Got chicken kothu parota and parota with kurma here…!!! amazing flavours… full justice.. nominal pricing… The taste was very south indian.. it was a saturday so chicken kothu was just 3.99$ the lady at the counter was sweet she gave sweet pongal for free as it was a festival. definitely coming back here.. feels like home food.

Enjoyed the food. It’s a Tamil (Thanjavur) based cooking style on few items and rest is Madurai style. The price is nominal, the taste is just like what we experience in Southern part of India. Food was delivered quickly. For people who hate Spicy food, you might have to mention it upfront. There is a small seating area as well for dine-in. Recommended: Kothu Parotta Chicken Chukka Ghee parotta Chicken Biryani

I personally feel that the GTA lacks authentic South Indian eateries that offers South Indian cuisine at value for money prices. The closest we get is Sri Lankan cuisine or gentrified restaurants serving food at somewhat ridiculous prices. I was more than happy that I managed to chance upon Atchayam in the area, a family run restaurant. As someone who grew up in Singapore where there is a significant presence of South Indian food in our local food scene, I can confirm that they are doing justice to the cuisine here without any gentrifications. The fish thaali comes with a portion of fish curry with rice + generous portions of fresh fish (flesh easily falls off the bone) + a side of spiced potato + payasam (sweet dish) + pappadum + rasam. The flavourful fish curry reminded me of the homemade fish curries that I would get back home in Singapore. My buddy who accompanied me got the ghee parrotta with a side of egg Masala. To any Singaporeans/Malaysians reading this, the parotta here is extremely similar to the Roti Prata/Roti Canai that we get back at home. They come in crispy layered and they’re paired very well with many of the curries offered in the menu here. Their homemade masala tea complements the food very well as a way to “wash down” your meal. It is obvious that the lovely family running this business are very passionate about the food that they are serving the community here. With delicious food, very hospitable and friendly owners and extremely value for money prices, I already see myself returning to Atchayam regularly. It’s a pity that I do not live nearby them. My best wishes to the family in this new business venture.

Go here for authentic Tamil food, the South Indian type from interior Tamil Nadu. Stand outs - parotta, chicken korma, mutton sukka. I'm glad they're not located in Mississauga, as I'll otherwise be eating there everyday. Don't expect quick service or look forward to great ambiance - you're going here for a "Ponnusami" or other restaurant experience like those from Madras that feed you and feed you well. For people unawares on what to order, stick to parotta (think of a better tasting lacha paratha) and the 3 optional gravies (veg, chicken or chicken Chettinad). The taste rivals to what I've eaten back home. A high recommendation for easily the best parotta, chicken korma reminiscent of authentic tasting foods from Madurai / Thanjavur etc.

Was a bit hesitant to try out this restaurant as I wasn’t impressed with the already existing photos. However we tried this restaurant for lunch as we were nearby that area. We ordered lunch and chicken 65 Biriyani. The good thing about the lunch was the puli kulambu and poriyal items tasted exactly like back home. However the other items like sambar and rasam with the lunch were mediocre. The chicken 65 Biriyani was like the worst tomato rice with chicken pieces. The Biriyani rice were chunky and huge. The chicken 65 Biriyani spoiled my appetite and I regretted hugely for having tried it. We also had tea and it was mediocre too. However their vada was awesome though they were smaller. May be this restaurant is not good for rice dishes. Anyway, it will be hard to convince me back to this restaurant after having food that spoilt my taste buds.

Small yet good place for a quick south Indian food bite. They have decent variety of all the famous south cuisine. It's self service cafe. Atmosphere is very family type. But food is good. For swift hunger pangs, it's a good deal.

I you love authentic Tamil food this place is for you. I love their party, chicken 65 and dosa, and good to really cheap in this economy. But I would recommend to do take out only. The only issue I have is that they don't take care of the cleanliness much.

We tried their masala dosa, it wasn't crispy as expected but taste was good. We also ordered chicken thali and quantity was great. Chicken curry tasted pretty good and we loved the chicken 65 pieces. The onion pakoras were excellent and the lentil fritters were crispy. The masala tea was pretty good too. The restaurant has small but adequate number of seating. I enjoyed talking with the guy at the cashier. Really funny and welcoming. Keep it up guys.
