Terrible burgers, greasy, the patties are not homemade, they are textured meat frozen in a box, the bacon floppy undercooked not any crisp, the bun a terrible and flat flavorless, pretty much the most disgusting slimy. The fries warm and mushy again zip in the crisp department the absolute cheapest ingredients. Saw so many positive reviews I imagine just nostalgia for the original owners a couple generations ago, don't let the long line fool you, total waste of time and money. Edit, I am not sure why this place has so many 5 star reviews feels like they shop out reviews via some social media company. Could it be that so many do not understand what quality homemade food tastes and looks like, just look at my pics, disgusting...

It’s been about 25 years since I have visited Johnnys Burgers and this place is still jamming! Cash only and be sure to be ready when you place your order! I see that the owners son has grown and taking over the family business. Reminds me of his old man when placing orders, too funny and great customer experience if you know how it’s goes in there, makes me laugh and brings back great memories coming here. Great atmosphere and remember to pay attention to your number when they call. Some customers get snippy if you hold up the line of your not there to order. The prices are amazing for the amount of food you get for fast food style and no wonder they are busy! It was great passing through and brings back nostalgia for sure. Back to the country I go and glad I was passing through. Good job guys!

One of the cheapest good quality burger joints around. The price had already been increased many many times but it's still way more affordable than the mainstream fastfood joints around. However, the key point is that the patty is very nicely prepared, charred and still juicy. The fries are fried on the spot with the extremely high turnover so even when we were there, the fries were just fried and the burgers hot. The milkshake is a tad sweet but it balances out the taste of the meal. I thought that I might have to order 2 burgers for 2 persons but in the end, 1 burger was more than enough. Do note that you get to choose the toppings on your patty and they spread the sauces evenly throughout the patty and the toppings were enough to cover the patty so you get them on every bite. From what I read, they are a very very old joint and the taste had not changed over the years so kudos to them for keeping the burgers as good as they were. Do note that they were cash only as of the time I was there. P.S. if you have a sweet tooth, definitely order the shake!

Johnny's Hamburgers dates back to 1967 as one of the godfather burger joints in the city. It stays open very late to cater for those who partied late and have the quest of the perfect burger. Sort of like the Harold & Kumar go to White Castle movie. Many of the staff had and still have heavy accents and are bossy to control disorderly customers. Like the funny SNL, John Belushi's Olympia restaurant's Cheezburgah no coke pepsi skit. Or the more modern Seinfeld's Soup dinner skit where the cook ordered people to the back-of-the-line if the didn't properly follow instructions. I recently tried Johnny's and was glad to find that their cheeseburgers, chips and shakes all tasted like they did in my memory. The experience was even better when I was ordered by a heavily familiar accent to stand on floor dot number 3 to maintain social distancing and my serving order. Going to Johnny's may no longer be the best burger joint for the taste of their food, but the nostalgic feeling and experience makes the restaurant a part of urban Toronto culture that should never be taken away by modern development. If you like my reviews, photos or video order a cheezburgah, coke no pepsi and chips no fries and press the thumbs up button, next!

Had a real old school feel. Burger was simple but juicy, the bun was nicely toasted and felt like a nice burger grilled in the backyard bbq. Fries and onion rings were sooo good, both very crispy and salted, just right. Decor has the old school feel but not that clean and no seating. Service was a bit rough but very fast and efficient.

If you want to go to an old style burger shop where they cook burgers on charcoal then go to Johnny's there are Toronto staple and have been there for over 60 years. Just remember no debit card as they do have a machine on site bring cash. My meal was 11 bucks and well worth it. The banquet Burger was good and the fries were good good experience overall.

Fantastic burgers for great price! Been going here for many years and though the prices have gone up, it’s still relatively cheap for the quality you’re getting. The place hasn’t changed for many decades as I understand. I love the retro style of the place. There are no seatings inside as it’s a grab-and-go joint, but there are outdoor tables at the back. Free parking in the plaza also.

Best burgers for the best price! I’ve gone here for years and will continue to come here on a regular basis! Great service (note- they only accept cash)

Nothing fancy or extra ordinary. But kind of scarborough thing which last for more than 50years. CASH ONLY. They have a ATM machine inside just in case.

This place is a scarborough CLASSIC. One of the strongest burgers, almost on the same level as the whopper. The only thing holding it back is the fact that the toppings are not equally distributed throughout and are mostly concentrated at the center of the sandwich.

Food was great. Ordered cheeseburger, fries and gravy. Just didn't like the fact that people behind us were not digital distancing in the line, and they were smoking as well and the same person had his mask off inside the counter area the whole time while he was waiting for his food I can tell that customer was a regular because he was having a conversation about cashier's family. Surprised cashier or no other worker told him to make up. Highly disappointed about that.

These burgers are alright. Nothing about it really stands out to be honest. The beef patty is frozen and processed. Its very close to the Harvey’s beef patty. Fries are pretty standard as well. The price is decent and the staff is pretty cool. I come here once or twice a year. Even though its not that great, there is something about this place that keeps me coming back. Nostalgia maybe.

This is exactly why I always order my gravy on the side. Despite ordering the gravy on the siide you guys still dumped the gravy on the fries. When someone orders gravy ON THE SIDE it does not mean to dump it on the fries as well.

The outside of this restaurant caught my eye, it looks like a very old style burger joint and theyve definately kept up that experience indoors as well. Walking in, the cashier was very friendly and told a bunch of jokes as we were ordering. I got the double cheese fries and onion rings which were all very cheap. The menu said they barely increased their prices for the past 40 years which would be believable! There is no seating indoors so you have to grab and go aside from eating on their one patio table outside. The fries were quite stale and the burger seemed too salty, likely from frozen considering the flaky meat texture but for the price, seems fairly appropriate. Overall a fair and humble meal.

I've been eating at Johnny's since I was a kid in the 70's and I was so disappointed to see the recent changes to the food at the restaurant. Burgers are obviously smaller and more cheaply made. Although the price is still low, the burgers and even the fries have been substituted for cheaper, less tasty fast food. Despite Johnny's having immense sentimental value to many from my generation, I will have to take a pass and look for another reasonably priced late night alternative. The younger generation that have taken over the business have certainly made poor choices when it comes to the quality of the food they are offering. Thumbs down 👎👎👎 James Watt

Husband and I finally got to check this place out and boy were we glad! We understand why this joint is standing strong after so many years! Usually this place is crowded but we got lucky on our visit as there were only a handful of people lined up. We both ordered the cheeseburger with fries - cost was just under $15! Burger was delicious and tasted fresh. Portion is large so definitely getting your money’s worth! Fries were great too! Tasted good and fresh as well. Overall would definitely recommend! We’re definitely going to be back at some point!

100% would recommend to anyone in Canada. The burger patty tasted amazing, the ingredients were fresh, and pretty good prices. The coke tasted slightly like tap water though. The wait is worth it for the food and the staff were nice.

After watching my friend's ice hockey game, we dropped by this restaurant. A founder's picture displayed in the restaurant, giving me a notion that they are being proud service their food for long with good reputations. I got a steak on a kaiser (the kaiser bun was not heavy; so, you would enjoy it, eventhoughyou are on your diet). The staff were kind the food was delicious. The only thing I would like to share is that it is a Take Out Only Restaurant. In the summer, you can sit on a picnic bench right by the parking lot, lol.

Visited Johnny’s Hamburgers for the first time because my boyfriend recommended it and it did not disappoint. My boyfriend and I ordered two cheeseburgers and one poutine, and you can definitely taste the quality of their food. I like to consider myself a poutine connoisseur and the poutine served at this location was perfect (we devoured it before I could snap a pic). From the quality of fries to the cheese curds and gravy, everything was 👌🏼👌🏼. 100% recommend to family and friends. Big shout out to Louis as well for being so friendly and making my first time here so memorable. The atmosphere here is so welcoming. Definitely coming back for more 🥰

CASH ONLY!! Very quick and very affordable service. The burgers are cheap as. But don't expect anything amazing. It litarelly tastes like the ones you can buy at a grocery store or a cookout. Just giving the 4 stars because it is insanely cheap for the burgers

Passed by this place multiple times over the years but finally gave it a try, summarize they were affordable , cooked to order, and good old fashioned burgers. I just got their cheese burger and fries, for a 4oz patty it feels much more substantial than say a McD quarter pounder and heftier. I would say it’s even bigger than Burger King whoppers. The buns were even toasted too. It’s no fancy burgers with fancy toppings you see downtown, but what they do with the classic burger they do it well. Can’t think of any complaints. I guess if you are a lettuce person, just know they don’t have lettuce as a topping . But you get to choose other toppings to go on to your liking, I just went with carmelized onions, tomato and pickles . The fries were pretty standard too, could tasted they were freshly fried too. 10/10 if you craving for classic burger at a pretty cheap price but high quality

Johnny’s is one of the last remaining fantastic ‘greasy spoon’ burger joints in the city, and I describe that way in a very complimentary way. Many regulars like me have gone there for decades. There’s no indoor seating or anything, and is still cash-only, but that just adds to the character of the place. Only thing green there is relish, so grab a banquet-on-a-Kaiser with fries and load it up with your faves - just not lettuce. LOL.

I used to eat here after every friday night hockey game **35 years ago**. I went back, after 35 years and nothing has changed, just the staff. It is still the greatest value for your $ A throw back to the glorious magic of the 1980's. 💯💥

Finally had the opportunity to eat from this Scarborough staple. Affordable, respectful and nice staff. Quick service. A minor issue was that the soft serve shake wasn’t very creamy, little too icy. Also, gloves would be good when building burgers. Great spot.

Wowww, best bang for your buck burger joint ever. I’ve been hearing a lot about this place since I’ve moved here and finally tried it and it was worth the hype. The burger is old school but the poutine is the best thing ever. For a combo, it costs less than $10. The staff is super friendly and work fast. No space to eat but there are some picnic tables outside if the weather is warm.

*CASH ONLY!! No debit or credit available, it's a local business. Great burger place with a good reputation in the neighborhood. They do a great burger tthick large patty & fresh bun. You have options like cheese and bacon, they also have poutine, fish & chips ($15?) etc. The price is very reasonable for a regular burger $6 +tax you can customize the toppings to your liking with condiments & veggies (cooked onions 🍅 lettuce). The staff are super friendly & helpful, the menu is on the wall & you are given a number for your order pick up. Be forewarned they do have line ups regularly, it might be 5-10 minute wait. These burgers are made fresh, nothing sitting around. The fries are crispy & not too oily. Lots of parking around the building, only issue is exiting gets complicated. It's near the intersections of Victoria park & Shepard so you can only go north in VP or through the Shoppers Drug Mart lot & go east on Sheppard, as you're not allowed to take a left turn. You can park in the stripe mall next door for more options. There are many fast food places if you want dessert like the Greek café or a special drink from starbucks.

This mom and pop burger joint is awesome! Everything they make is cooked to order, quick and delicious. You choose your burger toppings, everything is fresh and those fries....well perfect is what I think! I've been taking out burgers for 50 years! I hope they never close.

  • 4/5 Glen W. 7 months ago on Google
The cheapest burger spot around. Cash only. They use pretty standard McCormack patties. They cost like $0.50 at Costco. Everything just OK, but gets a 4 star rating because it’s really cheap. Always busy too, so they must do something right.

  • 5/5 Matt E. 3 months ago on Google New
I love that it's cash only!! The prices are very reasonable. It's a cool place. The burgers and fries taste great. The staff are friendly and fast. Service is like it used to be way back when businesses cared about their customers. If you haven't had a Johnny's Burger, you have to try one. And DON'T BUY FROM CASHLESS COMPANY'S. If they don't give you a cash option, they're not worth keeping in business.

I always call this the best value burger in town. Good size with a nice grilled taste in their beef patties. Awesome classic milk shakes. Overall very satisfying for the price you pay.

Had the lunch special. Fries with gravy on top and the onion rings were fresh and tasty. Burger was alright and juicy as well. The fries and gravy were the top stars. A really nice takeaway shop which is a staple in Scarborough for decades.

This place is ionic and I am blessed to have been eating their burgers since the 80's. Of course some things have changed like they have Poutine and the pickles are a different shape but the taste is still charcoal flame grilled and delicious. The staff and owners are truly the best in the business. I crave their cheeseburgers and poutine at least once a month and it's worth the trip.

Double cheeseburger 🙆🏻‍♀️(huge portion giving the price. Love the bun. Is the patty all meat? Feel so different from regular patty. More stuffy? Love the toppings. Overall fulfilling

  • 5/5 Eric H. 9 months ago on Google
Great basic burger. No thrills, just what you would expect. This is exclusively for takeout. There is a bench table outside if you would like to sit down. Most it by their cars. Service is great than courteous and also fast. Note that it's very popular so expect a lineup at peak times.

  • 4/5 Alejandro E. 11 months ago on Google
Cash only!! Burgers are good but I will recommend the steak in a kaiser. In general it is really good for the price.

  • 5/5 Chao H. 10 months ago on Google
Recommended. Probably one of the best burgers in Scarborough. Ordered for take outs. Great cheese burgers with reasonable price. The beef burgers’ Taste is comparable to Hero Burger and Priest Burger. Easily beat the McDonald’s, Burger King and A&W. On the other hand, Poutine is just okay. Will try Fries next time. Staff are very nice, although wait-line is quite long during dinner hours. Will definitely revisit!

  • 4/5 Guido C. 1 year ago on Google
Perfect onion rings with great flavour and crispiness. Poutine was excellent. But cheeseburger was very average. Looks squished and the bun is too big for the meat. I wouldn't get it again. There are better burgers elsewhere. But I would come back for the onion rings and poutine.

This place is the real deal. Amazing burgers, fries and shakes. It has a “soup nazi” vibe with order numbers written on post-its, but is required given the popularity. Be sure to ask for seasoning on your fries. The chocolate shake is great. 10/10 recommend.

  • 5/5 C C. 2 years ago on Google
The menu has been the same for years, my favourite has got to be the fries with gravy.. brings back memories! Lineups can sometimes be long but it moves quickly.

Decades old and the experience hasn't changed nor does it need to. Family ownership remains the same. Great food and nostalgia. One of Toronto's best and famous burger stops.
