Visited Local Cafe and Restaurant for lunch today. The last time was pre-COVID. A very enjoyable meal - food was excellent, presentation was perfect, and service was impeccable. I can really tell that the food was prepared with a lot of passion. Will definitely be visiting more often from now on. Just a reminder that complimentary parking is no longer being offered, but that would not be a deterrent for my future visits. A shout out to the students who made the experience so delightful.

Food was excellent, and really value for money compared to many of the big name restaurants these days. Great ambience as well. Got to taste their new dessert menu, delicious. Took off 1 star as serving staff seemed a little green and inexperienced at handling large number of patrons at the same time without compromising quality of service, though they definitely tried their best to be friendly, welcoming and attentive.

What a terrific brunch experience today at this school of hospitality! An excellent assortment of main course items, sides and dessert. Saturday and Sunday brunch is $18.00 which includes tea or coffee. Other drinks are an additional cost. Taxes are added to your bill but No Tipping. Hospitality students are the chefs and servers while program teaching staff are supervisors. These graduates will fan out into the world after their graduation. This is must try place. Service is great; remember that theyโ€™re learning the business! Paid parking is available on campus.

What an amazing experience during The Local's opening week post pandemic. The service was fantastic and the food was on par with, if not better than some of the finest restaurants across the GTA that I've visited. The operations are run by students, so it is a fantastic learning experience for them. Give yourself some extra time, enjoy the ambiance, sit back, and relax. I was thoroughly impressed with all aspects of the experience, and the price for the quality you receive is definitely a competing factor across all other dining experiences you have access to. I plan on being here weekly ๐Ÿ‘Œ

The food was made with a lot of passion and was very tasty. The service was not professional, but it is ok, they are just learning. 5 stars. Will be back!

Fantastic experience, food, and ambiance! Highly recommend ๐Ÿ‘Œ beef short ribs, Thai mango salad, ginger peach moxtail, Herb infused focaccia, and citrus cheesecake with meringue - all highly recommend. Menu does change up to 3 times per semester so make sure to try it out before it's gone!

Fantastic value. I paid CA$17 for a pizza that could've fed 2 people and a veritable *bucket* of fries. You also don't tip, because it's a learning facility. This to know: - The menu is rather small. It's ~5 main courses, 5 "snacks", 5 desserts, and around 10 drinks or so, and there aren't really options for stuff like your fries' dipping sauce. However, I hear it changes regularly, and it was delicious. I didn't even know I liked sweet chili dipping sauce until now. - As stated before, most of the staff are learning. They accidentally came with the bill twice, but it was resolved in literally under a minute. Overall, staff were great. The food was not the mind shattering stuff you'll get at places like Richmond Station restaurant, but that also costs like CA$80+ per person. For CA$20<, this is some of the best food I've ever eaten. It was also really quick, too. Seriously, if you're near this place, try it.

Hidden gem in Scarborough! Go support students' learning at The Local Cafe - they offer a variety of takeout items, made daily by the students! Most of their baked goods are only $2 each! Prepared sandwiches $7, salads, frozen pizzas, lasagnas and tv dinners available also!

My go to for after class snacks!! I regularly come here to try new snacks, food and drinks whenever Iโ€™m feeling a little hungry after a long day of class! The staff are very friendly and are always helpful in recommending their best items!

I came here for brunch on Sunday at 12:30 and was informed I'd have to wait 20 minutes. No biggie, except I saw from the window that there were a couple of unoccupied tables which nobody was clearing. After waiting 10 minutes, I asked the server if they were free, and thankfully they started clearing the tables. The server showed me towards me a 4 person table at the entrance (I came alone and it felt like the hostess was staring at me the whole time, a bit awkward) and I asked to have a smaller table near the back, but he refused, citing that they were understaffed. I was confused because the person right behind me was seated at the table in the back. Huh? Not a great start. Then when I asked for my food, it took a while to get it. I ordered a tea but was given only hot water and had to ask for the tea later. The food was on average 3 stars. The chicken and waffles were pretty good! Waffles were a bit bland (certainly not belgian waffles) but the chicken, maple butter, and slaw were delicious! Not dry at all. However, the pastries left something to be desired. The croissants and danishes were very dense and hard without any buttery flavour, and the desserts were very sugary, but otherwise the flavors didn't mesh very well. The paris-brest did not have an authentic taste and for some reason had coconut and macademia (maybe this was a spin on a paris-brest), and the tiramisu had chocolate in it. I also wasn't a fan of the st. honore (filling was a bit weird). I felt really bad because everything was presented beautifully. Honestly the service is to be expected because everyone is a student. I would definitely come again for the food considering the price point-just not for brunch.

This is definitely one of Scarborough's hidden gems. I went for the first time tonight and had a great experience. The food was delicious and cooked well. The service was also very good. Our server was attentive and came back to check up on us at key moments throughout the meal. The value for money is incredible as well. You can get a main, side, and dessert for about $20 (before tax and tip). There is nothing else in Scarborough that can deliver this level of food, service, and value in my opinion (in a sit-down meal setting). Moreover, you can leave this restaurant knowing you've contributed towards the education of students in the hospitality industry. It is important to note the limited hours of the restaurant and that parking costs $6 (flat rate) after 5:30pm. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

Their lunch menu is delicious and the students have really done an amazing job of delivering on the taste since my initial visit. Definitely a great place to grab lunch in the area. Main, Side and Dessert all included in price.

This restaurant seems to be one training place from the centennial college. You can see the cooking and the beverage classroom in the building. Itโ€™s very surprising for the tasty food they offer and the clean environment they have. My friend and I had cod and shot ribs. The food was very delicately cooked, designed, plated with stunning friendly price โ€” 18$ for three courses. Personally speaking, I feel like it could be the best restaurant in Scarbrough at similar price range. This is a very nice place to support local community. Beautiful but yet in complete, the student server is really friendly but still need more some profession. Hope more people can come to check out this place as I feels this restaurant is more in a educational meaning than simply hoping just to earn your money.

We did take out and it was excellent. We ordered the chicken pasta and it came with one side and a dessert. The food was amazing with lots of flavour and yummy goodness. Will return no doubt.

Reasonable portion size and pricing. However, students need more training. Which side to serve from? My drink should be on my table before my food arrives. Asked when their last seating was. Server had to find help just to answer that question. Better training.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Not only are the food and drinks amazing, it is well priced for the portions. The staff also went above and beyond with our 14 month old son. All of the staff (including the kitchen staff) all stopped to try and play with our son and make his meal that much better! He was laughing almost the whole time, I think even Disneyland staff would have problems competing. Next time I'm in town I will make sure to drop by for another wonderful dinner!

I had my lunch this afternoon, restaurant is neat and tidy. Very impressed with the food service, food quality, and the most impressed me is the Le Creuset and the flatware they use. That is 5 stars hotel quality. The server Isabella is very friendly and polite, I saw her hand writing when she wrote our orders, her hand writing is like printing. The mussels today is delicious, and none empty shell. My salmon is just well cooked with crispy pan fried skin. I will definitely go again and try their brisket. Before I walked out the restaurant, I also bought an apple pie from the pastry corner. A very enjoyable meal and a great place for friends gathering. Thank you for the chefs and the students.

A great place for formal and casual meet-ups. Great service and great food. Just wish their hours were a little longer so I could drop by and have a late dinner when I'm in the area.

All local customer came here known that the service is done by hospitality student of Centennial College. I support this restaurant because they are using local and seasonal products, ingredients. As you can see, the all you can eat menu is updated every week depends on local vegetables and food what they got. Therefore, in my view they have creative, diversified menu and culture food. The drink is amazing also, mixed by student, really fancy and good taste. The customer service is made by real student so somtimes they are having accent cause they are international student. It made me confused a little bit. By the end, the manager store always came to every table and asked questions about reviews. He always made customers satisfied and happy cause heโ€™s a funny guy ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ So, if you wanna try different food from many countries over the world and you support local products, Local Cafe and Restaurant is the best choice. For me, I often come here like once or twice every 2 months to meet student๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿปโ™ฅ๏ธ

very good price and very good lunch, also very good service.

Admittedly it wasn't bad. It seems to be a training facility so it's a bit cluttered with students learning their craft. Overall the service was friendly and the food was great. I had brunch and thoroughly enjoyed the salmon; it was very tasty.

I call this outstanding place every couple of days because I enjoy the good mood that is unique to this place. The personel is awfuly welcoming and professional. The service is pretty quick. Not to mention, the food you eat is first-rate. I have been there more than once and I was always delighted. The expense is fair. I suggest this restaurant to my friends and family.
