Only indian restaurant in city. Veal vindaloo and garlic nan. It was ok. Foreigner food is normally a little bit more expensive but it was nice overall

This is the only Indian restaurant in Sarajevo, and fortunately, it's very good. I've eaten here several times, and the food has always been delicious and consistent. The vindaloo is very good - and plenty spicy- and the butter chicken and chicken curry are excellent. As you'd expect, the vegetarian options are plentiful, too. I'm not sure where the criticism of the chef comes from. S/he may be Nepali, but s/he sure knows Indian fare! I've eaten in many authentic Indian restaurants across the world, and I can only say that the food at Taj Mahal is comparable. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed! The service is attentive and friendly, and the ambiance is cozy. Yes, it's not a cheap place to eat, and the meat portions in the dishes are on the smaller size 150g or so (just guessing). But the flavors are very, very good and you come away stuffed if you eat the gravies with rice, as you should.

Great and only Indian restaurant in Sarajevo! Very tasty! Just workers are too pushy and too talkative (bit fake) which I personally don't like since I'm private person and especially when I come to eat, don't like someone insisting on chit-chats and conversations all the time 😅

So this is an interesting place. We were dying for some Indian food and this is the only game in town, in fact in the country as far as I know. But.... it's not actually Indian food per se. It was fresh and different. No real Indian spices, but the concepts were correct. Without the correct spices however it doesn't taste Indian. (i.e. Spinach mixed with paneer pieces isn't saag paneer but it was hot and well made) The waiter was wonderful and super nice, he's worked at the store for more than 20 years! The chef is Nepali. Like all restaurants in Sarajevo they allow smoking which really hurts the taste of the food, not to mention your health.

Tasty food, although not completely traditional in flavour. Nevertheless delicious. Great service from the owner who is friendly and talkative and makes the experience enjoyable. Not exactly the cheapest food option locally, but this is expected when it's the only Indian restaurant in Sarajevo. Overall good experience, would recommend.

This is not Indian food. Our dishes were bland and tasteless. The restaurant doesn’t seem to use any spices at all. Instead of chicken tikka masala we got boiled chicken with tomato paste from a can. Biryani tasted like rice mixed with frozen vegetables. Daal did not taste like daal. Naan was pretty good though.

Food was very tasty. Service was excellent. The change of tableware and upgrading of lights will bring overall positive change in the atmosphere. Thumbs up for the employer/owner. She deserves acknowledgement of her exceptional management skills as none of her staff left her during the last 20 years.

It was one of the most tastiest vegetarian menus I tried in Sarajevo. You need to tey stuffed nan bread with potatoes. It was one of my favorites. Also, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend eating there

A nice experience and great food. I asked for my lamb tikka masala to be extra spicy hot, and it was delicious. The service is excellent and the restaurant is a relaxing place. We had a nice time here.

Only indian restaurant in Bosnia . Run by local and food is almost indian . Nice friendly staff and quick in response . Ample parking . Service is good . We enjoyed our meal .

Ismail told me a story which is sad and happy, an indian guy married a girl from bosnia, they start this indian restaurant in 1998 on valentines day name the restaurant Taj Mahal, in 2005 the indian owner died and his wife took the charge to continue this franchise in memory of her husband, i was so touched by seeing the restaurant vibe, being a bosnian in this restaurant every thing she kept very much indian, I dont have words to express my happiness to come here and eat food and share some time with these people, they are so happy go lucky and ismail is amazing he serve every guests very happily always laughing and enjoying with all his guests, now we come to the taste, ismail wife is preparing all the meals very delicious and that too very quickly, i wonder how come she prepares everything so quickly., the chana masala is just amazing. Every indian must come here and feel the love these people shower on their guest. I will definitely visit here again soon.

First of all, the menu is Indian but food is not! I ordered aaloo paratha and it was not cooked properly and too thick without stuffing. Indian masala Chai was pathetic. Compared to prices, not worth it. Ambience is good though. Just keep your expectations low as an Indian.

I visited this restaurant a couple of weeks ago with a friend and it definitely exceeded our expectations. At first we were reluctant to go as there aren't any other Indian restaurants in Sarajevo, and those who sell any type of Indian dish are very far off in their authenticity. However, this restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The menu offers many different types of curry as well as other dishes, it is spicy the way Indian cuisine should be, tasty and full of flavour. I have lived in the UK and have had authentic Indian curry on many occasions and I can definitely say that this restaurant offers a similar taste. I don't understand why so many people left reviews saying that the portions were small, on the contrary, we actually couldn't finish our meal we were so full. :). Will definitely be visiting again!

Amazing food, very friendly host and owner. It was so good, we ended up coming here again the next night, got different dishes which were also great. The chef even came out for a chat the second night. Highly recommended

Not real Indian food! My husband and I lived in India for many years and we were excited to find the only Indian restaurant in town… but it really doesn’t taste good. Very expensive with tiny portions. The chicken tikka masala tasted more like cheap Chinese food. The veal vindaloo was ok. The cauliflower and potato curry had no flavour.

Came with wife and a baby. Waiter and his (female) colleague (or boss) were very kind and helpful. Great food. Will visit again.

The food was good but not like a special Indian food but still good in Sarajevo if you want to eat Beryane (rice) and really service was good 👍 I recommend to visit Taj Mahal

The food is not tasting like Indian food. Butter chicken masala was just a chicken in spicy tomato sauce. Also for the prices you are selling the food, when you order tikka masala or butter chicken, it’s expected to get some naan or rice, but you just get the chicken.

it is an Indian cuisine by Bosnian chef. they got the Indian style of the food but without the very strong spices of India. the owner of the restaurant is very welcoming and cheerful, he makes you like the food before you eat it. try always to ask about the details of the dish before you order because it may differ from the usual Indian dishes.

Food is okay, it just does not have that robust taste I expected from Indian food. Portions are rather small for the price. It is, however, the closest you will get to Indian food in Sarajevo.

The service was nice. I ordered chicken biryani, garlic naan and paneer tikka. This being the only Indian restaurant in BiH, I appreciate the effort put to make the food. Chicken biryani and naan was nice but the paneer tikka was nowhere close. I also appreciate Hindi music playlist being played.

Worst Indian restaurant ( we can't call it indian actually the owner is bosnian guy who doesnt know anything about indian dishes ) Before ordering I ask if there were chicken in the dish that I was ordering from the menu he keep saying yes i asked him twice he said yes , but next he bring me cold paner tikka which I didn't not touch but still paid it 19 km ! I was with my son he was playing around he says that be careful watch out your kid and then he changed fast when I do remarks that he is 2 years old children. That place is suckes seriously don't wast your time and money , but if you still want to go , go and you will understand what about I was talking.

Naan was good. But the curry was really bad. A pasta sauce with the paneer (cottage cheese) and some randomly put Indian spices. Not at all how it's supposed to be! Upon honest feedback, the reply was - "we've been making it like this for 20 years". At least the service was nice. But wouldn't recommend for people looking for an authentic taste of Indian food UPDATE: To the restaurant's comment - I went on 11/10/2021 to be precise. Evening time around 20:00. Your response to an honest critical feedback just proves the point :)

Amazing service, actually I was surprised to see the Indian restaurant in Sarajevo which is totally managed by the local man. He is very efficient person and good was delicious. It’s one of the best Indian cuisine restaurant in Sarajevo. Great experience and we will definitely recommend to everyone to try the ambiance and experience.
