In my opinion & experience Le Colonne poses a Public Health Hazzard. This Restaurant may actually be a danger to the safety of the public. We should have known better because they have two very small bathrooms next to each other and when taking my daughter to use one as I waited outside the door a staff member went into the other and you could not hear any water run after the flush, and his hands were completely dry upon exit - yes, this food preparer did not wash his hands! You can better understand the safety risk as there are no proper soap dispensers or paper towels in the restroom either, just a bulk hand pump sitting on top of the toilet that barely dispenses some foam, and a generic dryer plugged into a wall outlet that has to be plugged back in and giggled to work at all. Additionally, on a night when the restaurant was mostly empty indoors the service was painfully slow taking 47 minutes from when our order was placed to arrival. During that time the servers did not check in a single time, not even to refill our empty water glasses (one of which had a dangerous crack though it but was still being used in service). When our food did arrive it was cold and bland. To add insult to injury the waitress said "wasn't it worth the wait?", no ma'am it most definitely was not! The Dover Sole was full of bones and both overcooked and dry on the edges, while soggy and cold in the middle. The veggies served on the side may have been boiled as they were mushy with zero flavor. Not what you would expect from a $45 entree at all... The Minestrone soup was nothing but hot water and bland vegetables, no rice or pasta, no beans, but it did have cauliflower... Who puts that in minestrone? My grandmother, God rest her soul, would have hurt her heart to see the heritage of her homeland disgraced in this manner. My daughter's cheese pizza had human hair in it - disgusting! Within hours of the meal I became very sick, followed shortly by my wife and daughter. All three of us developed severe food posting and as I write this the next day are all still very ill. Le Colonne did not just ruin our dinner, it ruined our entire family vacation! I wish I had taken pictures of the bones, the hair, the broken water glass still being used, and the unkept little restrooms to show to the health department, but I was trying to be nice and give this place a chance. Big mistake, Le Colonne does not deserve your compassion, it deserves to be closed as a health and safety precaution so the unsuspecting people of Sarasota do not fall victim to this awful establishment as our family did. If you see Le Colonne, please keep walking as there are so many better and safer options in beautiful St. Armands circle. UPDATE: In response to the owners, I have posted 74 reviews and this is the only 1-star ever because I believe your establishment poses a genuine safety Hazzard to the public. Please install functional soap dispensers in the restrooms and ensure your staff adhere to routine hand washing. Remove the broken glassware before it hurts someone. Safety first! Then address the quality of food and service. This is not a malicious post, it is factual, heartfelt, and genuinely written out of concern for your future patrons. If you care as much as you say in your reply go into your business and look for yourself, you will see these problems first hand and please take care to fix them!

Had the most amazing post Thanksgiving dinner with my family today. The town was extremely packed. The staff was very accommodating and sat us right away. Our server (sadly, couldn’t catch his name) was the nicest gentleman and was very attentive. The food was absolutely amazing. The pasta tasted very fresh as well as the seafood. A hidden gem!! The atmosphere outside is beautiful as it was nice and calm, not like all of the other restaurants nearby that were extremely loud with tons of people walking very close to your food. Will definitely be back. Our family loved it! Even gave my dog cold water!!! Best Italian food.

My family comes to Sarasota every year, St Armands is usually a place we frequent. This evening when we were looking for dinner we typically go to the Columbia , but while shopping the owner of the shop pointed us in the direction of La Cologne .It’s stated on the map of Saint Armands to have gluten-free options. Once arriving to the restaurant the hostess did let us know that they had gluten-free pasta and pizza as well some of the entrées that could be made gluten-free however they did not have a gluten-free menu. I inquired if they cooked there pasta in separate pots as my children did have allergies . The hostess said it is cooked obviously in a shared kitchen , which we are well familiar with , but she reassured us that they were very careful. After sitting down and waiting quite a while for a waitress to come and take her order. When she arrived she said that we could not order the pasta as it was not safe, She did not seem very knowledgeable about gluten-free items which I found very surprising considering it states on the circles directories that the restaurant has gluten-free options. I’ve never been to a restaurant where it has stated that and the serving staff was not familiar with what would be gluten-free. It took a long time to sort out a couple things in the kitchen , we ended up ordering three entrées. One of my daughters ordered the Shrimp my other daughter ordered the Salmon and I myself ordered the Grouper. I inquired if their fish was frozen or fresh as I would never order frozen fish in Florida, I would just order a salad . I can get frozen fish in Michigan . I was told that their items were fresh. The waitress was not sure if the shrimp could be served with a vegetable?? As she thought it came with a side of pasta ? She excuse herself again to go check but did not come back to our table so we actually didn’t know whether our order was placed and continued to wait another 15 minutes. When I flagged her down she let me know that it was fine but when our meals arrived about 30+ minutes later My grouper was clearly frozen it was overcooked and the vegetables on the side of my plate were clearly Not fresh either. A $37 meal is not horribly expensive but I am in a more upscale area in Florida and when I buy the most expensive thing on the menu I expect it to look appetizing into taste appetizing. Honestly I should’ve not eaten it at all and returned it. To top that all off I’m having severe stomach pain so apparently my dish was not gluten-free because I feel incredibly sick. If the Columbia that is covered with Cuban bread can serve me something and not get me sick I would expect the same from a restaurant that actually claims they have gluten-free options …but apparently that’s not the case. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody that is gluten-free!! Quite frankly I think it is overpriced and I would never spend that much for pasta to get frozen vegetables and probably premade sauce dumped onto a plate. This was not the quality I expect at all when I come St Armands!! Very disappointed in our experience.

If you love homemade Italian food, this is a must. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing. Had an appetizer that was excellent. Great and attentive service. Love this place!

Probably the worst “Italian” experience ever. Cheese platter for two was just that but never would I expected cheese and orange marmalade, that’s it! The antipasto for two was supposed tantalize our sense. It’s as soaked bread with tomatoes two slices of thick prosciutto and some sliced salami. The best part was the server didn’t care and said that’s what we ordered.

Very expensive and not worth the price. The Lasagna was mushy, way overcooked and tasted like it had been sitting around all day then just barely heated up, ($29). My daughter had eggplant and she said it was good. She can’t have pasta and asked for some sliced tomatoes instead. They gave her pasta anyway and charged $15 for a sliced tomato. My wife had the Dover sole and she liked it but that dish was $56. With an appetizer and wine the bill was over $200 for 3 people but the food was definitely not worth the price.

I loved this restaurant. We were there twice last weekend. The food was super good and the waiter very very nice. His name is Peter and he's from Yugoslavia. He was very special with us. Thank you Peter for the delicious tiramissu!!!! I hope to back soon.

I guess it's supposed to be a more upscale Italian place? The prices are definitely very high for the amount of food that you get. Cheapest this should I was able to locate was 18 and $19 all the way up to $56 for a plate. The little bit of food that we get together it was tasty, and the lobster raviolis we got word different from normal restaurants, however, not enough to justify the prices of this place. The server was nice enough to let my family sit there for a few minutes before I arrived and did provide them with water and for free bread, however, after that it goes down idle as we felt ignored and he really never came back after that. The environment is nice, it is in the fashion of Italy, with a full bar attached to the Joint and I probably won't go back there just because of the prices and quality of food.

Very nice. We were the last guests but they were very kind to us and got food out hot and fresh very fast. Excellent service even though everyone had to be exhausted from a long day. In and out in half an hour which we LOVED! Great hand made pasta and kept the water refills perfectly even though they were in the process of closing kitchen for the night. Hard working people, genuine italian food.

We were here on vacation. This was our last night. Asked for a cozy table. Was sat by front door with a super loud fan, table that wobbled. Instead of waitress suggesting we move, she brings out something we could slip under the leg that did not work. Seriously? Food was just average. Way WAY overpriced for what you get. Flavorless salad, Italian entrees just so so. The bread was a measly portion. Had to ask to get our bill. When I went to visit the restroom I had a chance to view the other areas of the restaurant which were very nice but instead we ended up by the door and at the time the only ones they were serving. What a joke. Thanks for making our last meal in Sarasota so unmemorable.

Family of 4 8:40 pm We wait 15 minutes After waiting 20minutes sitting at the table with our screaming kids,my wife decided to look for a server to get some bread because nobody never showed up 👌 Service was rude with no smile. I ordered a Margherita with ham and mushroom and they bring me a Margherita, after I explained that I ordered a different pizza they put the toppings on top later but with prosciutto crudo and not ham. My wife’s pizza arrived 10 minutes later😳 At the end I left 18% tips and I talked in Italian with Debora to explain the service wasn’t good from the start to the end and she told me,next time ask for me🤌🏼 This was our third time here but surely the last. Something has changed at this restaurant. I’m Italian this is not what i aspect from really Italian restaurant. We will never be back again Debora.

Food was horrible! The sauce tasted like it was from a can of spaghettios. Pasta was supposed to be homemade. No way it looked like spaghetti from a can. Eggplant was the worst I’ve ever tasted. Service not so great either. Stay away from this place. Menu online not the same as when you go there. I’d have to say worst food I’ve ever had in a restaurant & I go out to eat a lot. Big waste of $200.

Stopped for an impromptu dinner while perusing St. Armands. So glad we did!!! I more than enjoyed The Trio. The lobster ravioli, veal/mushroom ravioli, and spinach/cheese ravioli were all to die for, including their respective sauces. The lasagna was a classically flavorful dish and devoured quickly. The waitress was kind enough to bring us the most delicious pesto for dipping our fresh bread - highly recommend!! The most amazing meal. 10/ 10 would visit again!!!

Would not recommend. We wanted to leave this place right after we got inside, it was small really bad. I believe, it was chemicals for tablecloths, it had very pungent smell. But since it was Thanksgiving, we didn’t have a lot of options, and we decided give this restaurant a chance. The waiter was very nice, but food was so horrible! We’ve ordered fettuccine and gnocchi, and the waiter brought us the food less than a 10 min… it’s not possible to prepare it so fast, unless they just heated it in microwave. Both dishes were terrible, it was combo of poor quality food and awful culinary skills. And it was not a cheap restaurant, each dish cost around $30. I’ll just leave this photo of rusty salt shaker from this place, so it is clear without any words.

We went to the restaurant around 6 pm and surprisingly there wasn't a wait. There was live music playing out front which they ha e tables out front but we sat inside near the door so we could still enjoy the music. The service was excellent. The only thing that bothered me was we orders chicken fettuccine which wasn't in the menu but the waitress said they surely can make it. The bad thing is the cost was $32.50 each! We orders 2. My husband ordered a shrimp scampi for only $28. Other than the expensive chicken fettuccine, everything was good.

We happened to stumble across this place while doing some shopping. The resturant was very clean and inviting. We enjoyed fresh made bread as we waited for our food. I decided on the chicken parm which is my go to and it was phenomenal. I ate it all. It was thin sliced and tender. The cheese on top was fresh and never ending. The sauce tasted home made and juicy. I would go back again.

Absolutely incredible! The atmosphere, the staff, the food is some of the best I’ve ever had! The father who is 83 years old gets up every day at 7am and hand rolls the pasta after opening the doors. It’s family owned and operated! Support local! They are all from Italy !! 10 stars and we will definitely be back!

Wonderful Food! Wonderful Atmosphere! Wonderful Staff! We were greeted promptly, and seated outside where we requested. Social Distancing was enforced and we felt safe eating here. Me being Italian, I must say this is one of the best Italian Restaurants in Sarasota. If you are near the area, I definitely recommend. In the evenings they have beautiful lights that are lit up around you giving a wonderful ambience.

Food was okay but The waiter treated us roughly. Throwing the spoon and stuff. No one there except us but worker’s were sitting down on the chairs and talking to each others. And I guess the stereo was broken and made annoying sounds. It was not good day.
