Sign says the business was essentially in 1941. That means it's an institution !! Unfortunately it's not anymore. Unfortunately our experience was not what you would expect from an institution. Service was poor, with poor communication and attitude from the staff member who served our table. The food was below average..the fish was very dry like cardboard and tasted bland. There was a lack of seasoning. Fish soup was OK. Rice portion incredibly small. As its a set menu with no other options to select there really aren't any excuses unfortunately. The seating arrangement is a type of bench at a long table. The next group of customers tried to push us out even before we were ready to leave! There's lack of love and passion, this is reflected in the atmosphere and culture within the business unfortunately. Would I come back again? No I wouldn't as the overall experience didn't meet expectations.

Excellent food... nice taste.. fast serving food... everything hot and taste good.. I'm waiting 15-25 minutes on Saturday 3p.m and it's WORTH TO WAIT... ambience old style but gold.. You need to try SOP KEPALA IKAN.. the best...🫰👌

OUTSTANDING. This infamous Fish head Soup Shop is the one people always visit when they come nearby Sanur harbor/port. The main dish is fried fish served alongide the fish head soup which broth is super rich 🖤. Not to forget the ‘sambal’ is not too spicy & nice to be eaten along with the fried fish. The last thing that impressed me is their consistency, since years ago the flavor stays the same, excellent !

It's a must place to go if you're in Bali. You have to take a queue and tell the staff how many people come with you. There is only fresh fish to sell in this restaurant. And you don't have worry about what you will order, because there is already worth it package that they have. So, hope you have a good experience like me to eat in this restaurant. Very recommended 100%.

Strategicly located at Sanur beach area. Legendary place that served only one menu for 70 years. A packet of rice, fried fish and fish head soup cost 55 thousand rupiah before tax. The soup is super tasty and light. The fried fish is crunchy outside and soft inside. The portion is generous for one person. Must try when visit Bali.

Delicious authentic cooked meal! Only one meal on the menu. The fried fish and fish head soup is absolutely delicious, the fish effortlessly falls off the bone and I love the flavour. Service was incredibly fast as well. They have been selling this dish for over 70 years! It's a must try if you're in Sanur. Enjoy!

Several times to Bali during the pandemic, this place to eat is always crowded. I came during lunch time and it was very busy. Ordered the fried fish and the soup which only had 2 menus. The food is very good, and worth the wait. The soup has a delicious gravy. You must try both when you come here

Warung Mak Beng’s popular menu is Ikan Laut Goreng and Soup Kepala ikan laut (Cakal Fish). This restaurant is very recomended for people who love fishh!! The portion of each standard menu is quite big you can share it for 2 people. Unfortunately the queue is really long especially on the meal time (lunch and dinner), but the waiting is worth it after you taste the menu :)

Your place to go after sunrise seeing or morning walk around sanur beach, they're open at 8AM. Big serving & delicious fish soup/fried for only 55K. Love the friendly lady who greets the visitors nicely. Downside was many flies, although they provide little candle on the table.

Only have 1 menu: fried fish and fish soup. Very simple to order. And it's really great! The best I've ever tried.

One of the oldest warung in Bali that serve only one menu for more than 70 years, almost legendary. The place is always packed with long queue Esp on weekend so you better be patient..patient..patient..The menu is Fried fish + fish head soup + rice with spicy sambal. Light taste, fresh fish and spicy, plus the non air conditioned stall will add some more heat n sweat to you. Price is affordable, for me is quite satisfying and fulfilling.

Really good Warung with a single offering: full set grilled fish + fish soup + rice. And judging by the queue made of mixed local and tourists, this is the place to go. And I confirm, this is definitely the place when you are in the surroundings.

A legend only serving one simple package menu yet pack with tons of flavors! Expect a long queue of but it is efficiently managed and food service is fast. The fried fish is not oily and perfected with the sambal chili. And the fish soup is so refreshing.

Was one of the best eats in Bali! Soup is spicy and pepperish with meaty bits of fish head. Paired with fried fish and rice, with chilli and kechap manis on the side - the portions are generous! Locals flood this place and there’s a reason why! Definitely a must go.

Traditional Indonesian atmosphere. The fish!!! My oh my so soft and meaty like it was perfect for 50-60k. Blown away by it. That explains the ridiculous amounts of crowds in the area. Place as been operational since 1941. It’s a gem of a place 👍

It's absolutely a must if you visit Sanur. A classical sanur's food, with the fish always freshly caught every morning. Your dish will always be a feast.

I come before dinner time with no regrets. As i start eating, there are many people line up to wait their tables. The place is not quite big so i think some people might start eating like fast game 😅 They have several options for beverage on the table and only have 1 menu for food: the fish head soup, the fried fish, and rice.

Says it’s one of the best legendary restaurants in the world. A bit spicy for the soup, and yes the fried fish is great. But..them flies tho… The staffs put the dish on preparation table but I saw flies on some of the fish.

The food is very good if you don't have spicy tolarance. The sambal is so good combined with the fried fish. For me personally, I like the soup than the fried one. Overall the service is fast and reliable. Gonna comeback in the next visit.

Best food I've had in Bali. Thanks. The menu is to the point, niche, perfect if your into spicy food, Fish, rice. Taste buds were on fire. Oh, and the orange juice is something else.

The famous fish soup and deep fried fish in Sanur, the established from 1960 something (can’t remember) they only have one menu: fish soup. Its always packed during lunch hours especially during long holiday in Bali. Many domestic tourists queueing for the food. Its quite hard to get a table here. You have to wait behind someone and wait until they finished eating. We ordered the food and at that time its not quite packed circa at 10.00. We got a seating without any hassles. Within 5 minutes the food is ready at our table. The soup is little bit spicy and we got the fish head. The fish meat is little bit chewy compared to other fish soup. And the fried fish is crispy. The sambal is quite good. The portion of the rice is quite small. The price is considered expensive for a fish soup. Its 55 thousand without a drink and before tax. We spent 138.000 for 2 food and 2 iced tea. To be honest, for me this place is overrated. If you going to warung across this place you’ll get cheaper fish soup that no one talking about. The service was good.

Recommended by some of my friends, but honestly I don’t get the hype. I still give it 4 stars because I like spicy sambal. They only sell the fish head soup and grilled fish. The taste is okay, but I expected more. It’s really easy to find this restaurant because it’s strategically located in Sanur’s busy area.

Food's taste consistency sometimes different depending on the freshness of the fish. Rice and sambal portion is getting lesser and lesser but price is getting higher and higher due to additional government tax was charged to customer now. Restaurant is a bit weird, did not accept debit or credit card... Only accept cash. So if you didn't bring enough money, better prepare first.

We heard about this warung from an expats recommendation so we visited the restaurant. Started in 1941 they did well for their business. Only 1 menu fish head soup, fried fish + rice, so make sure thats what you want and will enjoy. Taste? Obviously they got the recipe right.

👍 We had lunch here for the first time and will definitely return. The warung has outdoor and ondoor seating, and more seating upstairs.
