Such a cool experience and we had a brilliant guide. There is a little parking lot about 100m further down the road. You can buy tickets without needing to book in advance. There will be a waiting time as you need a guide to show you through the caves, but we filled this gap by taking the kids for an ice cream across the road. Definitely bring a hoodie, even if it’s a hot day, because the temperature is much cooler down in the caves. They even do Theater pieces, which we didn’t personally see, but there was a rehearsal on as we walked through, and we wouldn’t mind going to watch something as a family! No photos allowed unfortunately. We also really recommend a stroll through the town of Werningerode, and a walk up to the castle.

We went on a Friday in March. Number of tourists is down so we quickly managed to buy tickets - if you are staying for a few days you might have the 'Kurkarte' the tourist ticket and you ll get a discount. Filming and pictures are not allowed for various reasons one being the high risk for injuries. There is ample parking outside but no toilets at the cave however right across from the entrance for 50cents.The cave holds up to nine different types of bats - and there is a great bear skeleton as well. Tour takes 50mins. Bring sturdy shoes and a good jacket.

Very much enjoyed the cave tour. Lucky we speak German. The guide was very funny and engaging. The ticket buying process takes you back to the 1960s. Big lines in a massively crowded hall, one lady selling tickets. Limited online options. When we rang they said to just come by as you can only buy one at a time online. To not have online options, when you’re booking for a particular time slot, is ludicrous in 2022. Even the ticket price sign appears to date to 1964 😂 Still worth it though.

Nice place to visit if in the region or as a day trip from Berlin in combination with other places nearby. The tour takes about an hour and the explanation is short and simple. Knocked one star because they turn off the lights behind you as the tour progresses and we don't get a second chance to admire the caves.

Just so good. Was with my 3yo and it rocked. Great guide! She told us many interesting things and facts and the cave itself is worth seeing - rich history!

Great experience visiting the big cave systems. Our guide was very passionate and eager to make the tour as best as possible. Remember to bring a jacket if you do decide to come. Definitely recommendable.

I found out about this cave by coincidence, and I'm glad I did. You need to take the guided tour as this is the only option, but it's understandable since you can get lost or injured in the caves. The tour was very informative, explaining the history about the cave's formation and history and how were the rock structures formed. There is an area inside with a really cool sound and light experience which I really enjoyed. The tour guide was very friendly, especially with the kids. My only comment would be that you are not allowed to take pictures inside, and their reason is you might harm yourself or bump your head in a rock because you will be distracted, I found this to be just an excuse, and there were a lot of sections with very high ceiling. Other than in that, fantastic experience

If you don’t speak German then it is better to find another place to visit… otherwise just like us, feeling bored and cold and wish the trip to end faster when others are laughing.

I’ve seen many caves around the world. The point that they don't let you take pictures is unacceptable. They are also talking about preserving and protecting the cave but the amount of construction and tunneling they have done for the business does not comply with this statement.

Besuch zwingend erforderlich, Lohnenswert. Alles in allem sehr Lohnenswert.

I would surely give it 5 stars if I spoke German. I thought I had bought tickets without the guide but you can not go in the cave without being part of the tour that is in German. It was cool but they should have someone that just takes you through the cave and not giving a tour, if they can't have a separate tour in English. So this is really just for people who speak German.

It’s interesting cave for visiting. It’s a long and not hard way inside. But without excursion(all only in German) you couldn’t fully understand how this stalactites was created and all value of them. And also you aren’t allowed to take any photos and videos without explanation.

If you are German and this is your first visit to a cave, then you cannot go wrong. For (international) visitors that have been to multiple caves however, a visit to the Baumannshöle adds nothing of value.

The guided tour is in german only and very crowded. The guide himself was nice but had to repear himself many times in order to tell the entire group about the caves.

Exciting place. However, if you select English as the language of the guided tour will get disappointed. The guides can't and won't speak other languages than German. And the administration won't fix the web selling of services, which doesn't exist.

An interesting visit through the chalk stone mountain and into the the cave bear's cavern. Unfortunately the tour is only in German, so you'll need a proficient German speaker to get all the details. Photography is prohibited in the caves 🤷

Nice to visit but a real pity that you can't take pictures. The argument of safety does not make any sense in the caves that are very high. I won't be able to tumble on any stalagtites over there nor will I crush my head.... Extremely weird argument of the guide who was probably the unfortunate messenger of weird news🤢🤢🤢
