Don’t stay anywhere else in Sarajevo!! The location is perfect, the beds are comfy, the garden is perfect and the staff are beyond wonderful! One of my favourite hostels ever, so cosy and comfy - it was a perfect place to hang out and meet people. Ivan (hostel manager) is the most wonderful, kind person who made our stay even better - he helped us with recommendations and made us feel so at home! In fact, all of the staff here were simply wonderful, it really felt like we were staying with friends! We will Definitley be coming back and recommending this hostel to everyone we know!

This is a truly lovely hostel. Homely comfortable, social, secure and just all in all good vibes. Ivan is an absolutely beautiful person who goes over and above continuously to make sure everything runs smoothly and the guests are looked after. Hands down the best hostel experience I've ever had. We stayed two nights in the private room. The bed is comfy and big, the facilities are clean and all the basic equipment is available. Everything is good hostel quality. But the most important part are the people. Unkas and Ivan make you feel at home immediately and give you the hostel experience you are looking for. All other travelers shared the sentiment. An amazing hostel run by amazing people in an amazing city.

Great place! One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. Super cozy and well furnished with a wonderful garden in the middle of Sarajevo. Also wonderful staff. 100% recommended!

This place is amazing! The staff is friendly and will answer your questions. Facilities are emaculate and modern. There is plenty of room to cook and share a meal. And you are sure to do that with such good vibes here. The place is cleaned daily. This is a must stay place in Sarajevo for real backpackers.

Best hostel to enjoy Sarajevo. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the hostel is very clean with good facilities. You can explore everything by walk from here. The atmosphere was great and I met easily other travelers. I had a amazing stay here, I definitely recommand.

Amazing staff, amazing location. Great garden at the back of the hostel. Between the concrete block there are three trees making shade. Absolutely stunning. It seems surreal. Loved it!

I had a good stay at Hostel Balkan Han. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful (such as helping me print my bus ticket). The other travelers staying there were a friendly group - there's a good vibe in this place. I only stayed one night, but it was overall a good experience and I think other travelers would enjoy it here. Nice kitchen area. Good outdoor seating for chatting. Good WiFi. Nice lockers for storing your bags (they can lend you a free lock, or you can use your own).

Best hostel ever! Very close to downtown, clean, colorful, cheerful. The owner is friendly, and he did everything to make us feel like we were at home. You will not regret staying here! The hostel has a beautiful garden where you can eat and enjoy.

What an awesome place! Seriously! Hands down best hostel ever! Centrally located, super clean, filled with such a fun people and just greatest, most generous owner, who is always there to help out with local tips and answers to make your stay authentic and fun! He made sure I don't miss out on any local sightseeing or good, cheap food and gave us all a free round of beer! As a solo female traveler I felt super safe in Sarajevo! Ah just the whole experience was wonderful! Can't wait to come back to Sarajevo one day! I know where I'll be staying ;)

I had such a lovely stay at this hostel !! Location is excellent, and all facilities are really clean. The staff were all incredible, and made sure to help me with every step of my stay in Sarajevo. I particularly loved the friendly hostel cat, Sophie, who was loved by all the guests and completed my experience here 🥰

Good hosts, speak fantastic English and let us check in slightly after the listen check in time. Free slippers and towels were provided, which was a nice bonus! Bathrooms were clean and included a hairdryer, not crowded at all. Each guest is given a key fob, a nice alternative to a key. No breakfast is provided, but there is a bar area. The host also offered to print our bus tickets and hold our luggage for the day after our check-out.

40 minute walk from the main bus station, 5 minute walk from the old town/ city center. The volunteers were really nice, small outside sitting area, kitchen available, lockers in the rooms, only cash payment (€ or KM), can print bus tickets for you, volunteers kept drinking in the kitchen late at night, which was quite loud. They have a bar.

Great location and very social, with nice rooms and showers. Unkas and the rest of the staff are very helpful. They let me store my bags there and hang around before my late bus came in, and even called me a taxi to get there. Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else IN Sarajevo.

super easy to meet people, there were a ton of common spaces and good vibes! Good facilities (fridge, stove, etc.) as well. Cold water and push-to-operate showers encouraged water conservatism ;)

Reviewing more in depth after my last one seemed to not be recognized, and I didn't want it to be fully discounted. I stayed here for two nights June 22-24. The place was fine, but that was it. The location was quite good. Two showers and two toilets for the hostel.

Unkas took very good care of my group during our few nights in Sarajevo. We shared lots of rakija at the bar. He was very helpful and welcoming and I would suggest anyone staying in Sarajevo to stay at the Balkan Han!

We visited Sarajevo with a group of 35 and we felt very welcome in this hostel! The owner was extremely welcoming with our group, he helped us arrange different activities for the group and was always available to help out. Very close to the center. I really advice to choose this hostel!

Had an incredible time here. The hostel was okay and I slept well but what really makes this place is the hosts. One of the hosts took us on a tour of Sarajevo which was just fantastic and for a very reasonable price from what I can remember. Taking off a star because the showers weren't working very well, they may have been fixed since then.

Great place to stay and a very nice owner

I stayed at Balkan Han pre-covid, and now I'm starting to travel again I can't wait to come back here! It's close to the city centre, and the staff were super helpful. The rooms link well with the communal areas so it's easy to be social. If you are looking for a polished YHA style hostel, this might not be the place for you. Bathrooms are small, the furniture is used and the floors creek in places - but that's perfectly fine with me!

Great hostel, the garden is really cool. The hostel is very well located and clean. Will come back !
