the company of the two friendly dogs.

This is such a special place. I hosted a 28 person Dance Retreat and the GDM family took such great care of us! Delicious food. Gorgeous setting. Amazing dance / yoga space. Be prepared to relax and take in the rustic and healing surroundings. Make sure to ask Nina about her foundation La Sierra Artist Residency and get involved in the areas first-ever community center project!

Well well well! This place truly is something exceptionally special. The entire resort is stunning. They have created a lovely intimate and personal atmosphere, and we felt so welcome for the duration of our 4 nights here. The whole team here are an absolute dream - special mention to the waitress Karen who bought joy to our meal times. Also, both of the managers here are fantastic and run the resort seamlessly. And then there is the food...! Quentin, how can we thank you enough? We were treated to the most delicious, mouth watering food for our entire stay. Gitana del Mar was the highlight of our 2 week trip in Colombia. We will miss paradise incredibly!

A very special place in all senses. Great food, I don't have words for how delicious and balanced it was. Very neat accommodation with pretty details, we stayed in the glamping that has a private bathroom. And then there is the private beach - we couldn't have with wished for more, highly recommended!
