Westin is located by the marina, and is a short drive to Sarasota beaches. The hotel is nice and clean, there's a restaurant and a bar on rooftop by the pool with spectacular views. There's also some outdoor seating by the fire at the lobby level one floor above the street. Rooms with balconies are nice and some have a partial view of the marina where all the fireworks happen during the holidays. Breakfast buffet is 16$ and included pastries, yogurt and eggs - no meats of any kind. As a platinum Marriott member, I was not able to get an upgrade or even an early check-in - the hotel gets sold out for the holidays. Rooftop capacity is also limited, and most guests were turned back when trying to get to the 19th floor to see the fireworks. The bar downstairs was therefore also overcrowded, with a lot of people being drunk and misbehaving. Hotel administration didn't do much about that, as far as I could see. During my stay, the police were called, after one of the guests assaulted another. Other items to mention - parking is valet-only, at 35$ power night, in addition to the 20+$ activity fee (which I frankly think should be optional). I was charged for valet parking even though I wasn't driving a car. They did straighten it out at the reception, but do check your bill when you check out. The hotel is not walkable at all - there's heavy, prolonged road construction around it. All in all, I rate my stay 3 stars.

It was good, but not 'great' this time. Service express is now not express at all. We are very 'low maintenance' but they could not even get over that low bar. They are still very good at taking your money- inflated prices, 'resort fees' and parking. The hotel is well kept up and I appreciate the manager who is very nice. However, they did not make us feel very special this time

Not a fan of the fact that they only do valet parking. I like to come and go as I please and not have to wait for someone to bring me my car. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay here. The rooms are nice, the bartender and runners at the pool were awesome.

Great location in Downtown Sarasota. Great views from the rooftop. Nice room layout and features. But a surprising number of items in the room needing repair / attention for a hotel built in the last 7+ years.

The clean super comfy beds great bath but mainly customer service. From the Valet to housekeeping to concierge, things are taken care of quickly. The food and drinks and outrageous valet costs are big minuses. But this is super clean hotel with a lovely pool. And it is quiet.

One more time, we had an absolutely amazing time at this Westin. The front desk staff Marcia, Maria, and Chris made us feel very welcome. Thank you, ladies, you all are the best!!! Rooms were upgraded with great views. The breakfast was delicious, with great healthy options, our server Gina was very professional give us good recommendations and excellent service At the rooftop Christian will be sure you have a pleasant time, where is a bar and a swimming pool. You will have a great opportunity to see the sunset with a beautiful view of Sarasota Bay. The valet parking staff were attentive and all the hotel staff went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable. Nothing was wrong! Plus, the location of this Westin is the best in the Sarasota area. We definitely go back.

Our recent stay at Westin in Sarasota was absolutely amazing! We were welcomed by Marcia and she took care of everything and treated us like VIP ! Starting with very quick check in and Our suit was all ready for us in advance with all the extra needs like roller bed etc were set up prior to our check in ! Suit was very specious, clean and to the highest standards! We received a complementary gift of champagne from the Hotel as well! Service at the pool was excellent as well, great selection of healthy and delicious food choices(veggie plate was favorite) , our waitress was so nice and welcoming, she and the guard gentleman Shane was kind enough to answer million questions to our kids and helped us with all our needs at the pool(setting up an umbrella, bringing extra table ,towels and seating etc) Breakfast was excellent , great selection for the whole family and it was delicious! The location of the hotel is also perfect walking distance to a beautiful marine park and all the restaurants, and just minutes to the beach! We are definitely booking this hotel again and recommending it to all our friends and

I loved everything about this hotel. Checkin was a bit slow and could be improved. After weeks of deciding where to stay, I decided on the Westin and it was the perfect choice for us. The hotel itself is beautiful. The rooftop pool and bar was comfortable and a nice place to hangout for a bite to eat or quick swim. They also have an outdoor patio lounge area that my husband enjoyed while smoking his cigars. Every need was accommodated. I would also recommend using the hotel shuttle as it was beneficial to have that option instead of getting our car every day for the beach, shopping, or restaurants. Whenever I'm in Sarasota, I will certainly return to the Westin.

Beautiful hotel, great valet service, nice rooms but nothing is open much past 10 for food or drink. The gorgeous rooftop bar closed without warning for construction, and construction noises without warning. The front desk doesn't have/give information on these situations. Lobby bar closes whenever they feel, don't adhere to posted closing times.

3 nights...$2500 in room charges and the spa. An expensive weekend. We had a queen bed room overlooking the Marina w a balcony. The rooftop pool and restaurant was phenomenal. Breakfast and apps r great. Dinner was marginal. The Westin is old n worn out. Will try the Ritz Carlton next door the next time we r here.

Nice Westin. As expected from Westin. Clean, well appointed room. Nice bathroom. Good bed and pillows. Good service. One issue: I booked a “bay view” room. Can you really call this a bay view?

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel this past weekend. Steve, at the reception desk, was wonderful. And, Maddy at the rooftop bar was awesome as well! The shuttle service to points of interest close to the hotel was so convenient - shout out to Chance! We will be back!

We recently went to the Westin for a quick weekend getaway! We had the pleasure of having Maria Andersen, check us in always with a smile and making us feel like we are part of her family welcoming us back to our second home :) We were really surprised when we went to our room and we had been upgraded to a beautiful corner room with floor to ceiling windows and the most beautiful view to the marina. Wine and chocolate covered strawberries were delivered with a heart warming note appreciating our return back to the hotel. The view from the balcony was really spectacular. We also had a great interaction with Sean, the pool attendant/security, he was really polite and helpful and is a great addition to the Westin family.

Myself and my wife recently stayed for our birthday weekend. Despite the initial confusion due to the construction we were able to locate the hotel pretty quickly. The valet team was quick and efficient and for $35.00 per night which includes shuttle service. It was an absolute blessing! Upon checking in, we encountered Russ who was quick and efficient and ensuring every person was handled! We asked to see if there was any upgrades available, and he was able to put us in a city view! The room itself was pleasant. If there is only one nitpick, would be from the television/remote due to the slow delay from button push to registering. I do recommend getting the breakfast package as well as you can order off the menu versus a "limited" item. I even got to experience new foods that I normally would never think to try! Huge shoutout to Jenn for making us feel welcomed! The roof top bar and pool provided an exquisite view for those who enjoy tanning/having a pint! Best hotel my wife and I have stayed at!

We're locals. The spa experience was fabulous! Irina did my facial and she was so so awesome. I left feeling so relaxed and it was such a treat. My husband had a massage with Jennifer and he absolutely loved it as well. Excellent quality and service! The lady at the front desk was also helpful and sweet. We will definitely be returning for more spa staycations and highly recommend.

This is a fabulous hotel. I've seen some reviews that were not so pleasant and I have no idea how anybody could say anything bad about this place since it is gorgeous and so clean. Went to the rooftop bar yesterday and we really enjoyed the food and had decent sized drinks. Definitely recommend that the french onion soup.I have a partial view of the ocean and the room is really lovely. The staff here couldn't do enough for you. They have a shuttle that will bring you to just most places that you need to go to.

Pros: Free champagne voucher, friendly service, in the heart of downtown, very quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Cons: No self parking, only option is valet. So if you plan to be in and out of the hotel during your stay, make sure to tell the Valet at least 30 minutes before you head down to grab your car. Bed was dirty upon arrival and did not have a fitted sheet, just flat sheets layered across. Room service took over 45 minutes to arrive. Overall, I liked this hotel, the room service food tasted great, friendly staff and bar service. Nice and quiet. They had a Christmas event going on during our stay and it was really cool!

Writing this while returning back home. Family of four spent 3 nights along with brother and husband in another room. At first we had rooms next to each other however they had to be moved due to issue with AC not cooling well enough. They then moved to a room that had backed up plumbing which forced them to their 3rd room during the stay. We luckily didn’t run into that issue however the stress and having to help them with the move impacted the experience. The noise was also a issue I’ve not had to deal with during prior visits. We had constant doors being slammed all night and could hear conversations from the room next to ours past 2am. Lastly the servicing wasn’t great. We requested multiple times for towels and we’re giving the run around. Ended up going down to lobby to get this sorted out. All of this doesn’t change my mind for staying here and would likely come back to give things a 2nd chance as I like the location and being a Marriott rewards member.

My husband and I stayed in a deluxe suite during our wedding and we had the absolute best time! Maria and Marcia were super attentive to all of our needs and made our special stay even more memorable with their kindness and attention to detail. This was one of the best days we’ve had in a long time. I highly recommend staying here as their staff and facilities are absolutely wonderful!

We stayed at the Westin for my nieces sweet 16 birthday. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and spacious and has many areas for lounging, grabbing a quick bite and having a delicious cocktail. The rooms were stunning, linen was so soft, and the beds were comfortable. The best part of our stay was dining at Evoq, the Westin’s restaurant. We reserved the private dining room and had the pleasure of having John as our server. He treated us like royalty and provided us with the best service of our life! The food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Out of all the hotels downtown, this is the best hotel and value for the price! Will definitely book a stay again in the near future.

We decided to take a quick getaway for the weekend last minute and stay on property 2/25. Front desk staff was very friendly and was able to upgrade room with a nicer view. Enjoy the roof top bar and the lovely views. Kudos to Carlos, with security as he was able to retrieve an item that was left behind. He had consistent communication and great customer service. Looking forward to my next trip. Thanks for your help Carlos!

The facility was well maintained, staff was AMAZING. They accommodated our needs far better than the more expensive places we've stayed. The valet service was phenomenal. Especially considering how over worked they were and how the lot was beyond full. Rooms were clean, comfortable and they even upgraded us to a balcony over looking the city and bay. We will definitely be returning next trip.

This place is top-notch! The facility is amazing, and the rooms are spacious and well kept. It seems that everything has been updated continually. Very modern and sheek! The rooftop pool and bar is awesome! This is a great place to get a room with a balcony, if you can. Either way, this is a great place to stay if you want to experience downtown Sarasota or Saint Armand's Circle. The staff is awesome! The food and service at the restaurant and from room service are very good! We live locally and stayed here for our anniversary to get away from the kids. We will be going back in the near future with friends. This place is perfect!

Juliana at checkin was amazing. So polite, kind, and sent us a bottle of wine, strawberries and chocolate and a personalized card to us. Those are the simple things that people appreciate. My wife and I were absolutely ecstatic! Room was clean, bed was amazing. Everything was even better than expected. Second time we have stayed here and experience was amazing again. I can’t say enough about how that this place and the people are. You should be proud of your hotel and I am sure you are! Will return again and again

The beds are amazing here, amenities are wonderful, so close to all different restaurants when you want to venture out, the staff is the shining star here at this property tho, I've been coming here each quarter for the past year and Maria and her co-workers are absolutely the best! I always love to be here because I know they care and are always there when I might need something! Definitely recommend! It's wonderful when you are treated like a family friend from the first moment to the last! 🙂

We have been staying at the Westin Sarasota for business on and off for the past month. Marcia has been wonderful securing our room each week. The valet team, Russ at the front desk and especially Gina in the restaurant have all been exceptional! The breakfast has been great every morning, the rooms are comfortable and they have a beautiful rooftop with fire-pits, bar, pool, etc. The location is excellent, we can walk to the downtown area with tons of restaurants and stores. Overall we have been extremely happy with the Westin.

3-5 STAR rating depending on which parts I am rating, I am a status member of Marriott and stay at Marriott and Westins often. Valet and shuttle to area 5-star, front desk 1-2 star, breakfast service 5 star, housekeeping 1 star (never came until I called 3 times). I booked for 3 adults and got one king bed and were told to sleep together on one bed because they were out of roll away beds. I rented a second room for my mom one of the nights and her room was half the price and twice as big. The pool was FREEZING, food and service at pool was 4 Star. Overall 3 star for value - expensive for what you get, front desk was incredibly disappointing.

My mom and I spent Mother’s Day weekend here and it was a fantastic experience all around! The location of the hotel itself is convenient and close to everything. Clean and spacious rooms with stunning views and the staff truly cares about your experience, we felt like VIPs! The best part of the trip was the food though. We ordered the onion soup for in room service and it was to die for. We also went to the restaurant, Evoq, and were delighted by the special Mother’s Day Brunch menu. Just wow! Everything was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The menu was so creative and the flavors were exceptional. We’d come back just for the food!

My husband and I spent a weekend in September 2022. We had a great time and love the proximity to the local restaurants. We also received complementary champagne which we enjoyed at the bar in the lobby. We accidentally left our wallet in the secure, safe and the head of security. Carlos was wonderful and extremely kind in handling the situation and making sure that our wallet was sent back to us safely in Texas. We will be visiting Sarasota in the next year and will definitely be staying at the Westin again.

The Westin is in a central location in downtown Sarasota, a short walk from both great restaurants and the Gulf of Mexico. There is no direct view of the Gulf from the balconies of the rooms, but you can see downtown, the marina and the Gulf to the side. The hotel room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Service was absolutely great, the bathroom was large enough and clean. With the balcony door closed we couldn’t hear the traffic. The hotel was very well organized, and well-staffed with security. Despite a prom party in the hotel one night, the room was completely quiet, and our sleep was not disturbed at all. A special experience is the open roof terrace with a magnificent all-around view with seating, swimming pool, and a nice bar. At the front desk, we were greeted by Maria Andersen, a front office supervisor, who really sweetened our stay with her extremely friendly and highly professional manner. She gave us a very nice room and had the best recommendations for restaurants and places to go. Her warm, ebullient personality and knowledge of the hotel & of Sarasota made us feel very welcomed and special. What we didn’t like was the $40 per night fee for valet parking. The young men who took care of dropping off and picking up the cars, were very friendly, and provided top-notch service, but the price is high. Nevertheless, we would always like to book at this Westin again.

I had a great experience at the Westin Sarasota. The property is in a prime spot in in the Bayfront/Marina areas and close to all the amenities, beaches, and dining options your heart desires. The whole area is very upscale, the rooms (especially the awesome Westin Heavenly bed) and facilities were super comfortable and beautifully decorated. The swimming pool in the top has gorgeous views of the city and ocean. Better than all the items above was the staff. A big shout-out to Kayle in the reception area, who went above and beyond to make our stay, check-in, and check-out process a great experience. Her kindness, dedication, professionalism, and beautiful smile is something I wish I experienced at every hotel I visit. Thank you so much Kayle for being an amazing person and making us feel so welcome!

A huge group of us and our kids stay every year for the 4th to hang by the pool then go watch fireworks. This year they kicked everyone out if the pool 6 hours before the fireworks, unless you bought a 100$ ticket per person. My family of 4 would've been an additional 400$! Our entire group were so upset and would never go back. It was announced via email, in fine print but with no pricing, a couple of days before. None of us saw it, and it would've been too late to change plans. The air in our room didn't work and we had no fitted sheet, only an exposed mattress pad. Half of our group left their rooms empty and booked across the street. Including one of that booked the suite. It separated our group and ruined our holiday. My 219$ room was 345$ after "fees" and 40$ parking, and we couldn't use the pool! The hotel staff didn't offer anything to help or apologize, with the exception of Russ.

In the heart of downtown Sarasota! Great place to stay if you don't want to drive to downtown. They have a nicer size pool and bar on the top floor compared to the other hotels. Nice little lounge bar in the lobby. The check-in was exceptional. It was our anniversary and the check in clerk was exceptional and even brought up strawberries and wine. The service is exceptional here. Rooms are clean but cleaning service is a hit or miss.

  • 2/5 Santos R. 9 months ago on Google
Really disappointed with this stay. The views were magnificent on the rooftop, But cleanliness is a must. Too many empty drinks and towels scattered all over the place. About the room, Beds were very comfortable. But we had to plead to get Room service or replacement towels. We were there a total of 4 days, and the maid never came once to clean our room. I called the front desk to ask if it had to be scheduled and they said no. That they will report it. Pretty bad service for the money we paid. The $40 a day Valet is a joke. A block away you can park on the Plum ave Parking deck for $23 a day. Sundays are free. We paid only $23 because Sunday and July 4th was free. That’s great timing. I will not stay again, I would definitely look at another location in the future.

This hotel is a beautiful and has nice amenities and has a great location, too, but my 5-star review is for the excellent service the young lady, Juliana, gave to us. Juliana knows what it takes to go above and beyond when the moment is needed. Extremely friendly and in my opinion topnotch. I travel quite a bit and she stands out! Thank you for making our visit wonderful! See you soon!

Very pleased with this establishment. My family and I, left awestruck with how inviting the staff and guests were, from check in to check out. Actually Sarasota as a whole was genuinely refreshing. We took advantage of the complimentary 2 hour bike rental and ventured around town. At the Westin - the rooms are modern and well kept, beds are crazy cozy, pool temp just right. Although we weren’t fond of valet only parking ($40/night), the warm attendants made it worthwhile (so much so, we wanted to tip more).

We stay in a lot of Marriotts each year, this Westin wins hands down for the best customer care. Extremely helpful and courteous staff from the moment the valet greets you to the check out process, every single employee was friendly, helpful and professional our entire stay. Huge win for that! The rooms are very nice, clean and updated with large modern showers and bathrooms and clean white linens. The location is downtown across from the marina and you can easily walk to a couple of waterfront breakfast, lunch and dinner restaurants- very nice perk. The pool is simple (not at all a tropical resort pool) but clean. There is an outdoor lounge bar on the roof next to the pool with fire pits and tables and beautiful views of the bay. Great place to unwind at the end of the day. Note- The drinks are extremely expensive on the rooftop, double what we would pay anywhere else. They offer a lot of free perks: Bikes each day for 2 hours, a free Westin shuttle to bring you to lido key and St. Armand’s circle, you’re also given cards for 2 free glasses of champagne on arrival, a great way to arrive at a hotel! There are a few options within the hotel for eating and drinking however the food in each was just ok. I would venture out for meals and rely on the hotel’s restaurants for quick bites or drinks. Westin Sarasota is very much a city hotel bordering on a business hotel more than a beach resort. For the price this modern, clean, extremely friendly and easy to get around hotel was fantastic especially with the few perks they offer to guests. I would happily stay here again.

An amazing experience. My massage and pedicure was perfect. Love all the extra enhancements I got to chose from. The pedi room was private and relaxing. The staff were extremely friendly. Had fun shopping in their small boutique and discovered new brands of skin care. Definitely will come again they always have new specials every month.

Maria was amazing! She began our little getaway the best way possible. We came to the Westin Sarasota last year but this time she was so friendly and welcoming that we will be back very soon with more friends/family. Room was very nice and food was amazing. I will be back very soon with my family. Thanks to Maria for a great service and treat over the weekend! Att: Rafael Gonzalez

My husband and I were in town for a short visit to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we checked in, the staff went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable - Marcia was especially wonderful. The rooms were spacious and clean (we had a great view). The rooftop pool/bar and on-demand shuttle service were a couple of our favorite amenities. We didn’t have a chance to check out the spa, so we’ll have to plan on that next time. Definitely recommend staying here if you’re in the area!

There is so much hype about the Westin, and this was my first time going. This review reflects my own personal experience I had there that includes everything from the staff to the hotel itself. There was a long wait for check-in, the receptionist did not tell me my total up front & when I asked, they were persistent everything will be charged the morning off. That was already a red flag to me, but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. The rooms were decent. When we were settling in for the first 30 to an hour, there was a weird noise that sounded like it came from behind the mirror in our room, it sounded like someone was behind there. I checked around it as well as the bathroom, but nothing I could find. Ever since then, I got a weird feeling and certain things were beginning to feel too uncomfortable. The first night was okay. The next morning we left before room service came around but I put the do not disturb sign outside anyways. When I came back, things were moved. We all went together and there's no way the things moved itself. My friend and I both had this experience with the bathroom and our items. Throughout the day and night, we would here these weird noises behind the mirror, random knocks would be at our door. The next day we put another sign out there, and we come back to the same thing. The morning we checked-out, someone tried coming in our room when we didn't get to the door in time. I had a lock so they couldnt open the door, but what kind of staff does that? You know how some people mention having "bad vibes", it was definitely that. When we checked out, there were fee charges of ALL kinds that they DON'T TELL YOU, even when asked. I booked a trip after that in another hotel and when I checked-in, they told me everything I was paying up front matched online and showed me and told me what I was paying for. Literally every other hotel I have been to does that, and their staff is EXCELLENT. I wanted to like Westin but truth be told I didn't feel safe in the end, and that was my main concern. I accepted the hotel total price but both of those experiences makes it even worse.
