The hotel is reasonable. The rooms are spacious and clean. They are fairly basic but comfortable enough. The service is friendly and there's a genuine intent to help but they are not particularly effective. The hotel is a little tired and needs some investment. Excellent location for exploring the old town. The rooms are quiet too. It says there's parking on the website, there isn't any - it's potluck on the street outside. The food service is breakfast only. Overall, it is a good location but that's it's only real strength.

The most comfortable bed I ever slept in my life! The room is spacious and beautifully decorated. The hotel interior and breakfast eating area is very cozy. The breakfast is overpriced 15USD but worth only because of the interior tranquility and positive Caribbean vibes. They have jacuzzi and bar on the roof top but both of them are very poorly maintained and dirty. The location of the hotel is perfect. All in all I would recommend to stay there for few nights.

Very kind staff but totally money-oriented, deceiving tourists.... They charged $16 USD for my 1-year-old son grilled vegetables dinner.... The chef was extremellyyyyyyyyy kind and food was great. But after paying a very very over-price rate for the stay in that type of hotel, it was very abusive... The breakfast was just one option because I prepaid (there were better options to pay there for $20USD - believe it). It was a small plate of fruits and three slices of bread. No breakfast for my son... I needed to ask for the juice that was included. I asked an extra hour for late checkout and they wanted to charge extra $10 USD for that. Windows does not leave the room totally dark.. Unfortunately I dont recommend.

The ambiance is amazing and the rooftop bar is really cool with its view. Food is good too! Beds are nice. However, like lots of old places, the plumbing isn’t the best. The bathroom looked nice but the shower didn’t drain well and the floor got very wet and smelled funny. Great location for touring the colonial zone.

The Luca Hotel is an oasis. I had a terrible experience at the airport, and Nelsa at Luca heard about it. She made sure my welcome to the hotel exceeded all expectations, and it did. I cannot say anything negative about the hotel because the hospitality and care of Karina, Juan, Jim, Marco, Nelsa, and others on staff made my stay wonderful. Thank you!!

A home away from home. The owner did not only explain everything about the hotel, but also explained what we needed to see in S. Domingo. Thank you for makingvus feel so welcome.

Beautiful hotel reasonably priced in colonial Santo Domingo. Cozy courtyard with a fountain and tables to chill with friends, well shaded in the morning to stay out of the heat. A very good complimentary breakfast. Rooms were very beautiful inside with wifi, flat screen tvs, a safe, and a mini fridge with complimentary drinks. The bathroom was elegant tile and a fantastic rainfall shower with good water pressure (an important feature in DR). The only downside of the rooms is that the older colonial buildings have a bit of a musty smell when it's humid, but the staff was very accommodating to help resolve that. We were in the area scouting hotels/restaurants for an upcoming wedding. The host was extremely helpful sharing knowledge of the area. The hotel is surrounded by many excellent restaurant and entertainment options within walking distance, with plenty of close rental bike/scooter options for exploring farther. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, but especially those new to Dominican Republic.

The location is close to the city and easy to access. Service is very good. Breakfast is acceptable. I spent two nights in the hotel, the second night there was a wedding just next to the hotel, and the noise inside the room was 95dB. It was impossible to sleep until 2am. They could have provided earplugs or offer the possibility to move to another hotel...

Found a gem! This is the place to stay at the Colonial Zone! After coming from a hotel in the same area that I couldn’t even sleep, I was so happy to find this hotel last minute. Location was perfect, close to everything but at the same time quite. Loved their bar terrace to watch the sunset with a drink and great music. They have a private jacuzzi that you can reserve only for you. The guys in charge Bernardo and Albert were amazing, made us feel at home and went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one. I ended up staying longer and changing my flight, thats all I have to say :) Thank you! Cant wait to come back! Nice quiet rooms, super clean. Locations walk distance to everything.

Very clean and safe. These were the two big things for me since I was traveling with my two teenage daughters and son. The room had two full size beds and a spacious bathroom, worked out perfectly for the one night we stayed. The rooftop bar is amazing! You must try the mojito, everything was fresh, the bar tender hand picked fresh mint from the garden. All staff were friendly and made us feel welcome at all times. Bernardo is hands down the best hotel host ever! Very friendly and helpful. He gave us information about La Zona and even arranged our transport from Hotel Luca to our destination in Punta Cana. His smile and kindness were the icing on the cake for our day in Santo Domingo. This place in definitely a gem. I will for sure visit again.

We stayed 1 night and our main concern was the noise , I can guarantee is one of the nicest and quiets hotels . We slept so well , room was big , clean and well decorated. Breakfast was freshly made with different options. The hotel is In the heart of the city with a bunch of nice places where to eat in walk-in distance. The checkin was easy, there is not a “ designated parking” but the street where the hotel is located have plenty of spots and the reception will help you to find a spot if you call first. We will definitely come back to this hotel next time we visit DR. Thank you very much for hosting us.

Our stay at The Luca hotel was great. The property is located within walking distance of restaurants, shops and historical sites. There is a very nice rooftop bar with great views. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. Our room was clean, with a great working a/c. Our bathroom unfortunately had no hot water (rm 24). Would definitely stay at The Luca hotel again.

The noisiest hotel you will ever experience. There’s an event place right next to the hotel-- windows and the door vibrate with music. Do not come here expecting to have a good rest.

My stay here at Luca has been spectacular and the service was very professional. The staff Attaley, Tiphanie, Nicole, Raimerys were exceptional Great, they provided recommendations for excellent restaurants and made reservations, they were very professional and also shared the history of the Dominican republic. The breakfast was wonderful and they offered different cultures breakfast choices. I would definitely come back to stay here!!!

Loved staying at this hotel, it’s designed beautifully. The location is perfect, you’re around the corner from all the historic sites in Zona Colonial. I also had their breakfast which was freshly prepared and tasty. The staff were incredible, so helpful and thoughtful - my phone broke just before I got there and they helped me find a place that would fix it, got me a taxi there, and asked me how everything went when I got back. Would absolutely stay here again next time I’m in Santo Domingo.

Great place, good breakfast, great rooms and service, but have in mind they do not have private parking, only the public street in the front. Everything else was great

I specifically was looking for the hotel with parking, BUT they DON'T have parking, even though they advertise it and I looked through "answered questions" on booking and it said that the have secure parking and one of them said they have underground parking. Misleading. The only parking is the street parking across the hotel, We were lucky to take one last spot available there; although if something happens to your car it's nobody's responsibility. The next morning we saw a worker casually sitting on top of the hood of our car; just be advised. We stay only one night, so we didn’t get to use all the amenities; the elevator is very tiny and really hard to 'catch'. it's faster take the stairs if you don't have extremely heavy luggage. I read a lot of complains about the breakfast being very skimpy and overpriced so we skipped on it with better options available in walking distance. The rooms were spacious, ac worked properly and we had both cold and hot water. They have safe and mini fridge (for extra $). Our tv got stuck in one channel, we tried to get someone to fix it, but nobody came. Personnel seemed nice, but nothing special. Honestly, the best part is location. The hotel itself got very nice ambiance and a little garden looks very nice to seat down and chill.

Very good hotel. The staff is attentive and friendly. Rooms are nice. If you're a casual traveler I would recommend. However, if you're planning to work remotely from there, the internet is not stable enough.

Stayed 4 nights. Amazing little place! I hate big chain hotels and residential towers. I prefer smaller boutique type places. This is a very cool little hidden gem! Colonial style. Warm and inviting. Very homey. Rooms were very nice and comfortable. Service was great! People were friendly and very helpful. Speak English too, so that helps if you don't speak Spanish. I would totally stay there again if I'm in that part of town in the future.

I have stayed at this hotel in a room as well as in their apartment property called casa la Maria by oxo house. While I enjoyed the cleanliness and location of both properties, I have had very concerning experiences. In casa la Maria, I rented two apartments and there was a car blocking the entrance to the apartment, creating a situation where the iron door did not fully open and made it difficult to enter, let alone get luggage inside. I asked for the car to be moved and I was told that the owner of the car is the owner of the hotel and he was in New York with his key. While eating breakfast, a gentleman approached our table to say he was the owner and he wanted to greet us. Clearly we had been told a lie. Additionally, there was only one key 🔐 per apartment. This made coming and going to the apartment as a group very difficult. Later when I stayed at the hotel in January, 2024, I was in the room alone that I purchased for two people and decided to have a male friend stay over rather than drive under the influence. During breakfast, the man who took our breakfast order as well as take care of the front desk, completely changed his mannerisms with me. He was brisk and curt. To the core of me, I felt this was a blatant case of homophobia. There were no other possible reasons for his complete change of mannerisms. He was downright rude. It is a shame that this occurred because the hotel is well located, but my past experiences have left me with a very negative view of both properties. There are many options for lodging and the lies and homophobia will make me chose another option
