This cozy place it's like a warn hug inside the Zona Colonial (ZC) Also it's a beautiful reminder of our indigenous roots with the hint of our modern times which show us that it can be balance between nature & technology. It is possible to respect our surroundings & live comfortably. Fran is awesome! She's one of the head of this hostal, she reminds me that there's still good & kind hearted people in this world. Her customer service is excellent & beyond. I thanked her so much! The decoration it's like I wrote above with wood, recycled furnitures, Zemis as ancestral & divine spirits watching all over us. It has a nice pool in the backyard where you can either bathe or seat to read quietly. For me this is the best hostal in the ZC because others can be luxurious, but the love & care that you feel in this hostal you can't find it elsewhere over there. TOTALLY RECOMMEND!

This is a very special place. Definitely one of the best hostel experiences I have ever had, and I have stayed in dozens all across North/Central America and the Caribbean. Not a party hostel, but a good place to socialize. If you’re over 30 and here to relax and enjoy yourself, this is your place. It’s beautiful, well-located, and the perfect place to quietly decompress after enjoying all that Santo Domingo has to offer. Shoutout to Francesca for all her help; she is a blessing. Come here with an open mind and an open heart; I literally met my boyfriend here (we were both solo traveling when we first pulled up — now we’re traveling together)!

Positives Great location - 2 blocks away from the main high street where all the shops are Francesca - was an amazing host/manager. She made me feel really welcome as a solo traveller and spent lots of time helping me throughout my trip. She showed me how to change money, get a sim card, drove me to the place to get a haircut, recommended restaurants. She makes this place and is an amazing host. Calm vibes - this is definitely not a party hostel which is not what I was looking for so it fitted my needs Improvements Revamp - some of the stuff could do with a revamp. The door on the cupboard in my room was hanging off. The bed was made of bamboo and sounded like it was going to break when I moved. I think a general deep clean and updating some of the stuff would be useful. Doesn't have to be high spec.

Great place! We came really spontaneous and we’re lucky to get a room. This place is very close to all the places you should visit in Santo Domingo. We even got a walking tour from the lady that is working at the guesthouse. Hot showers and clean rooms

Wonderful cosy place, with friendly and helpful hosts. The place is located in a great location in Zona Clonial, close to restaurants, bars and anything you need. Super clean and comfortable. Arrived early morning and although it wasn't the best time, they checked me in. Highly recommended.

Very nice place to stay, friendly staff, aircondition in the room, and waterpool in the patio. Everything is very stylish. Localisation is in the colonial district, close to historical places in the city. Definitely recommend.

Wow, what a fun, chill place. The owners are very sweet and relaxed, the rooms are comfortable, and the common space is fantastic with its open-air kitchen and little pool in the courtyard. Fresh mangoes dropped from the tree and we picked them up for breakfast. Great location in the Zona Colonial. We originally booked one night, then at the last minute booked a second night, then left for two days, then returned for a third night because we were really enjoying ourselves! Thanks Francesca and Peter!

Francesca is the property host, and a co-owner of La Choza Guesthouse. Her hospitality skills when you’re there are unmatched, and she deserves an award. She is bilingual (Spanish and English). My Spanish language skills are extremely minimal (I am at the level of maybe a 3/4 year old)—and she was willing to accompany me on one of my very firsts runs to the supermercado. She is also willing to walk you to the nearest guagua (local urban transportation) stop closest to the guesthouse. It is a simple space. But for me it felt like a homeee away from home. I stayed here for 2 weeks during early August (during the pandemic) and was completely at peace. ...the only thing that may bother you — are the mosquitoes. They think your are their Thanksgiving meal. They treat you like you are their jamón—and they like pig’s feet 😒. As a person who likes to invest in and exclusively use all-natural body products—I had to bathe myself in pesticides (“OFF!”). It is the only way. I wasn’t able to find the big mosquito-repellent candles (usually used for outdoors) that are in the US—so pack one or two from home if you have low-tolerance. ...this place is “no frills”. But the customer service is 10 Star.

Fabulous!! Clean, great price, location and very friendly helpful hosts, highly recommend and I'm a superhost myself in punta Cana so I know when I find a great place to stay. I'll definitely stay at la choza for all my trips to Santo Domingo

The place is located very central in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo. The owner is a wonderful lady which speaks english and spanish. She will help you in every question/problem you have. The Hotel is clean, the bed is comforable, the AC works and the shower has hot water. Thank you so much for being at your place which is made with love.

Perfect startpoint to discover Santo Domingo! The owners give all the information and help you need. There is a kitchen where you can prepare your breakfast. Francesca gave us a free very interesting citytour with not only attention for the colonial buildings but also the 20th century architecture, what we very much appreciated. I surely want to come back!!!
