El Faro Café Bar

Restaurant Bar

🫤 Food is bad, drinks are bad and the place is a little bit (too much) dirty. The toilet is like a Woodstock facility, full of pee and no paper at all. Is a pity that such an amazing location have this poor facilities and infraestructura. People often mention view, great, Santander, good, service, views, experience, tables, lighthouse,

Very disappointing experience. Worst I've had in Spain and I used to live in Santander. Way too many tables for the amount of workers, for 3 appetizers, the experience took over 2 hours, they didn't even bring us bread and tried charging us for it. The worst part wasn't even the cold calamari, overcooked shrimp, and the hour wait for a bottle of water. The worst part was the service. I asked after being seated 30 minutes if they could take our order and they said flat-out "no, we are too busy.." 20 more minutes pass and I say "can you at least clean the table? And do you know when we will be able to order?" Once again "no, and I can't tell you when." This same, waiter refused to serve us and passed us on to someone else, despite being very calm and understanding (having worked in fast food myself). This establishment really does well for itself despite dirty tables and terrible service because the view of the ocean is great but they could do WAY better if they literally: hired 3 busboy, 4 more waiters or reduce the number of tables to something manageable. Also just a note, it was busy when we got there but despite a bunch of people leaving, we still had no service or food

Great spot to take in the view of the lighthouse and watch the sun go down. The staff were very rude to me when I went to the bar to order a coffee, told me to sit at a table. Then proceeded to ignore me but serve others that had sat down after I had. When what I ordered arrived it was rudely slammed onto the table and without a word the waiter just walked off and left me without asking if I wanted anything else. Even though the coffee was good, I wouldn't recommend or go back to this place again.

Food looks great! We wouldn't know because once the waiters found out we were foreigners they refused to serve us. One waiter started to take our order and then just left and never came back. After being avoided for an hour we eventually left. Terrible and rude, don't waste your time.

We only ate in a couple places in Santander, but this was our favorite. The menu had a lot of variety, which helped greatly with our kids. It was reasonably priced, compared to other places nearby. The views are amazing. Definitely recommend it!

Great cafe with good food and drinks and has lovely views overlooking the sea. There were sun canopies as it was very warm and sunny. Service was polite and brisk.

The perfect Sunset spot in Santander. Food is average but the views are unique. Next to the lighthouse and a great place to take memorable pictures. Workers are friendly. Despite the spectacular views from the terrace, check out the inside as well for details about the past of the previous owner (died in 2021), an ex-member of the Spanish Foreign Legion.

Looking at some of the other reviews for this place, I'm not sure if us brits on our first trip to Santander were too easiliy influenced on the day... but it genuinely was a great experience. We had walked to the Faro from town, so maybe were determined to have a lovely lunch regardless... and we were not let down. On arrival the vibe was good (of course the weather helped), we sat down and were waited on straight away. The beer was great (as already implied... we'd earned it!). The food was awesome and price reasonable. Oh, and the views weren't bad either (aka magnificent!). We'd defo do it again, but given this review I'm not sure if we could repeat such a lovely experience... maybe you can dear reader!? :-)

i went alone after a hike around Santander. Location is beautiful, the bar / terrae fairly basic. Waiter rude, didn't walked towards me, screamed what I want, from 15 meters away... Ordered water, didn't get the correct one, 2,60 the asked, no receipt. Not again.

Lovely cafe bar at the top of the cliffs looking over Santander bay. They serve great calamaris and fish and coffee. You can sit enjoy a beer and look and the views over the sea. A lovely place to eat drink and they have table service.

On a quiet day it's great but today the two waiters attending tables couldn't handle demand. We waited 90 mins unattended and left. Enjoyed the views but was hoping to get a drink !!

I would say I give a high 4 stars. The cafe bar is located at the lighthouse, and is the only food place around. Beautiful surroundings. The food was delicious — we had patatas alioli (which was one of the top ones I’ve had in Spain) and a torte chocolate de casa which was amazing. Not sure why some reviews said food was not good because that was definitely not our experience. We did see some reviews that said they ordered paella which in my experience is a touristic hit or miss dish outside of the Valencian autonomous region, so perhaps that might explain it. Anyways, the only bad point was that it was slightly pricey, but given the location, I think the prices are justifiable.

Great view, service is a bit erratic. Snacks could be a little more authentic but they do a job for tourists who will only visit the lighthouse once. Good spot for killing time before catching the ferry home.

Very good food in a very nice setting by the lighthouse with a view over the ocean and the bay. The servers are experienced and very efficient. The rabas is very good but the grilled squid was the best I've ever had. Reasonably priced as well.

I give three star only because the grilled squid was very fresh and delicious. The drink was "served" lots of ice, it felt good. But the staff is not enough for this amount of tables and customers. You have to go inside to the bar to take order, after u find some way to not lost in the many people. You have to carry yourself the ordered stuff. Outside there is no shadow, kind of trashy tables and environment. But the food is delicious.

Despite reviews warn of rude staff I went here anyway. To be honest I was scared of what I could expect since Santander has lots of places with a staff that not consider you at all! However, at this bar they treated me well, service was good and the food too! The view is wonderful since it is on the highest point, but if you go in th hottest hours put sunscreen or you’ll be burned 😅

Right by the lighthouse at the edge of a cliff stunningly located. Good place for a meal. The paella was good and the chipirones as well. Staff friendly and attentive. Was windy hang on to your napkins. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Santander.

Not my first time here but is a must here in Santander for many and any occasion. Casual restaurant to drink something and meet with friends. Beautiful views and a place to spend some time. It gets quite busy but must times you will certainly find a place to sit and enjoy!

Unassuming café with a beautiful view. Probably the best rabas I've ever had and at a remarkable price.

A nice place to have a drink with some amazing view of the Atlantic ocean. Our waiter was very attentive and efficient. 5 stars.

👍👍 We visited El Cañadio in November 2021 and the only word I would like to use to describe the experience is MAGICAL. Food is not only good, it is perfect, and preparation is the key to success. My highly recommended dishes are: Carrillera, Merluza con Salsa Verde, Anchoas and Cheesecake.
