A quite impressive museum/ project, it should be visited by everyone. It might change the perspective in the whole horrible debate we have about refugees. The objects/ exhibits, are memories from those who were kids during the war, with their stories. Really touching and interesting. Unbelievable what they've experienced during war. The staff was very friendly and well prepared.

Excellent museum collecting personal belongings and stories of children who grew up in war - mostly from the 1990s Bosnian War but also some from Ukraine (and they also have a lot of different countries which they curate a different selection each year). Really heavy stuff to digest, as a perspective of how the impact of war carries on, especially for a long time in the children who had to go through it.

Rather small but absolutely touching place to visit. You will be touched to the bottom of your heart, exposition changing often in order to give possibility to present new objects collected. Personnel working there is very attentive and giving all introduction with details and devotion. Take your time to visit it. Highly recommended.

Made me tear up reading the stories of the children who grew up during the war.. The exhibitions are very well done and properly captioned to tell each story. I love it that they had little ladders and signs saying "ask an adult to tell you the story" - meaning they welcome kids to come in and view the exhibitions. Regarding logistics, there are lockers to keep your belongings before you enter. Worth a visit if you are coming to Sarajevo!

This museum includes 50 curated objects from those who had a war Childhood, including 44 from Bosnia & Herzegovina and 6 from Ukraine. Each object is accompanied with background or a story from the owner of it. Some of the stories are absolutely heart-wrenching but help you to imagine a childhood innocence that has been slashed by ongoing conflict (through no fault of the child). The staff were really helpful and explained the exhibition before I went in. Student discount is available. I spent around an hour here including watching some of the video-documented memories of a war Childhood.

Really nicely put together. Very illuminating and touching. It was interesting to me because I remember when I was 14/15 years old and seeing the war in Sarajevo on the news. A lot of these memories were from my contemporaries, and it was interesting to learn through their eyes. If you’re only going to do a museum or two in Sarajevo, make it this one and the Tunnel of Hope.

There are many items displayed that belonged to children during the war. Accompanying each item is a short description. It will take about an hour and a half to see and read everything.

This place will leave you breathless and teared up. An absolute must to visit if you are staying in Sarajevo. I purposely haven't added any photos from inside, so you can experience these heartbreaking stories yourself. They also sell a beautiful book with quotes by the children who survived the war. It is a beautiful reminder why peace is so much more desirable, so again: do NOT skip this one on your visit!

It can be difficult to present such horrific events, but the war childhood museum does a good job of presenting the human side of things from the perspective of the child survivors rather than relying on the shock factor of greousome pictures. Staff were very friendly. Definitely worth a visit. Take the time to actually read all the placards though or you will totally miss the point of the way it's presented.

This musemum takes stories of children, how they came through the war time. Every story of the child is presented with one subject violin, tedy bear, a tin of charity organization, a diary,... I couldnt leave the museum without tears. Its very personal museum.

Touching display of the linkages between everyday objects and the horror of experiencing war as a child. The inclusion of Syrian war victims' items juxtaposed against the Yugoslav war stories reminds us that this pain is not something relegated to the past

This is a really good museum offering a different perspective on war. You don't usually think about the children that grew up during war times but this place gives you a profound insight on their experiences. Some harrowing, some touching stories. Definitely a must visit when you are in Sarajevo.

Stories from war childhood is so touching and sad. But have to read to see the children how affected from the crime against humanity.

  • 5/5 Aaron S. 10 months ago on Google
Powerful museum that uses everyday objects to tell children's stories from the war. The purpose is not to shock or horrify the visitors, but rather to convey the pain and confusion - as well as the moments of light - of a war childhood. This is done very well, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

Very interesting museum. I was very touched by the stories. It is better to go with children who can read but they have a nice area for smaller children where they can draw and read some books (my children enjoyed that area very much)

(Translated by Google) I recommend everyone to visit this special, completely different museum from the others, and I guarantee those who listen to me that they will not repent and that they will come out of it with the thought "it was definitely worth coming here, as well as paying for the entrance". I say different from other museums because the concept of this museum is different from the ‘standard’ ones we are used to. Every thing on display tells its own story, but what makes it special are not just those special stories, but also the fact that the exhibits in the museum are constantly changing because the space is simply too small for everyone to exhibit at the same time. When I say that the space is too small for all the exhibits to be exhibited, I do not mean that with the expansion of the museum it would become even better, because it is beautiful as it is, neither too big nor too small, and tucked away in the famous Sarajevo neighborhood Logavina. A museum of this type could never even expand to the point where all the stories are told, because there are simply too many such stories. What is important is that all the stories that are exhibited together give one whole, a view of the war during the occupation of Sarajevo, but from the perspective of children who are not aware of the events around them.

What a inspiring museum!! I was witness of this war when I was in high school and I was so sad to hear what happened in Bosnia ,especially to kids. Now I saw what was the kids feeling that time. Was so sad and funny stories .Thats why I put them all on google so you can read. Two ladies was awesome who was at the reception .They speak very well english that makes things easy. I believe this place is one of the hidden place that needs to be visited. 8 euros each person, kids under 18 is free! Takes 30 to 40 minutes! Have fun!

If I can recommend one museum in Sarajevo this would be it. By showing items of children living in war conditions, and explaining what they mean to them, visitors will be moved by the stories. For me I could relate these stories to my own life and got a better appreciation for it.

A collection of items alongside short stories or memoirs that people have contributed to the museum related to the war. Some are light hearted while others are very heavy and heart breaking. Small, clean and well designed museum that will give you insight into the lives of children caught in the crossfires of destruction and give you something to think about. Cash only ~45 minutes

Poignant museum, with 50 different items from children who experienced war (most from Bosnia, but not all). Each item is accompanied with a short story from the donator. Some of the items are positive memories, while others are a reminder of a young friend or sibling lost. Well worth a trip.

(Translated by Google) A museum that should be visited and reminded everyone that children in war as well as in peace are the healthiest tissue of a society. All praise for the idea and realization. A collection that still needs to be expanded and work on documenting many, many memories of us who were little people in the 90s.
