Stopped in to pick up lunch for 5. 2 chicken sandwiches, 1 veal sandwich, 1 pizza, rice balls and a few other items plus cannolis. Was busy at the time of our visit but staff were quick to serve and very friendly. All items were fresh and very tasty. If you havent tried this place I would highly recommend. Prices are very reasonable for what you get.

You are gonna have to be prepared to not just get 1 item but extras to go because everything is so tasty and you’ll want more. Staff is very friendly and helpful even during the busiest hours. Ice coffee is super rich and full of flavour, not iced down or overly sweet, it’s well balanced and creamy.

This was a random Google search and man were we happy to find this spot! It’s full of surprises! Serving pastries to fresh bakery to fresh Italian food to fresh breakfast items and coffee. It’s a small grocery stop too. Had their pistachio and chocolate croissants, my goodness, we could get addicted to those! Their blueberry scone, ricotta & chocolate Danish and plain croissants were also worth having. Very fast and efficient service but some seating as well! Parking could be a bit of a hassle if it’s crowded but I can’t wait to go there again!

Great spot for inexpensive take out. Have been here a few times and food and drinks are always delicious, and very fairly portioned for what it is priced. There are also some tables available if you want to sit down. Since it is always busy, it can be a bit overwhelming especially if you are here for the first time. Recommendation is to walk up closer to the section for the food you want, and someone will eventually help you.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience coming here. Staff were extremely friendly, and everything looked so delicious. I went there and got an espresso and a few pastries to bring to an event. They have a wide variety of savoury and sweet items. They also have pre-made sandwiches that are to die for!!!! Also their hours are amazing! Love a bakery that is open early. I will definitely visit again :)

This is a lovely bakery that offers a great variety of pastries, cookies, breads and more. The service is friendly and the quality is good. It's usually quite busy, but worth any wait. The picture is a small sampling of their cookies. They are all so good.

This is one of our go-to bakeries. They have good cakes and their prices are reasonable, try their tiramisu (so good!) and nicely made with a chocolate cup design. Their pastries are amazing as well as their sandwiches. They have hot food on a daily basis and everything is made fresh. From veal or chicken sandwich, to pasta, potatoes and all. You can either pick from their ready-made sandwiches (some are priced around $7 or $15 depending on what you want, plus taxes of course) or order something else that you want and they can make it for you. Their cheese rice balls are very filling. Their croissants melt in your mouth, pair it with a hot latte or cappuccino if you want. I so love their coffee, not too bland, not too strong. They also sell gelatos but I haven't tried them. During the Christmas season, they have various packed goods to bring to families or friends or even for work. If you're looking for noodles or pasta sauces or simply cookies or chocolates, they also sell them. Morning is the best time to go since you still get to choose from a wide variety as opposed to coming in around lunch where it's packed and some food is gone already. The staff are amazing, the place is clean and well organized. You can eat there if you want too, they have some tables and chairs. Enough parking (except during Christmas seasons). Will keep coming back for sure.

I live in North York but I go all the way to Scarborough just for these guys , they are pretty good and quality is great . Enjoy some pasta, meals, empanadas, breads , pastry , imported products, good coffee, reasonable prices . The parking lot is a bit small cause they have so many customers but everybody leaves soon thanks to their fast and hard working staff .

For the past 2 years, I've been consistently ordering from Francesca for birthdays and special occasions. They're on the salty side with a light cream filling in between the cake part on the inside. Presentation wise, I think there could be some improvements, but I'm not really hung up on it since none of the cakes I ordered were custom. Overall, for what I paid, I'm pretty happy with the outcome, and I'm sure to return in the future.

Following up on my previous glowing review (@Chancellor_K) of Francesca Italian Bakery, I am thrilled to share my experience with the Italian Rum Cake we chose for my brother's birthday. The cake was an absolute masterpiece, both in flavour and decoration. Each layer of the cake was a perfect blend of moist, spongy texture, infused with just the right amount of rum to tantalize the taste buds without overpowering. The cream filling was light and airy, providing a delightful contrast to the rich flavour of the cake. The decoration of the cake was a work of art. It was evident that the bakery pays great attention to detail, with elegant designs that matched the joyous occasion. The presentation was impeccable, making the cake not just a dessert, but a centerpiece of the celebration. Upon visiting Francesca Italian Bakery to pick up the cake, I was immersed in a world of authentic Italian foods and pastries. The variety and quality of their offerings were exceptional. From fresh bread to a variety of pastries, each item showcased the culinary excellence that Francesca Italian Bakery prides itself on. It was like a slice of Italy right in the heart of Scarborough! Moreover, the diversity of the employees at the bakery added to the authenticity and warmth of the experience. It was heartening to see a team that not only represented the rich Italian culture but also the diversity of the community. This inclusiveness speaks volumes about the bakery’s values and its commitment to celebrating cultural heritage while embracing the local community. Francesca Italian Bakery is more than just a bakery; it's an experience. From the exceptional customer service by Maria Lopez to the delectable Italian Rum Cake and the diverse range of authentic Italian delicacies, every aspect of this place is impressive. Their commitment to quality, authenticity, and community representation is truly commendable. I am already looking forward to my next visit and would highly recommend this bakery to anyone seeking a genuine Italian culinary experience. Thank you, Maria Lopez and Francesca Italian Bakery, for making our celebration not just memorable, but absolutely extraordinary!

I love their pastries but weekday service is just terrible. The elder ladies at the front are super unfriendly… I asked for latte no sugar but I got it with sugar. When I called back to tell them they said it’s my problem. Speechless. 5 star for food, 1 star for service … Weekend service way better with the younger servers. After eating their beef rice ball… I take back my food review. I found something that’s like wood/ straw inside my food. Couldn’t even swallow it….

Thank you to all the helpful associates. The suggested treats are well received by my family and friends. Sandwiches individual cakes, pastries have all been delightful. Francesca has never disappointed.

Daily fresh bread, cakes and coffee. We got a tiramisu cake and it was just really nice with a chocolate cup of coffee on top. Would revisit again.

Extremely poor handling of cake reservations + customer service. I called in the day before to ask about whether I could have a medium cheesecake ready with "Happy Birthday" written on it for the afternoon on the next day. Keep in mind that these are one of the cakes they regularly make, so there should be many of them available. The morning of picking up the cake, I called to confirm the time that the cake would be ready at, and they said it would be ready at 2 pm. When I got to the bakery at 2:30 pm, the employees there seemed to be scrambling and unable to find my cake. They left me waiting for 10-15 minutes, only to have different employees ask for the details of my cake several times since they couldn't find my cake in the end. After waiting, my cake was finally here (they were rushing to prepare it on the spot after I had arrived), except they gave me a large cheesecake instead of a medium without even asking me in the first place (because they ran out of medium sized cakes), and still insisted that they charge me the $36 for the large instead of the $28 for the medium - even though it was their fault for being unable to fulfill my request regarding the size of the cake, with me informing them of this request the day before. So, here are the following things that went wrong in my interaction with them: 1. Saying that it would be possible to reserve a cake the day before, but failing to call me or inform me in advance that my order would not be fulfilled the way I wanted - and failing to ask for any alternative requests as a result 2. Confirming the morning of that the cake would be ready at 2 pm, when cheesecakes are made everyday, and yet still somehow forgetting about my order until I show up to the bakery 3. Not willing to charge me the price for a medium cake, which I originally requested, as a result of their inability to give the product that I wanted, and overcharging me as a result of their mistakes 4. Going through with the order assuming that a large cake size would be fine, and failing to communicate this to me while my cake was being prepared after I arrived at the store While their food may be good, their logistics + management of cake reservations is nothing but a disaster. Go elsewhere to get cakes for a special occasion in a timely manner.

This is the place for hand made Italian cuisine! From the hot table, to the sandwhiches, to the breads, and the treats. Everything is delishious here. There is parking, but its tight and usually full, so parking on the first side street is the best way to go. The store is handicapped accessible, and there is a small dine in area, which was clean. The deli is usually very clean, including the washrooms. The ladies are friendly here, and can help with your ordering. The hot table changes up so you just have to see and try it yourself. I really love the lasagna, here. Every bite has meat and cheese in it. The sandwhiches I love too, they are made fresh, and have lots of cheese too. You can buy special cheeses here too. There is also special ingredients you csn buy, for preparing real Italian dishes. For sandwhiches this place has no equal. This is a deli, so gherd is no fancy dress code, hence the 3 star atmosphere. I will be going back for sure.

This is a busy place for a reason. So, if you are an impatient individual and complain about waiting a bit, please do not visit this place. It is not for you because you clearly have no concept nor understanding of what freshly made high-quality goods are. I had a fresh sandwich (salami & prosciutto), a double espresso, and a freshly made cannoli. Everything was fantastic, taste, quality, and pricing. There is a bit of a seating area. The place looks spotless and neatly organized. They also have packed products (flower, pastas, etc.). I highly recommend to those who enjoy stopping and smelling the flowers once in a while. The closest authentic feeling of being in Italy outside of Italy.

It was our first time that we went to this bakery and we were amazed by the taste, quality, and even the pricing of the cake. The cake tasted extremely well. You wouldn’t find such kind of cakes anywhere else. Also, we had veggie pizza slices and they were outstandingly delicious. Loaded up with cheese to the full extent. Recommended. Must try!

The most authentic Italian bakery experience in the GTA! Francesca’s is the most delicious Italian gem. We got their cannolis and a mango coconut passion fruit cake, which were both outstanding. The cannolis were crispy with a rich, creamy, and sweet but not-too-sweet filling, and the cake had many layers of texture and flavour. The prices were reasonable, and the workers were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place for its authenticity and DELICIOUS food! We will be revisiting!!

I was really looking forward to this, as I’ve heard a lot of great things, but was mildly disappointed in the food and the service. I had a veal sandwich and arancini + an espresso. It was good not great. 3 stars is too little and 4 stars is too much.

Went here for the first time today. The hot food counter is great! Picked up some pasta with mushrooms and meat sauce, and a sandwich with mortadella. Both tasted great! Definitely will come back!!!

Visiting from Texas, and our family walked all the way to this bakery to buy the delicious goodies. Don’t get me wrong - food is awesome and delicious, but the service leaves much to be desired. Since we had walked for quite a bit (with parents and young kids), I asked the lady if there is seating and her response was “no, this is a bakery”. Wth? Later on, she seemed to be recapping that dialogue to her coworker. Again 5 stars for food and 1 star for service.

It's a great Italian place! Loved the Coffee Crema - smooth and great taste! Came around 1pm - lasagna was sold out. But had other great pasta options. Had a few croissants - very good! Will come back for sure.

Local east end Scarborugh Italian bakery that serves pastries, cakes, hot food table, pantry items and gelatos. There is something for everyone's palette, whether it's a sweet or savory craving they're going after. There is a small dine in area. It could be difficult to find parking during peak periods.

My photos are quite dated - by at least a year. I’ve been going to Francesca’s for the past decade and they never disappoint. This is a gem in our neighbourhood. And that’s an understatement. You get the freshest pastries, the most delicious gelato, and the tastiest arancinis. At one point, my husband and I would buy a bunch of arancini and we’d pack that for our week’s lunch at work. Pure yummm.

Decent hot counter, sandwiches are pretty good. Must try their almond croissant, it was 💣OMG the perfect almond croissant Too bad it’s $5 otherwise I’d be fat.

Fantastic place. The food is great, the cakes and desserts are outstanding. We get an Italian cake everytime we come to Scarborough from the States. Love this place.

Didn’t realize why the big line and full parking lot were about until we ate their food. Excellent! Their almond Croissant is out of the world. We also bought cannoli- good, pizza - moderate, empanada- yummy, Americano- strong, with milk- pretty good. We also bought some fresh bread. A lot of good stuffs to buy. They also sell fried rice, chicken, pasta and other items. Cake and pastries looked delicious. Friendly staff. Couple of tables to dine in. Very very busy place. Small parking lot and full! Highly recommend this place.

I love their croissants which normally sell out quickly on the weekends and variety of cakes! I'm not a big fan of their eclairs but all other cakes are delicious! I recently tried the packaged cookies on the counter and they were also delicious. The only downside is that the parking lot isn't big enough for the busy store so most of the time I have to wait for a parking spot.

I recently got some croissants and Danish from this place. Loved it! Placed the order ahead for pickup, the service was fast and the food looked amazing. Highly recommended! Edit: I recently visited them again and few days back and got to say the service has taken a hit. They were quite rude. Still giving 4 stars cause the food was great.

Picked up cake for my mom's birthday- my 1st time ordering- she loves her cake, we all loved it; the best part is, it wasn't sweet. :-) On another note, the lady that greeted my husband at pickup was RUDE- when he entered, asked about the cake, her response was- next time go them (pointing at the ladies) that were there- then started complaining 🙄 and addressing workers in front of a customer- (she wasn't please) just because she was given a name for pick up and because she's the cashier- she feels she shouldn't be the one to ask - so, you felt the need to tell a customer who comes in for the 1st time, no signs indicating who or where to go-you.must let him know how displeased you were the fact he asked? ( you couldn't act like a owner and representative of "where you work"??? Unbelievable! I think you believe you are too much of a boss that you feel it's not your job to simple indicate to those at the back that a customer is here for pick up. You need to fix your attitude and deliver better customer service experience. Beside that, I want to come again- but would not want to deal with that lady!

Have visited Francesca several times over the years. I've tried the cannoli, as well as different croissants and danishes. The pastries have always been good. I've also had some of the prepared foods a couple of times but I didn't think they were anything special. Gets very busy around lunch time with limited parking.

  • 4/5 David L. 2 years ago on Google
Baked goods are very good (bread, croissant, cookies). Sandwiches were not great, but perhaps the store clerks were getting stressed out with the constant flow of people. Will try the cake next time.
