Mona Lisa Cafe is a beautiful restaurant in Sanur. We found the staff to be extremely friendly & the food was amazing. We were very impressed with the food & service, we highly recommend & will definitely be back, probably tomorrow night as it was that good. I’ve been coming to Bali for over 30 years and this Restaurant is always top notch. They start by giving you complimentary bread with salsa and pesto, bite size and excellent tasting. Tonight I had the prawn cocktail and it was delicious and great plating up. Then I had Cordon Blue with mash and vegetables very very good. Lovely staff and very well laid out. Average food and average service. We came here based on reviews but we were a little underwhelmed. Staff were friendly but unfortunately were let down by being more concerned about extra things to wash rather than giving an extra plate to enable kids to share entres and not wanting to replace cutlery. Avoid the bruschetta as they use near stale white rolls that were not toasted enough. The spagetti bolagnaise had large pieces of fat mixed in the meat and the taste was not the greatest. The bbq ribs were ok but nothing special. There are other restaurants nearby where I would go before here.

Visited with a friend who'd been a long time customer and said it was her favorite in the area but it seems to have gone down somewhat since. The restaurant has a lovely presentation for the area and certainly conveyed an expectation that the food would be more restaurant tier than pub-grub, I mean, a nice pub, but still, not what was expected. Started well with nice bread and tomato dish to clean your palate and get started (or smother in garlic butter..). I had the bacon wrapped beef from the pictures which neither had much flavor, the sauce doing the heavy lifting there to have any taste in the meal. Freezer to frier chips and a very small side salad was a tad disappointing in the so far great dining experiences we've had in Bali for the past two weeks. Dessert was pleasant enough, but took quite some time to come out, especially in comparison to the brevity with which the main was served, though the restaurant had gotten somewhat busier since we'd first arrived. Overall not a bad experience, just based off of the past experience of our friends and the expectation set by the lovely finish it just wasn't as good as experience as we had anticipated (and, somewhat feel we'd paid for, given the price compared to most of Bali restaurants).

We were looking forward to returning to Mona Lisa and weren't disappointed. We visited every day of our Sanur stay and enjoyed their Indonesian delights as well as some tasty western meals. The staff are so freindly and the meals are very reasonably priced. We look forward to visiting again in our next Bali holiday.
