Situated along the waterfront in Santo Domingo, this is a great hotel to stay and I highly recommend. It seems all the rooms have a view of the water and the beautiful sunrise. While here, I suggest you go visit the Colonial Zone which has plenty of historical buildings to look at, especially the Hospital San Nicolas de Bari. The ruins of this building date back to 1502 and is one of the oldest 10 buildings in the Americas and is the oldest hospital in the western hemisphere. The Sheraton has plenty of restaurants and amenities including a casino and fitness center. The rooms have sliding glass doors and a mini balcony that you can open and let some of the sea air in. If you're a Bonvoy elite member such as myself, the Club Sheraton lounge is outstanding and has a delicious breakfast on the 10 floor. The rooms are slightly dated but the decor is still very elegant and very clean.

Sheraton Taxi Service for Hotel Departure: The Taxi driver at departures to the airport at 5 am charged $4000 Dominican Pesos ($75.00 US dollars) for the trip from the hotel to airport. I did not have time to argue cost because of non-resident to a foreign country and flight departure time. I was disappointed with the Taxi. Positive experience - Sheraton Hotel Front Desk Representative: Thank you for the front desk staff and 1 club room servers. I appreciate the Front Desk Representative who assisted me with printing my airline tickets, she was great. The power in the room went out and the maintenance staff was very attentive. Sincerely,

Thx a lot to amy from the guest reservation. I called her before i came from samana and she and one other girl from the reception did everything very smooth. I really like my room. Good to relax and nice beds. Breakfast is very good. Cannot complain about anything right now.

The hotel itself was great. Rooms were nice and clean. The front staff were really helpful. Fitness and pool areas were very good. My one big complaint and why the 4 stars; the food. Small portions, poor quality, wayyyy over priced on drinks and food. Only ate there out of necessity twice during a 2 week stay. Also super long wait for "nachos" and "mac-and-cheese"..over an hour wait for that?! Then the pasta is under cooked and the 'cheese' part is just processed cheese from a jar poured over the pasta. The nachos were stale chips, with the same runny cheese poured over it with like half a chicken breast chopped up and 2 beans... Al this for us$32 !!! In the Dominican... Really?! Come on, if you're going to charge those crazy prices, at least make it good quality.

Upholstery and floor carpet throughout the property need an upgrade. Staff is very attentive and cordial. Across from the Caribbean Sea. The area is ok; however, lots of trash everywhere. Not a pretty sight to go for a walk or a jog

The hotel looks lovely both outside and in. It’s conveniently located close to everything that you’d need in the capital. And the people there are good, attentive, and thorough. To me my only issue is that I felt the room(s) could have reflected the establishment better. It was okay.

The Sheraton Santo Domingo Hotel is a clean and decent establishment that provides a comfortable stay for its guests. However, my experience during the check-in process was less than satisfactory. Even though we had made our reservation on time, when we arrived at the hotel, they were unable to provide us with the room we had reserved. This was frustrating and made us feel like our booking was not valued. During my check-in attempt, I presented my Dominican Cedula (ID) as proof of identification, showing that I was a Dominican citizen. I had to ask to speak to the manager, show my USA driver's license, and speak in English to get the issue resolved. This was when I realized that as a local, I did not seem to count. It was disappointing to feel that I was being treated differently simply because of my nationality. As a well-known hotel chain, it is disappointing that they did not honor our reservation and that the check-in process was not smooth. It is even more disappointing to feel that my nationality was a factor in the situation. All guests should be treated equally, regardless of where they come from. Despite the hotel being clean and well-maintained, this experience left a negative impression. It is important that hotels respect the bookings of their guests and ensure that everyone is treated equally. I hope that the Sheraton Santo Domingo Hotel takes steps to improve their check-in process and ensure that all guests receive equal treatment, regardless of their nationality or background. In conclusion, while the hotel is clean and comfortable, the issues with our reservation and the unequal treatment we received left us feeling disappointed. It is unfortunate that a big name like Sheraton would do something like this.

Overpriced. You get better hotels in this city. The rooms are really outdated. However the customer service is awsome. Free parking very limited. In fron of water and great location.

This was my second stay this year and it was as amazing as the first. We stayed in a junior suite and a regular one bedroom suite connected which I highly recommend. This gave us a shared living room, two large bedrooms and three bathrooms with showers. The suites also came with great benefits like late check-out, breakfast included and clubhouse access. The clubhouse has free coffee and beverages like soda 24/7 which you can take back to your room. They also serve breakfast and a light dinner in the clubhouse every day. The clubhouse is a great value. One of the bellman deserves a mention, Felix Gonzalez has gone out of his way to provide personalized attention during both of our stays. He demonstrated knowledge and initiative that went beyond what I would expect from his role. Breakfast in the main hall was very good. The service at the pool was outstanding. The casino took my money as usual, but it was a fun experience. Last note .. when booking your rooms online even if you're traveling alone you should always select two people if the room rate allows it. There's usually no extra cost to add an additional person when you do so online, but if you decide to have a guest stay overnight in your room afterwards there is a substantial charge. Sometime the hotel will make an exception, but make your life and theirs easier by doing it online when you book. Don't even think about bringing someone up to your room without registering them; the hotel security is tight and they notice every person coming through the door. This makes me feel extremely safe staying here as there are never strangers in the hotel.

Service was very good generally, but the guy in the Concierge Lounge on the 10th floor in the mornings is especially good! He provides "above and beyond " service consistently!

My bed sheets were dirty, had hair and crumps under the comforter. The toilet was leaking. I was offered free food and was asked if the hair was mine… disgusting conditions and poor service. Never go here. Very dirty. They should be embarrassed to be considered one of the top hotels.

I stay here when I am in Santo domingo the staff is excellent. I always get club level because it is worth it. Felix is my go to guy when I have questions or need some help. In all the staff is great and friendly they always go above and beyond for guests. I would like to suggest maybe getting a wafflemaker for the breakfast in the Cafe is probably the only change I would like to see. Definitely will be staying again

Great hotel, friendly staffs, the atmosphere is great, the hotel was alive on Saturday evening. Lots of ambiance! The check-in was slow, short staffs at the moment of my check-in. The hotel only have one entrance for all guests. Any additional guest will require identification before even having access to the elevator. The main floor have a bar, seating area, restaurant, business center, etc., and one floor up, you will find the gym, pool. Sheraton Club is located on floor 10, there you have access to buffet meals and snacks. The room was clean, spacious. The bathroom is small, and the layout not so great. The bathroom door, when opened 90 degrees will block you from entering the shower. In addition, it's one of those shower without a door, that means after shower your bathroom will flooded with water. In all excellent staffs! Highly recommended.

The staff was courteous and nice but the service was horrible. I stayed from 7/1- 7/5. Everything took so long to happen. On 7/2 I called for towels and wash cloths, I didn’t receive them for over 3 hours, I ended up asking the cleaning lady for some off her cart and had to call back again before they delivered. On 7/3 we bought the breakfast and the fricassee pollo and mangu was very cold. I told the guy (chubby gentleman in a mask) to see if we could get some fresher hot food and he decided to show me that the area under the food pan in the buffet area was hot?????????? What on earth kind of service is that?? Then on 7/4 my shower broke, pulled the knob for the shower and something fell from under the pipe and the knob came completely out from the pipe. They had to send a workman to fix it. The staff was nice (Elisette from the pool bar) and the hotel is clean and well maintained but I’m definitely not staying here when I come back to Santo Domingo.

Nice hotel in Santo Domingo. Good hot water, nice restaurant, pool. The TV signal was scrambled when I was there so that was aggravating. Otherwise the place is where you should stay for all the USA conveniences

I went with my family in this hotel amd we stayed from April 2 to 6 (2023) and my experience was horrible, they charged me for things I did not use, such as drinks and snacks from the fridges in the hotel room, the staff was in a bad mood, I fell when I exited the pool because the floor was extremely slippery, the hotel staff was in the area and never approached me to ask if I was okay, they just looked at me even though I fell pretty hard. 1/5 stars expirience; horrible service, they just see you as a way to profit rather than a regular person.

It was a very nice experience. Food was delicious and staff was very polite. The only thing is that we had trouble with the bathroom twice but it was fixed by staff very fast.

Room was clean & we'll kept. The staff was ALWAYS polite, courteous & kind! The free breakfast was better than most. Just watch out for that sun & the heat! The pool was the perfect place to recover from the morning's walk!

Stayed in room 709 very close to elevator! The room was great, no problems! The friend desk staff was exceptional and took care of a very small issue. The house keeper was friendly! The greeters outside were friendly and helpful! The pool was 9.7 deep and nice along with the jacuzzi/hot tub. There is a pool for children. It's beside the casino, and 8 mins walk from the movie theater and nice restaurants. The gym is nice and the sauna and steam rooms. While it is across from the beach, I don't recommend swimming Because the rocks and trash will make it unpleasant.

Nice staff, very good breakfast, and nice room. Across from the sidewalk along the ocean. You can walk for miles and see all kinds of nice things. Also gets you down to the colonial area.

Excellent location if you’re staying in Santo Domingo, the area is very safe. The safety at the hotel is superb, the front guys will park your car for you, so you don’t have to walk from the parking lot to the entrance (which is not even far). Those guys will help you with anything that you need. The cleaning ladies are extremely nice and will make you feel like home, they even leave flowers in your room in the morning. Some of the front desk guys are not as friendly as the rest of the crew, but most of them will do their absolute best to help you enjoy your time there. I have been staying in this hotels for some years now, and I have never had a bad experience. I strongly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is nothing less than phenomenal! Staff is so accommodating. This is my first time in Dominican Republic (coming from US) and they've made me feel at home. Food tastes great and views are simply marvelous. Will definitely stay here when we come back to this beautiful country.

This is nothing special of a hotel. I'm not quite sure where all the 5 star reviews come from. Perhaps people who have traveled around much. Everything about this hotel is overpriced, from the room charge to the food. Rooms are quite underwhelming and are in need of updates. You would have thought with covid they would have taken the opportunity to update the rooms but they didn't. The carpet is old and shows it. The bathrooms are tiny. They've located the towel rods inside the bathtub/shower which is always a bad sign. Taking a shower no day has what I'd consider hot water, it was always lukewarm. It's 2021, why are there hot water problems? Taking a shower also had no pressure it was difficult to wash my hair. Additionally there's a loud banging in the pipes when the shower runs. These are all issues evident to the management which shouldn't have to be complained about. The food is bland, tasteless and very much over priced. When the burger here is 1600 pesos and tastes worse than the 150 peso burger from the shack on the site shore down the street there's real problems in the kitchen. I tried almost everything on the menu and it was all very disappointing and not worth anywhere close to what they want, save one thing. My steak was disappointingly full of gristle. The chocolate cake. That was wonderful but I'm guessing they don't make it her. They need to fire their head chef and hire a new one with some cooking standards. Staff seems a bit lazy with the service. When I can sit at the bar for 5 minutes with my glass empty while they play on they phone or fumble with papers there's a problem. Also, why do they write confusing receipts and not offer a copy? I haven't checked out yet but I'm going to double check my bill because my guess is they do it to overcharge people. If I come again I won't be staying here. Overpriced disappointment. I would describe this as a hotel that has lost its way and needs a major course correction.

I have stayed at this hotel three times, and have thoroughly enjoyed my stay each time. The location is great, right across the sea, with most of their rooms giving you a partial view of the sea. The rooms are large and comfortable, the room amenities and linens are excellent. The hotel itself is a bit old, but it is very well maintained. They have a great gym and pool with a jacuzzi, and an executively lounge with an excellent happy hour. Currently, they only have one restaurant open, and it's only open for breakfast, but you can order food in your room, at the lobby bar, and at the pool bar. I found the staff and service to be mediocre, particularly at the reception and especially at the breakfast restaurant. However there are always stand out personnel at every place. Felix one of the front door porters was outstanding, and very helpful always. Patricia, the reception supervisor, saved her ill tempered staff with her understanding and outstanding service, and Diana, the rooms division manager truly understand what it is to be a great hostess, and how to make every single guest feel special. There is also an elderly lady making omelets at the restaurant that is friendly and an excellent cook. Those four employees alone made me want to return to this hotel. But it's a great hotel in every way.

    1) sheraton staff is top notch -- speaks fluent English and is always so ready to help. They had a maintenance that would pause wifi service for three hours during the day. Since we were there working, we requested resolution and they were able to provide temporary wifi. So good! 2) it's an old property, but a really well kept one. Pool was sizeable and jacuzzi was a great add. Gym medium sized, not crowded. Sauna and steam room a great add. 3) we booked a rate with breakfast included and I have to agree. Papaya was so sweet and passion fruit the size of a Mexican avocado! Having mangú, yucca and other Dominican brunch was such a treat. 4) compared to renaissance next door, older property, but more affordable and service equally or even better. The only drawback is the toiletries set, falling quite short of sheraton standard.

Stayed there last week, check-in was slow, waited 2 1/2 hrs for my room, breakfast was same everyday, I mostly ate outside food. Overall employees were nice and had a great time in DR again.

Service was good and the room was very clean. Street noice wasn’t bad even though it was a busy location outside. The hotel restaurant food was very disappointing. In our family of seven we ordered 5 different dishes and no one really liked theirs much. The pool and hot tub area: The furniture and tables were dirty; maybe they didn’t have enough people to keep up with that. Also, the hot tub wasn’t hot at all! We had to call down an ask for extra towels in both of our rooms. But if you know you are having 4 guests in both rooms then more towels should have already been there. The bathrooms are very small and need updating.

Seems to be an older property. Rooms are pretty much dated, specially the bathroom. No bathrobe at 5 star hotel?! No fridge or minibar in the room?! Room cleaning very late, after 4 PM and not done properly, garbage left in room. Breakfast is excellent, as well wifi. Nice pool, but not enough sunbeds.

  • 1/5 Yo L. 2 years ago on Google
Room are dusty the staff is poorly trained and the food is overpriced but low quality. Go to the Renaissance down the street instead

Overall the stay at the Sheraton wasn’t bad. But we did not get breakfast included with our stay when we thought we would. The rooms are ok even though i had no coffee in my room. And the a/c i couldn’t control the temperature on it. Cleanliness could be better out on the hallways. The service was good and the location was excellent.

  • 4/5 Hoi L. 1 year ago on Google
I could be 5 stars as hotel is in excellent condition, excellent staff and good location. However hotel lack of hot water only warm water and occasionally not warm at all. So if you are like me like a hot shower in the morning don’t stay here as other hotels around same area don’t have this problem. I most likely will not be staying here because of this.

  • 5/5 Katia R. 1 year ago on Google
Clean, spacious rooms. State of the art maintenance. My room had a issue with the shower faucet and when I call the front desk to reported they were very courteous and fast responding. By the time hung up the phone, two minutes later the plumber was on my room door to replace the faucet. I was impressed. It was instant fixing of the issue.

  • 3/5 Jose C. 1 year ago on Google
The room, which was an upgrade was shabby. The furniture needs updating. The staff is very nice. Specially by the pool. The food is good, but pricy. Breakfast is good but again pricy if you don't buy it when you reserve the room. The taxi at the hotel is 3x as much as any other you can call from a taxi base.

  • 3/5 Dave C. 1 year ago on Google
Front desk staff couldn't be slower if they tried, especially when there's a line of ppl waiting to check-in. If you are here for multiple nights be sure to confirm they code the key for ALL nights or you'll be standing on line, waiting and waiting each day to re-code your key. Chronic building maintenance problems. Some rooms have extremely loud air conditioning units, and Intermittent hot water. Although it's not the hotel responsibility there are Frequent power outages. Not sure if the hotel has backup power but it's unlikely. There are sporadic cockroach sightings in the guest rooms. Do NOT get the tap water in your mouth or eyes. Sooner or later it will get you will get sick. Also, do NOT eat anything unless it's been cooked. No lettuce, tomatoes, etc.. Beware the ice in your drinks. Bathtub gin is a thing here. It's killed many people recently, esp in Punta cana. These ppl play chemist and turn out derivatives of methanol that will make you blind or dead. Remember, attention to detail is non-existent here. Beware of your drinks. Drink beer if possible and insist it be opened in front of you. The main takeaway here: this is the Dominican Republic, nobody cares. ALL standards are well below what you're accustomed to, especially anything which requires attention to detail. Consider yourself forewarned. If you're from a first world country you WILL be disappointed.

I have to stay here for a couple of weeks due to work. Standard old hotel with local mentality. Lots of rooms with noisy AC and terrible synthetic pillows. Local rhythms can be played in the lobby at lunchtime when nothing else can be heard. Gym is good, swimming pool also (except bar). The staff is generally friendly (thanks Nicole), with the exception of some waiters.

My recent stay at the Sheraton Santo Domingo was outstanding. Located with beautiful ocean views, the hotel combines upscale and comfort seamlessly. The rooms are elegantly furnished, offering a relaxing retreat with top-notch amenities, including a tranquil pool area and a well-equipped fitness center. Dining at the Sheraton was a culinary highlight, with a variety of options and impeccable service. What truly made my stay exceptional, however, was the staff's professionalism and warmth. Their dedication to guest satisfaction was evident in every interaction, making my visit truly memorable. For anyone seeking a 5 stars and comfortable stay in Santo Domingo, the Sheraton is a perfect choice. It provides an excellent blend of elegance, comfort, and outstanding service, ensuring a delightful experience.
