I dined at Florida Studio Theatre's "The Green Room" last night and then attended "Ring of Fire". I ordered the much acclaimed lobster bisque followed by the coconut shrimp dish. The coconut shrimp entry was good except for the dry coleslaw. The lobster bisque would have been fine if they had served it, at all! The show honoring Johnny Cash was good, however.

It amazes me how quickly a poorly trained food staff can ruin a night at the theater! We saw The Amazing 70’s show last Friday night and it was excellent! We ordered food and although it was small portions for a large price, it was presented well and delivered promptly by a pleasant server. We payed for our meal including a healthy tip, signed the credit card ticket, and were moved to better seats immediately over the stage. During the second half of the performance we were interrupted three times with demands to pay our bill a second time. We called off the attack by presenting our copy of the receipt. After the show I sought out the server to return a ten dollar bill she had dropped and suggest to her that she wait until after the show was over to deal with such issues. My effort was met with argument. My conversation with the food manager gave me little satisfaction. She informed me that her staff was trained not to interrupt the performance! I left contact information but have not been contacted by the theater.

I loved the show but I could not beleave what the waitress did. She had a very strange name my wife said it was two first names that I have never herd of before. So we paid for our dinner it was $74.74. Ironic but I gave her a $100 dollar bill. She gave me back a five and ten singles. I almost didn't count it until I questioned where was the .26 cents. So after finding out she shorted me $10.26 I approached her and said you shorted me $10.00. Then she lifted her hand and said I forgot to give it to you. My wife watched the whole thing. So what my wife saw is when she watched me get up and head her way she pulled the 10.00 out of her pocket. I was so in shock that someone would do that I did not know what to do, the show was starting and it was great I just decided to ponder it. So after thinking about it I wanted to write this post because I don't know how many other people she stole from. So I wanted to put this out so if you do eat there please count your change. Thank You for reading

Atmosphere is fabulous! It just depends on which show you see. We’ve seen Divas3 (fabulous!). & Creedence Clearwater Reimagined (reminded us of Disney version) but we will keep watching shows and definitely be back!

We have had season tickets for 10 years. This summer our party of 6 were seated in 3 separate sections at the Goldstein Cabaret. Totally unacceptable not to be seated together as a party.

I've been a subscriber for decades. Reminiscent of off-Broadway in NYC. Fabulous plays in terms of selection, choreography, and acting. Hard to go elsewhere because after sampling many, FST remains my favorite. Only do Winter Mainstage subscription and an occasional rehearsal. Highly recommend this theatre!

Had to rate this place five stars. Been here several times and love the cabaret. Great intimate setting and performers!

The venue is fabulous, not a bad seat in the house. Little Shop of Horrors was well done and a must see! Looking forward to seeing more at FST. Jeff S North Port Florida

SURFER BOYS! this was the August 6 performance . This might have been my favorite show. we just love FST and honestly have enjoyed every performance, Service is wonderful, food is surprisingly VERY good. i recommend the Southwestern salad. they put a few fried avocado balls on the top. yummy. but getting back to this performance, the singers were unbelievable, their wonderful performance has stuck with me. each voice was as good as the other. their harmony and energy and talent was just as good as it gets. i love the beach Boys and every song they sang. what especially struck us was their encore songs which included a Les miserable song and a very lovely tribute to our servicemen and country. I was truly moved. thank you.

We have had season tickets for the Cabaret series for 6 years. All the shows up to last night have been excellent. However the Stevie Wonder presentation last night was awful at best. I'm not sure if it was so much the singers as it was the production of the show. The singers sounded like they had never preformed together before, all on a different key and could not harmonize. However the way it was produced with all the songs being a jazzed up version didn't flow at all. Avoid the Stevie Wonder show.

Wow... Wow! I don't even know what to say. I don't even know where to begin. Last night my girlfriend and I went to go see Network. We had front row seats which were absolutely incredible but that didn't really matter. The set was out of this world amazing. Now I've always loved theater but I'd never been to this theater. I've lived in Sarasota for 4 years and I was completely blown away upon walking into the theater and seeing this set. I was transformed onto the set of a network news show. I don't know who directed it or who choreographed people moving about the stage but it was so utterly beautiful like a dance in between scenes it was almost like watching a ballet on its own. The actors and actresses were beyond compared to anything I've ever seen and would literally hold their own against any stage performers across the United States. The usher, Madeline, was a joy and she explained to me a lot about the theater and their expansion plans. The seats were comfortable the theater was a comfortable temperature The sound quality was amazing. Being a partially disabled vet with hearing loss I was really thankful about that sound quality. It was jaw dropping to say the least. Whether you are a first-timer or you've been to every theater in the country and other countries this is the one you want to become a member to and support amazing theater. I will give big shout outs to Stu and Becca Boyd but the cast the crew and those unseen behind the scenes I want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you so much because it had been a long time since I had seen such a professional jaw-dropping heart pounding moving first rate production. This is the best bang for the buck on the southwest coast. Congratulations and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I look forward to each and every production in the future.

I recently attended the stage play, "Visit Joe Whitefeather (and bring the family) by Bruce Graham. I enjoyed and appreciated every moment of this play and am glad FST decided to do a story about Native Americans. I have Native Americans in my family (South Dakota) so I could relate to the story and the life experiences of the characters as well as the politics of the time. And I expressed a variety of emotions especially laughter. Finally, the cast members were terrific. Thanks to all. variety variety of emotions

while "Sheer Madeness" was one of the best in a fair amount of time, unfortunately the other side of the coin can be said about "Black Pearl"..The show itself proved to be very low level, not enough storey, not nearly enough songs and for a small group show, the singing (especially Gospel) had to really be belted out so you could feel the pain and thrive for more.....this did neither. A major disappointment. We left at intermission and we were far from alone. Whomever selected this show to come to FST must have really been off hteir game. Not nearly on par with what we've become accustmed to at FST. Sorry!

The '70s shows was very entertaining for the price. I do recommend it. The reason for the four stars only----handicap parking and theater accessibility is not for anyone that is not up for the many stairs in the theater. We had never been in the Keating Theater --- but after purchasing tickets you receive an email with a link to a seating chart of the theater (that shows all the stairs) and an additional link for parking tips. I had purchased tickets for my 93 year old mother. Thank goodness she was having a good day and she tackled the stairs like a trooper.

Went here Friday night with some friends for “FST Improv: To Die For”. We were lucky enough to get seats right by the stage and it was fun to see the action right in front of you. The cast and show were funny and they had audience participation to make it more engaging. For dinner, I had the meatloaf (“Ma! The Meatloaf!”), vegetables, and mashed potatoes and was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was. I’ll gladly be back for more shows in the future.

We have had season tickets to the 4 main stage plays for several years now. We haven't loved every play, but that said, they are all very professionally done, well cast, etc., so we do enjoy them. There are other offerings that Florida Studio Theatre has. Check out their website.

The '70s shows absolutely wonderful. I 100% recommend it. The reason for the four stars only. The meatloaf was absolutely horrible. I was stunned they didn't have prime rib. I do not recommend eating there.

We purchased our 4 tickets online to reserve our spot. The location was within walking distance from my hotel. Our server Danny was wonderful. He was able to bring our cocktails without interrupting the show. Many people were eating entrée and dessert. I was not aware of the menu, but I did arrive minutes before the show started. My friend was a judge, and I was part of the show. It was such a blast. Ms. Jasmine was my character, and I loved every minute on the stage. The show was amazing, fun, and unpredictable. Kyle, Sarah, and Kevin had me laughing all night. It was the best date night!

We took our great aunt to see Blue Suede Shoes for her 75th birthday. We sat up in the balcony and had a spectacular view of the band. The theater is beautiful and the staff were super friendly.

I took my daughter to see Peter Pan and it was very well done. Altho I think the theater could use some updating, it smelled musty. But the seats were comfortable and the stage area looked very nice.

We have been to FST cabaret many times. We love it. However, this week’s Rock &Roll Reignited was a repetiotion of many songs from other shows….dissapointing. Worse were the guests next to us….so noisy, maybe drunk? ….an old couple. Moved on a bench close to us, not minding any privacy or personal space.

Staff is terrific. Shows are wonderful. Plays are diverse from comedies to dramas. Musical shows are fun and entertaining. We are members and ticket prices are so reasonable. Not a bad seat in any of the many theaters.
